Through the power of editing. Walks off to order parts then immediately has parts. Wish real life was like that haha. Great video. Just picked up a crf450x. So nice to see to see someone go through a motor
I have a 05 CRF250X thinking i might have the same issues was driving to my buddys and it started running bad like it was running out of gas i pulled in to the gas station at the pump shut it off with the kill switch checked it had gas in it i was nervous waited about 10 min let the bike cool down went to start it with the kick starter instead of the electric start button and it made one revolution an locked up haven't messed with it in a year now looks like alot more work than my 01 yz250f
Picked one of these up this year non running. It's a nice bike now. Just got to fix an oil migration issue going from the crankcase to the transmission. Then I'll hopefully be able to get lots of fun out of it.
Hi you mentioned drive chain slap towards the end of your video I had the same issue my solution was to pack the swing arm chain guide I cut a used guide & located it under the chain guide you’ll need a spacer basically I’ve used two guides works well no further noise smooth as silk

I am glad there is someone else like me that for no reason feels the exhaust gases like it's gaseous tea leaves. Though I was hoping to learn some new colorful metaphors with the parts skipped over.
I have this model and I want to take the air box/subrame off is it an easy process or do I have to take a lot apart to remove it? I'm asking more about the electrical that's on the subframe sides
It would probably start but I wouldn’t recommend running it without the battery installed to avoid potential damage to the charging system and voltage regulator
Haha, appreciate the feedback and support. Got my first dirt bike @ 11 with a bad top end (KD100), tore into it with no clue what I was doing. Been learning ever since.
@@restoroosterohv unbelievable. I appreciate your videos mate hope you carry on , as you are by far the most informative on RUclips imo and the most watchable . You’ve got a big fan here from England 💪🏻 thanks.
Hey bro good video, i have a lot of question about this bike, i have buy the same bike and same year but i wanna put the fairing kit of the 2020 or 2022, is this possible??
As a rule of thumb, you shouldn't lap TI valves (if they are coated). For Example, this is an excerpt directly from the 2003 Yamaha service manual for the YZ250F with TI valves, "After refacing the valve seat or replacing the valve and valve guide, the valve seat and valve face should be lapped." Page 4-38 I don't recall the specifics on this Honda engine but assume the valves were stainless. Thanks for your comment
@@restoroosterohv Thanks for the response. Only made the comment because I'm rebuilding the top end on my 05' 450X as well, and did a full stainless conversion from the oem Ti valves so I don't have to worry about it as much anymore.
Unless you are Jeremy McGrath (showing my age) the benefits of TI valves will be insignificant and quite frankly more trouble than they’re worth. Best of luck with your build!
YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST RESTO BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYBODY REPLACE VALVE GUIDES AND CUT THEIR OWN SEATS!
Appreciate your support

You and me both. Waiting on parts is the worst. Thanks for your feedback and enjoy your bike!
I LOVE THE BIG BOAR BIKES RESTO MAN BECAUSE THEY ARE SUCH A THRILL TO RIDE!
Me too
Very correct on engine install. After my first, I put the head on after the engine is in! Great work!
Thank you
RESTO IS THE BESTO!

This video was awesome thank you 👍

Well, what you’ve got going for you is that it didn’t lock up while running. Take your time and pull it apart until you find the issue.
Picked one of these up this year non running. It's a nice bike now. Just got to fix an oil migration issue going from the crankcase to the transmission. Then I'll hopefully be able to get lots of fun out of it.
Probably going to be the center crankcase seal or crank seals. Either way, sounds like a teardown is in your future.
@@restoroosterohv hoping just the right crank seal. I'll start with that and a prayer.
@@dhanshlong As hard as this engine is to get out (or in), that may be your best bet.

Hello Do you need a battery to start the 450x? or will kicking it without a battery work?

I don’t believe that it would be possible as they are completely different.
Que luz de válvula lleva un crf 450 2008 ?

What sucks is that I came here solely to see the engine and swing arm go back in 😞
This is a family program, there was too much cursing and throwing tools 😁. These are a bit of a struggle to get together. Sorry you were disappointed.
That bike is mint u could have got a rougher one
Normally I do
my 02 450r has a lot of chain slap at low speed
4 strokes tend to have more chain slap. Just be sure your chain is properly tensioned and keep an eye on the slider for wear.
