Good to see you Becky! You’re my favorite homesteader 😄☀️we also looked into minisplits this year when we had to make some decisions about our central ac unit. We ended up keeping central, but if we ever have to decide for a new home, I’d choose minisplits. There are many advantages!

Living in the Pacific Northwest I was most interested in the heating. Was very tempted to go with a mini-split because I am totally on solar power. Thanks to your warning I think I will have to look a little farther for heating the house. Thank you so much for the help with chickens
Depending on how big your house is, you could use a mini split with a ceiling fan with the blades reverse, pushing the air(heat) up. Then it flows down the walls☀️❤️☀️
radiant floor heat is amazing if you look into DIY
Mini is limited on the heater because of the typical location at the ceiling- Heat rises, hence it does not get to the lower areas, even with fans.
You can make the blades on a ceiling fan reverse to push the heat down, if you have one☀️❤️☀️
I went from growing up in the US to living in many countries in Asia with mini-splits and am in love with mini-splits...quiet enough to sleep soundly, efficient, and work amazingly well. Be prepared to replace the fan/motor if in a very hot area every couple of years, but otherwise AMAZING purchase. Never will go back to breathing dust from ducts again! Great job, Becky! Next, radiant floor heat!

So glad to see a new video from your channel . When we were in Costa Rica some years ago (went to visit my daughter who was getting her PHD in Biology who washing research down there I saw my first mini-split. Not all the accommodations we stayed a had heating or air conditioning but the ones that did had mini-splits. I was so impressed by them,

Hey, thanks for the nice comment. Neil is mad at me, because I was trimming his toe nails and clipped one a bit too short. He squealed at me and jumped is old chubby butt up.

Love this, been looking at this option. You may want to do a ceiling fan, they have an option now that you can just plug in the wall and hang from the ceiling so no trip over anything on the floor. I think one of the box stores sells it form $100. and its nice looking too. Keep sharing and keep cool.

Hey Becky! I went with a multi unit mini split for my place. Its a full 2 story with 2000 sq ft. I wouldn't do it differently!❤ 6:45

This was so informative I have three units in the wall. And just as you said they are so expensive to run. The noise drives me crazy. Tv has to be made louder. And that in itself drives me crazy!! I saw these years ago but they were very expensive. Hoping they went down. But always great getting you advice!! Checking into them. Thank you!! Glad to see another video !! 😊

Do your chickens have half sun and half shade in their coop? Keep the coop clean and dry. Make the floor 3 inch deep sand. Rub a little DE on their combs☀️❤️☀️

Hi! I love your videos and I was wondering if I could put some diatomaceous earth in my chickens treats and when I give them clover I put some in there because some of them aren’t eating a ton right now and that is the only way for me to give it to them. They are eating it with the clover but I was wondering if I could keep doing that. I tried searching but nothing would come up and I know your smart with chickens so if u could tell me if that’s ok it would be a life saver! Also I know this is long but I have one more question, some of my chickens are not eating there feed but love anything else to eat and are acting fine, do you know why? Thank you so much!

Can hen lay eggs 5 to 6 years without stopping, if the nutrition is on point.
Yes, I have had hens lay for 7-8 years. Just remember that the white part of the egg gets more runny as a hen ages. It still taste the same and is healthy, it just spreads out more when you crack it into a pan.☀️❤️☀️
