Good for her.....even me as a public school teacher my wife and I chose to Homeschool our kids until I changed careers. We could see that our public schools were going liberal...and that was years ago. We also called it "selective socialization". Some of the kids back then were behaving like little monsters and it's only gotten worse since then. A retired school teacher put it this way: Teachers are afraid of the Principal, Principals are afraid of the Superintendent, Superintendents are afraid of the School Board, the School Board is afraid of the Parents, the Parents are afraid of their own kids (can't punish them) and the kids AREN'T AFRAID OF ANYBODY!!!

A friend of ours has been a teacher for 30 years. Said in recent years, they have been taught to not discipline the minority kids because the parent will just blame the teacher for being prejudiced. The parents have all bought in to this ridiculous notion that everyone is out to get their kids, they teach this rubbish to their kids so everyone in that community doesn’t trust these fine teachers who really have the kids best interest at heart. Another generation of these kids won’t succeed and the parents will blame society. Never ending cycle until that community takes responsibility for themselves.

I just retired from a CT school for the same reasons. I was also discriminated against because I spoke out against the gender theory being pushed on to our elementary students. I was told by a head member of the LGBTQ community who was conducting a staff meeting at our school that the teachers didn't have to call boys boys, and girls girls, that we can call them he, she, it, they, and binary kids. When I said I'm a Christian who believes in a marriage between a man and a woman, and the Bible, and didnt believe this gender theory stuff should be pushed into young students minds I was told I can't speak that way. That it was against school policy. I then was being pushed out of the teaching job I love, and felt I had to step down, or run the risk of being terminated. It was terrible. I tried to fight these people, and get the union to support me, but nobody would help. Also I tried to get a lawyer to file a lawsuit against this public school system, but didnt have the money for the 5-10,000 dollar retainer fee. Unfortunately the principals and superintendents have too much power, and this is why teachers like myself are leaving. I did 28 years and wanted to do two more because I love the students, but felt I had no choice, but to leave. People need to know how much teachers are suffering now along with the students.

You need to follow whatever your state's laws are to home school. Since home school is separate from government schools they would have the programs you're asking for. Most states have a state wide home school organization. For example my state has the Washington state home school organization (which is not the government) that offers some of what you're talking about and can tell you lots about available resources.

The teachers can't take the phones away... only the parents can do that. Parents be parents and make the hard choices because you are cheating your own kids out of an education by giving them unlimited access to social media and entertainment via a smart phone. They have plenty of time for smart phones outside of school. Even the very best students are on their phones constantly. Think about it.

Allowing the tax allotment, per child, to follow them to whatever school they're attending would also help a great deal. That would allow small schools of 10 to 15 children to exist and flourish. Schools are much different now compared to how they were in the 80's when I went, and I remember standing up each morning and saying the Pledge of Alligance, and when I was in the 1st and 2nd grade I remember having to take those little fluoride pills each morning, and students were smarter and more educated compared to today's students. I've seen Fox News reporters go around to random adults on the streets and ask them basic questions about geography, history and biology that I learned in the 4th and 5th grade, and they have no idea about anything it seems like and usually end up getting all the answers wrong. Our children are being dumbed down by insane ideology by teachers who lack wisdom and common sense, and it has destroyed multiple generations of youth. Common Core is junk, and Schools should go back to the old ways of teaching. I remember one of my close Grammer School friends taking Trigonometry and Pre-Calculists in the 8th grade, and gave a Civic Oration Speech on "Plate Tectonics," which probably most college students wouldn't understand nowadays, and it's a testament to how far backwards society has moved instead of forwards.

She didn’t say “the poisoning of the curriculum.” She said “so many curriculum changes.” For example, I teach math. The district has so little respect for teachers that they will randomly revamp the entire math curriculum over summer, rendering all your lesson plans and syllabus for your entire class obsolete, and tell you the week before school starts. Then they will give you 8 hours of paid time with your team to figure it out. This means you get to spend YET ANOTHER YEAR revamping the same curriculum you end up having to revamp every single year for various reasons. Late nights til 2am after you out your kids to bed, recreating lesson materials and re-doing PowerPoints. Why? No reason. Just a curriculum revamp. It keeps people in their high paid jobs at the district office. Literally, that is all. They have to prove their worth, and this is how they do it. Meanwhile, textbooks are written by people with PhD’s, and there is no real reason for every district to trust a goldbadge with a masters degree to reinvent the wheel independently in each and every school district across the countey. It’s a waste of money, time, resources, and burns teachers out.
