Will they sell in USA, and when?
If you think the Chinese need Volvo’s support for EVs you’re wrong. Volvo is benefitting from Chinese knowledge transfer.
It might be worth mentioning that the Lynk01 it's not developed by Volvo but by CEVT, a Gothenburg-based company owned by Geely. Most people @ CEVT are from VCC and Saab.
so beautiful story
Also Volvo XC40 is from CMA platform of CEVT
What is the full English name of VCC?

I´ve had my Lynk & Co 01 for two weeks and I´m loving it.
Yesterday me and my family drove 82,5 km on one charge! It was a 41,25 km drive from one side of Stockholm the other side, to my stepfather, and the exact same way back a couple of hours later. It was 16°C outside on the way there and 13°C on the way back. The AC was off, since the temperature in the car was perfect anyway. The car was in D mode. The trip there took around 45 minutes and the trip back took 40 minutes (less traffic). That´s an average speed of approximately just under 60 km/h (37 mph).
Cool!
Seems better than the specifications!
you can try Zeeker 01 which is an electronic car brand of lynk&co, I believe you will get surprise if you try zeeker 01
11 month update: I´ve had my Lynk & Co 01 for exactly 11 months today and I am very happy with it. A couple of weeks ago I drove 89 km on one charge on mostly country roads (50 - 80 km/h) in 24°C outside temperature and the AC mostly off. The AC lowers the range pretty much so when it´s very warm outside (and in the car) and I go on longer trips (and want to maximize the electric range) I usually drive with the windows down for a couple of minutes (to ventilate the cabin and get rid of most of the warm air) then cool the cabin with the AC for a couple of minutes and then finally turn the AC off and use the fan on high level instead. This gives the car at least 10 km´s extra. 🙂

It’s rare to see independent car reviewer in China. They usually have a script that’s issued by the PR team of the car brand. All they need to do is to read along, and the car companies will purchase fans to subscribe and like them. Win-win situation for the journalist and car brands. Most consumers are scammed everyday.

Sehr schön. If only all car manufacturers were as honest as you.
Cool review. But I missed your calm approach.
Thomas, how about the warranty?
Oh my lord. I live long enough to see Autogefühl reviewing one of my favorite Chinese car brands. I must be dreaming!
They are actually not so snobbish if the product is excellent and interesting
I rented one of these on vacation in France. I like it as much as my Audi Q5. Hopefully these make it to the US one day…
I would say comfort is not as an Audi Q5 but build quality and tech equipment are same level
Thanks for the review and the confirmation of the quality/ride levels. Geely can afford to try a different approach with this brand - happy to see it coming to Europe with a life style branding rather than a typical car company name....will bring a fresh audience engagement. will also highlight how much we pay for brand identity...€7k for the volvo badge
Lynk & Co is a Swedish-Chinese premium car brand owned by Geely (of course, Volvo is involved there because the brand is created as a joint venture between them, so they use Volvo platforms and sharing technologies with Geely and Volvo). Their models consisted of 01, a compact crossover, the 02, a compact hatchback/crossover SUV, the 03, a subcompact executive saloon, the 05, a compact coupé crossover, the 06, a subcompact crossover, and the 09, a flagship midsize luxury crossover SUV. The 01 is the only Lynk & Co model to be sold in Europe, while the rest of them is only sold in China.
Hey Thomas, old viewer here. Pls don't make your reviews shorter. I think many of us subscribed for the calmer, longer, almost ASMR-y car videos. They are like no other on RUclips. Cheers!
Hey Peter, thanks for the feedback! We're trying to find a compromise to still show all the information you are used to get here while also appealing to the new algorithm. If we continue as always, we have to close the channel. The new algorithm punishes us in a way that we would have never expected, even the dearest long-term subscribers often don't get our videos displayed anymore. It's tough for us, so we had to react. I hope you keep supporting us and we'll try to find the best solution possible for everyone!
@@autogefuehl I understand it, and hope you can make it work. Maybe even if you need to make it shorter, just bring back the old calm style, I think most people don't like this handheld camera style. Or have you considered making a second channel for longer reviews instead of shorter ones?
We did launch a channel for shorter reviews: ruclips.net/channel/UCwqs7-BnUreBJMfXHU4dZFg

