    I went through 4 to 5 of the PS3 and mine kept turning off every 5 seconds. I commend you to have the guts to open up the ps3 I'm afraid to even do that. And don't worry if you get bad comments like I've seen, I think your brave to even come on youtube and talk about something that I don't even have the guts to talk about.

    As someone who makes and designs circuit boards for a living, take this advice. Taking the power supply out of the plastic casing and setting it down on the floor can cause damage to the circuitry. Luckily that didn't happen. Almost anything can discharge static electricity. Including the floor and your hands. Most humans can't feel when they discharge static under 2000 volts. Which is plenty to destroy circuit pathways and IC chips. So be careful. And those things your were adjusting look like variable resistors and are set precisely. Adjusting them may temporary fix then problem but may lead to a blown capacitor or transformer. So adjust those at your own risk.

    Could be this, could also be a blown capacitor anywhere on the power supply, or failed CPU/GPU contact which requires reballing..or I assume a bunch of other things that produce this symptom. I'm hunting for what it happens to be on old console I found and it's starting to feel pretty pointless without a multimeter. Sony should really learn to use error beep codes, or some other way to communicate exactly what's broken. But thanks for the effort of making a video and I'm glad to see some people have fixed theirs with your help. Btw, you can discharge static from your body by touching a ground. Also, be careful not to touch capacitors, Google what they look like if you don't know, they are those 2 large black things on the power supply for example. Their job is to store charge, the larger they are the more they store generally. The big ones in old TVs could literally kill you.

    Guys for those one that didn't work try releasing the power supply first then put it beside then go to the bluray or the hard disk place but be very very careful when you release out the bluray after releasing power supply there will be a big data cable or clips or anything you want to call it under the bluray not on the sides of the power supply it will be coloured white and blue its wide remove it first and plug it again then after that you will find another 2or3 cables or clips or whatever you call it after the big white and blue cable or clips or whatever remove it then plug it again after removing the 2or3 cables or clips or whatever you call it and plugging it shut the ps3 with screwdriver hardly then see results like if it works 😎😎😎

      Maybe it was Dirty or it was the power supply that was indicating you that it will fail soon and he doesn’t have a fat ps3 he has a slim one ik this comment was from 7 years ago but you should’ve move on to a slim or a PS4 To Be Honest The Fat PS3 Is Difficult to fix because of how is designed since it has all the parts on top of eachother even the power supply and you have to unscrew all the way down just to get to the broken part and is a headache

    nice video. fuck the haters. will give you one tip here on the way you handled the circuit board. Doesn't matter how long it has been off for. them capacitors store energy. you can either short the capacitors to make them safe . you might get a spark or simply thing is do not touch the underside of the board. and be careful on the other side as you can get a nasty shock even when it been off. even after days and weeks

    1) The "single sided" screwdriver is a Standard, or "Flat"
    2) The "four sided" screwdriver is called a "Phillips"
    Depending on the PS type you have, You may need Soecialty screwdriver bits, like the Torx tamper proof bits.
    You can get them from Harbor Freight tools, in a multi pack for about ten dollars.

    Which system is this you took apart? I took one apart that looked identical from the outside, but on the inside, it looks nothing like the inside of yours. those 2 circular white pieces you turned to adjust the power source were not even there when I opened it. the one I was working on was the original from 2008. probably 20 or 40 gig I think.

    Quick question, where did you learn that this is what the problem was? I mean I understand being a computer hardware technician or knowing somebody who is might lead you to just assume this is the solution, but I'm more or less wondering how you, or whoever figured this out, discovered how many degrees to screw it.

    • @Blopez_
      @Blopez_ 5 лет назад

      Leboyo56 it’s kinda universal with every console actually like if GameCube powers on and off or your phone does that you gotta do process of elimination which is replacing the battery

    So that kind of sounds like what my problem is. I was watching Netflix on my PS3 and I take very good care of my PS3. But one day it just shut off and I tried turning it back on and there was a red light and I hit the power button again and it turned green but then a couple seconds later turned off. Can someone tell me what the problem is?

    • @MultiUltimategamer13
      @MultiUltimategamer13 8 лет назад

      Did it blink red and have a beeping noise? If that happened then it's the red light of death. If that didn't then your fuse is blown. You may have to buy a new power supply.

    • @chrissymoskal6414
      @chrissymoskal6414 8 лет назад

      +321GAMEOVER yea when I try to turn it on it first is red and beeps and shuts off then if I hit it again it is green and stays on for a couple seconds and then shuts off. But if I leave it unplugged for a week and try it goes on normally and will work for a day then craps out again. So I just don't know what to do lol I don't know how to fix this kinda stuff since I always take care of my stuff and it never usually breaks lol

      +Chrissy Moskal By the way if you do end up doing the red light of death fix it's a little crazy. You can look up what to do on with that.

      Update i bought new power supply and installed it this one did have the screws but it did not work
      i could have opened up the new power supply and turn the screws but i decided to return it and send my system to Sony
      so if your power supply does not have the screws you might as well send it to sony

    Do yourself a favor and BEFORE trying any of this (which might work), do a hard reset on your PS3. Hold the power button for a few seconds (up to 30). You'll know when. I had the symptoms as described here, but the reset appears to have did the job ;)

      I assume, if you want to be safe you can check the voltages with a multimeter or even hold a high value resistor to the ends to discharge it.
