I remember .... my next door neighbor, this jamaican girl in Brooklyn, was the one that hip me to this song. And yes, it was a wicked tune. I always think of her when I hear this song.
The Band accompanying Junior Byles is PON fYAH from Jamaica W.I. This was PON fYAH's first Festival! The PON fYAH Personnel here are: Horace 'Sangie' Davis - Rhythm Guitar/Vocals. Paul 'Smiley' Madden - Bass. Michael Graham - Drums. Ozou`ne Sundalyah - Band Leader/Musical Director, Keyboards & Melodica. The Brass Section comprised of: Rico Gaultier - Sax & Flute. Nuff respect & big up to Earl 'Chinna' Smith & Jerome Lavasseur as without them this would not have been possible.
the man is a pauper and garance helped him with this act to live decently(aford food every day) at least for a short amout of time.. i just think the band should have keep on playing and let him jump in and out
That's not the crux of the matter. Mr. Byles is ill & has been in that state of mind & position for years. Thus he has become quite accustomed to it and knows no other way or cares to. I don't know if we're watching the same clip as shown here, however my Band PON fYAH continued playing based upon my instructions even after Junior told all concerned that 'him dun' - meaning he is finished having no intentions to return to the stage to perform! I commend Jerome & Garance Fest. for their gallant effort of bringing one of Jamaica's former Reggae Legends to it's Festival! Much respect, Ozou`ne Sundalyah - PON fYAH Founder/Band Leader & Keyboard Player.