I like black and blue coloured things, so that's good.
Also I really like that it comes with a sound generator too for electric driving.
A interesting phenomenon: when a new car brand enters a new market, people often says "xxx looks like xxx/xxx looks like a copy from xxx", such things also happened on Hyundai Kia Group.
Kia's wheel is a copy of Rome's Chariot wheel from 4th century. Look on how similiar the shape is
@@bullracing1 hahahahaha :D
China has a tradition in "looks like"...🤣🤣
@@w7class Pardon me, but they are korean.
Kiayundai do have many design cues from other brands. The might stem from the fact they have many ex-PSa, SAAB and Audi design staff on their teams. The early Hyundai's were Giugiaro binned concepts, early Kias were questionable designs bought from Pininfarina. Only now are they getting anything like a design style, however much of their detailing has been seen before on other cars.
Great review Thomas! I never heard about this car brand before however it's an interesting proposal for sure.
Good luck fighting off this crazy yt algorithm and keep up growing the channel! Your work is a true masterclass!
Thanks for the support!
Hi, great review. I like watching your videos. Do you know if the software bugs are fixed at his moment? How is the speed of starting the system up and the app?
You're right about the name! Should just have branded it Lynk or Lynkco.
Car looks pretty solid though and the rear lights looked pretty cool from the side! 19:06
Lynk sounds like a video game caracter and Lynkco rhymes with Psyco.
Fun Fact: Lynk and Co was a RAcing Team . Owned by Polestar who was owned by Volvo :)
Sounds like a clothing brand but nice car to drive.
I call it Chinese Lincoln
Thanks Thomas! I really like the use of different textures and textiles while avoiding glossy-black surfaces. Not a fan of the larger 01 but I hope you can one day review the 02 hatchback, 03 sedan or 06 subcompact. Those seem more fun and even sporty.
I'm in China and I can tell you, that the 03 is a great sedan, but the 06 very sucks, much worse than the 01
Lync have amazing potential. They make good cars, including the Lync 03 Cyan concept, the fastest front wheel drive car round the Nürburgring.
Nice message Tomas sent to the Engineers :). Very interesting product.

Super excited to try out this model. I shall pick my Blue car tomorrow (05th Jan 2023) from the Hamburg Club. I already had a test-drive with my wife and we loved it. I was too impatient to wait for the 8-months for the Mercedes GLC so I shall take this. Brand new, to be changed after 9 months! An interesting business model but fits well as I switch from private to business car.
Really like this car! Good looking, nice interior, better priced and more exciting than the Volvo siblings. I could definitely se myself owning one.

I have seen some ads for the car but never really looked into it. After/while watching this video, I'm positively surprised and really interested. Especially the price is really decent (maybe it's even less if you get some government bonus). Also great idea with the hassle free ordering model. Thanks for the insights Thomas!

Today I rented one (unintentionally) thanks to Hertz, and I am surprised with the build quality and tech. It is a nice car actually.
Edit: there are some quality issues. For ex there is a wireless charging pad, but it is not working all across it, hence ended up holding my phone the whole way while driving! Also when you use your side indicstirs, it shows side of the car in center screen but doesnt go back to the navigation thereafter (pitch black) which is a glitch.
I'm planning to get my first car in the U.K. I wonder when will them start their business here. It will be nice to have a Chinese-branded (or may I say Chinese-Swedish-branded) car when I'm far away from home. In addition to Lynk&Co, we do have a lot of great car brands, but none of them is selling here. And I'm glad to see local people have a basically positive review of this car
I just got mine and it’s a very nice car indeed. Here in Germany I started seen more often this model on the streets. Lynk and Co have a great future in Europe.

had the link and co 01 as a rental during my three week road trip though france and italy. I am from Canada and we don't have this brand here. At first i was like wth is a Link and Co and was skeptical about driving this thing. By the end of this trip i was pretty pleased with it. It drives steady, is a solid and smooth ride and the hybrid is fully charged after 4 and a half hours and gave me about 80km per full charge. By the end of the trip i thought the car was pretty great.

ya indeed...
Lately, videos are being pushed to the start pages that are more "screaming out", since obviously more people are keen on entertaining and "loud" content. Serious "calmer" content is rather being hidden now untill people explicitly search for it.
Jack, could be Jackie, from Jacqueline. I think the car looks good. Thomas and I agree and have often commented it's good at last, at long last, animal skins feature less, especially on the seats. This is a breakthrough especially from a Chinese manufacturer. I also like the inclusive equipment purchase options. I hope the interior has plenty of soft touch surfaces, especially the door panels? Thomas? Buyer could be confident of this vehicle due to the close links to Volvo.
yes indeed m8, materials are quite well chosen! Also most is soft touch or structured
Thanks for the review. I like this subscription approach, even if, being cheap, I tend to buy my car second hand, and for less than a month's income. However, having a brand new attractive car for 500 euros a month is still attractive (I did not say financially smart, I said attractive). If 500 euro a month was for the PHEV (which it might, I am none the wiser after watching the vid) I would be interested. I would also like to know the petrol consumption of this vehicle, and how it handles motorways and long journeys.
I looked forward to this review! 500€ lease all in and you can cancel every month without any additional fee's. I am very interested!
Not a lease,its a subscription :)

