Awww, my Sunday fix. Thank you so much for letting me, and all of us here, live vicariously through you and your mates. My heart is just full of joy and love for these babies!
Wow that last clip…the best! 4 Galah’s (I think) 🦜🦜🦜🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ and an Indian ringneck so cool…all flying off one human! I love this. And I don’t have any birds. Just living vicariously through all of you bird folk.
Pet parrots when treated correctly develop very strong relationships with their owners and dont want to leave, the mistake people make is thinking that this is what will keep them from flying away when taken outdoors. Dangerous thinking. Just like a person has to learn and develop key skills at/with specific schools to fly a plane safely so does a bird have to develop and learn key flight skills/behaviours at specific brain developmental stages. Pet indoor birds are not the same as properly trained free flight parrots, this is why they are lost or fly away, not because they want too but simply because they have zero skill base or ability to navigate or fly back. So they panic... flap harder and faster and off they go. Just because they have wings does not mean they automatically know how to fly. :) www.adventuresofroku.com/Educational.php has further details on this :)
you would think so but it would be extremely hard to do as to a outsider they look the same but to us extremely different. Plus the parrots know who their companions are :)
Once i had a cockatoo named Toby. But he was so smart that he un screwed his cage and the door fel on top of him. Now I have one and it's a cockatoo as well and her name is Pako. She's red/gray.
aww thank you, he's a cutie. Not at all, simply because there are no major Mitchell cockatoos in our local area as they are found more inland Australia and also because it's not a natural behaviour to fly off with an established flock when he has his own. Much like assuming a well raised and adjusted young child would want to randomly leave their family without cause and join a new family of strangers, it's just not a natural behaviour. :)
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I knew you were in Australia but I didn't know the the distribution of the different cockatoos. of course he would be a stranger in a wild flock. I should have thought of that. I raised chickens for years and new members had to be introduced carefully. Once someone dumped a couple of young roosters into my yard and my roosters ran them off into the neighbors yard. Then I had to rescue them (the neighbors not the roosters. )
Oh my goodness!!! I think the category should be changed from Animals to a Comedy, because this episode made me laugh. The triplet galahs and the parrots lumbering through the grass. I just thoroughly enjoyed and a great laugh. Oh I forgot, AND Pabu (how I could forget your Pabu, your Pretty Prince, and the very wise "old" Roku.
people who have little to no understanding on natural behaviours of both raptors/ parrots, processes of free flight and brain developmental stages will naturally assume this is the greatest risk. This is not the case at all (if done correctly) the biggest mistake people make is comparing a free flight trained parrot to a pet indoor parrot. A free flight trained parrot is far more like their wild counterparts due to having the same ability to respond and react accordingly to perceived danger. just as millions of wild parrots do every single day alongside predators. For more details on this I've collated all the information here www.adventuresofroku.com/Educational.php
captive bred parrots are what saves many species, advocating proper care and practices does far more for conservation and preservation of their natural habitat and wild counterparts :) so im ok with people buying captive bred so long as they have fully committed for the life of the bird and understand just how much work they need ie bare minimum 4 hours 1 on 1 per day.

Me alegran el día y la noche siempre!
Major Mitchel's Cockatoos are so beautiful. Do you ever worry that Pabu will join a flock of wild M. M. Cockies while out flying?
aww thank you, he's a cutie. Not at all, simply because there are no major Mitchell cockatoos in our local area as they are found more inland Australia and also because it's not a natural behaviour to fly off with an established flock when he has his own.

haha chickens can be so aggressive like that, even the hens!
they work out their little social groups and stick to them :p
Birds are mint :)
They so cutes

Best video of the day
l.love.birds.sooo.much.😚😚😚Great.video
I love birds
Wow I thought their wings were cut but they fly far and come bak wow
Estupendas aves, bonitas y muy inteligentes. Parece mentira que al volar no se escapen y vuelvan con sus dueños.
Murloc T-Shirts!!
it's feeling like a heaven 😘
The big fear I would think when letting they fly is probably them being snatched by like a hawk, falcon, or eagle
people who have little to no understanding on natural behaviours of both raptors/ parrots, processes of free flight and brain developmental stages will naturally assume this is the greatest risk.

I think it's not great to buy those animals, because they are wild. But let them fly like this is a good things for the mental and the healt :3
I am a bird owner, I only buy domestic bred animals because taking them from the wild is pretty cruel imo
captive bred parrots are what saves many species, advocating proper care and practices does far more for conservation and preservation of their natural habitat and wild counterparts :) so im ok with people buying captive bred so long as they have fully committed for the life of the bird and understand just how much work they need ie bare minimum 4 hours 1 on 1 per day.