I woke up to the notification of this video. I saw the title, the thumbnail with you and the car there, and with that background I have never seen here before. I was so confused. 😂
Interesting car. It further shows why I am always accepting and loving of platform sharing of cars and the merging of brands under a parent company, especially if said parent company is an automotive brand as well. There are also engineering aspects as well that benefit from this. We have seen this with the Bentley Bentayga, for example. In this case with Lynk and Co., the platform sharing was taken advantage of by Geely mostly to be able to offer more for less. This is built in China, right? I am not sure if China has the same advantages as we know with South Korea when it comes to parts and taxing of them being imported and/or manufactured, if I remember correctly. Genesis (essentially a Hyundai and Kia glittered up) takes advantage of this thing and platform sharing at the beginning. Also, this sharing helps with actually getting the car to customers. Car dealerships (online and offline). Genesis is able to build and sell cars *solely* because of Hyundai and Kia like with Lexus and Toyota. Otherwise, they would have never seen the light of day. The only automotive brand I know that (almost) completely rose up with the least amount of help was Tesla, and that is showing...for better and for worse. So, from my understanding, all that is why Lynk and Co. charges so little while providing the essence of a more expensive product.
All this may make some people ask: is Volvo now overpriced now that Lynk and Co. exist? Well...no. It is kind of like a parent being "called out" for spending too much money a month, but their child who still lives with and benefits from them has a minimum wage job, yet is surviving and using way less money. Volvo is not overpriced, _but_ if what you and I say is true all-throughout, then there is no need to buying the Volvo XC40. This seems like more value for money. This is not like with Bentley sharing parts with the Volkswagen Group. For example, experiencing a Bentley Bentayga is nothing like experiencing an Audi Q7 or Q8. With Lynk and Co., it seems like it is a Volvo throughout, but costs less. It seems likes no benefit other than brand loyalty to get the Volvo. Unless, there were many things the Volvo provides that this does not.
This is awesome by Geely and Lynk and Co. I also think it is smart if them for starting by launching an SUV (better since it is electrified), rather than making the stupid mistake Genesis did by starting with something else and no ambitious electrified car. If you want to establish yourself, appeal to a big market, not a small one. Only one major thing left to do, build the Lynk and Co. brand image. They must not build themselves up as "the cheaper Volvo." That will set people off and they will think there is a catch, especially coming from a Chinese brand. We have seen this many times. Rather they build themselves as a unique brand kind of like what Mazda has done. I really hope they further take advantage of what they have, because it can really be great.
Admittedly, I like the name _Lynk and Co._ For some reason, it reminds me of what a children's Saturday show would be called. Lynk and his friends up to mischief. 😂 Seriously, the name may intrigue people and have them wonder more. 🤔
hehe, very interesting thoughts!!
Well done

Subscription is for 1250km/month and including everything except fuel. Also, it only has a 30 day cancellation period. looks like a Chinese Seat... affordable with some difference to the others.... great concept of ownership and i think more companies will take up this way of selling soon
"you own nothing and you will be happy:" in the making....
This is how serfdom came to be, peasants owned nothing, they just rented. Karl Marks had an explaination about this cycle, interesting literature.
And you are posting this from your lease phone while sitting in your rented house? Be smart and only own things that increase in value. A car decreases in value so the only reason to own one is to tune it or for some emotional reason. If you calculate the total cost of ownership of a similar car it will be a lot higher.
I have a feeling this fits with all those New World Order / Great Reset things. Strange that so many puzzles come together
You better pay 40k for a car and after 3 years is worth 20k? Plus service, insurance, etc? you will own something, while paying more, is this smart?
@@anotherdeejay Also selling it will cost time, mostly as a private person you'll get less for the car than a cardealer sells it for and you'll always have the risk of damage/ theft where you need to discuss a lot with your insurance or it breaks down and you have unexpected expenses. And than you have the part where you put 40k of your savings in a car instead of investing it (easily 2-5% earnings a year)

I think that when we talk about a subscription formula we cannot limit ourselves to saying that 500 € / month is an interesting installment because the car is valid and full optional. It is also necessary to evaluate the services included, in addition to the car: type of insurance coverage, limitations and penalties ... Is there a replacement car? Tire change?
Yeah, they catch the car from home and deliver it again, do tyre change, service with liquids etc. Fuel is the only thing you gotta pay
@@autogefuehl OK, do you know if it's possible to read anywhere the insurance and car maintenance terms and constraints? Because you pay a 500€/month subscription where 300€ (maybe..) is to use the car while the other 200€ is what you pay for insurance and services. We understood that 300€ for this car should be OK but what about the 200€ we should pay for insurance and services? Could we really drive this car without worries or, for instance, we could be charged 250/500€ for every claim because of insurance deductibles? I know that some long term rent contracts ask the driver to pay a sum just to open the claim...
@@tuberds There's an insurance deductible of €500, which even includes windshield repair so you'd have to pay for that yourself. Plus you can only drive 1,250 kilometres a month. Anything more and you're paying €0,15 per kilometre. Not at all attractive for those who have to drive a lot. These are the terms for the Netherlands btw, I don't know if this differs from other countries.
