Our corn and soybeans are growing faster than weeds. In today's episode we got a beautiful $1,000,000 rain which pushed us out of the fields but let us get some much needed indoor projects completed. First off, Dad and I ventured into the big city to certify our production acres of corn and soybeans, we put in some sweet security upgrades in the dryer shack (the tiny house), Dad and I tried something new to help advance our farm yields, Justin showed up to work on the wrap-around-porch, and I took some time to give my yard tender loving care. We will be back in the fields soon. Thank you for spending some time with us!

nothing like an 8 min advertisement in an 18 min video. when nearly half the video is a sponsored add... little overboard if you ask me.
Yup darn right nasty ad but I fast forward. Otherwise good content
@@RobPulson more like 10 minutes! More people need to "DISLIKE", And not watch. Getting ridiculous!
Hey Cole, the carbon monoxide detector needs to go near the floor not near the ceiling! only the smoke detector goes on the ceiling.
Recommendation. No brick around the trees. Dig a little trench around them and then mulch around the trees. Great tutorials on RUclips. Way cleaner look and easier to care for. I learned the hard way with the brick and tore it out. Great vid and stay safe.
Mulch attracts ants. Bad idea!!
@@elizabethliska5377 Any other ideas???
@@elizabethliska5377 mulch is good around plants and trees. Helps controls weeds, hold moisture for plants and keep soil cooler.
@@kevinmeyer8068 idk about weeds tho because around me the weeds grow anywhere
I agree I like the Landscaping bricks but sometimes around the tree is a little too much mulch is a lot simpler
As a Retired Firefighter I have to say, You need to move the smoke detector and CO detector off the top of the cabinet. That is a dead air space and will delay an activation. The Smoke Detector needs to be mounted on the ceiling and at last a foot away from the walls. The CO detector needs to be mounted as the instructions state in order for it to work properly. Just for the record CO is a colorless, odorless gas that readily mixes with air.
CO detectors are usually recommended to be mounted low near the floor.
@@sunnyqzado3455 Since there are so many different types and styles of detectors, We (The FD) always would recommend following whatever the manufacture of the specific detector stated as far as mounting goes. We would also always suggest one with a digital readout of the PPM of CO which would help us in the long run.
@@sunnyqzado3455 Correct on the CO detector. It isn't about the detector, CO is heavier than air, so it settles . By the time you have high CO at the top of the cabinet, everyone is dead that's sitting in the chairs. But if you have it near the floor, you'll catch elevated CO levels before it's a problem.
Good call on the smoke alarm, I was about to say the same!
@@mitchanderson931 Actually...The vapor density for carbon monoxide is 0.97, as referenced in Section 9: Physical and chemical properties of an applicable product safety data sheet. So, comparing CO's vapor density of 0.97 to that of air (1), reveals that carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air.
All the things that your family has been going through I'm glad to see you keep making videos you will always have the memories.
I love all the positive changes you are trying to do at your family farm
Glad as always to see Anna the Corndog!
Nice! Glad to see the tiny house and farm coming along!
Lawn mowing tip:...round corners, so its a smooth flow around the beautiful grass as you mow....no, forward, back up, etc...
is it a propane tank?, suggestion:....4' around tank, black weed barrier ( thick type), lay it down, then a heavy amount of river rock (1"- 2")
gravel in a natural color combo...paint the tank.
You're doing really well, Cole....I love beautiful clean lines in a yard too. 😊🇺🇲👍🙏🌞
Daddy Cornstar @ 13:54 trying to pronounce “composite” had me in literal tears!!! 😂. Thanks for making my night!
I think this is first time seeing the corvette with a sink and furniture. Nice place to hang out and have meetings about the corn and beans.
The close up of the weed whacker working was really cool.
Glad to see the house being worked on again, what a beautiful farm you guys have Cole
That's the second best SimpliSafe video I've seen on RUclips. The best one is from MrsMillenialFarmer.
The crops look so good. I'm just praying we have no crop destroying storms this year.
Mount a power bar up under the cabinet, that way you can plug in the simpsafe stuff without chewing up wall outlets and you can put a couple night lights on the bar lighting the countertop so someone bopping in at night won't loose their dark-sight.
Thanks for showing the end result at your office/cantine/lounge area. I was always curious to see how it had turned out! Very nice!
Nice Work Guys!, Man cave is looking good, Your getting a lot done, Nice to see Justin again today, and Nice job on the simply safe. Nice to see you using it on the house and the Bin site, will be very handy when your all in the fields and need to see whats going on for sure. Thank You as always for bringing us along on your Journeys, Praying for a Bountiful 2022 harvest for you guys and can't wait to see whats next.......
With those comfy chairs in the "dryer" shack, you need to start calling it the "napping" shack for Daddy Cornstar.
Beautiful!! And progress on the house. Woop, woop!!
Hi cole….I want to say I’m so sorry for ur loss. I myself am going thru metastatic stage 3 breast cancer…but so far so good! Grandpa John had his family around him and God and that was just enough for him. I know when my time comes, whenever that is, I only need my family and God as well. God test his soul and God bless you and your family! Luv ur videos, would luv to meet you and everyone one day.
I push mow my acre yard once a week and weed whack every other week and I also find it very relaxing. The porch is looking really nice and I like all the plans you have for the edging of trees and around porch, it’s going to look so pretty.
Look at pouring a concrete curb and use a press or something(cannot remember the term for it) to make it look like cobblestone lined drive. It will help with weeds or Grass creeping into gravel drive, plus add some curb appeal to to your drive. As others commented, I also agree around trees and front of house(landscaped areas, as your zero turn front tire can ride in that little trench.
Can't wait to see u your finished home on outside(and inside). You are a hard working and smart young man.
Oh your deck really looks great. I love the color!
Thanks Cole. Great video.
I love that the vintage folding chair made it into the dryer shack.
Anna, Anna. Always so excited to see Anna. Cole, you know you are ruining Daddy Cornstar’s reasons for taking short naps in the dryer shack. Daddy CS you are just gonna have to say, I am going to take a nap 😴 Don’t bother me until I am done 😂
Love learning about farm life you and your family are a very hard-working group. Thank you for all that you do it let us see about your life. Love Chicago grandma
Great Video Cole Nice To see You Back.
The corvette is coming along nicely! Would love a walk through when it's all done!
You weed whacked the lilies!!! 😲💐💐
So glad that the corvette garage is coming along nicely. Thanks for taking us along on your daily activities.
Learning a lot about all involved in farming and how little things can make a big difference. I’m no farmer but live in old farmhouse surrounded by corn and cotton fields. I notice here in Texas they elevate the planted rows about 10” to a foot where that’s not done there. I assume that’s to prevent flooding with heavy rains but not sure.
My house is 1920ish and big but not near the size of your casa. Zero insulation and on piers here as basement would be a pond. The winters here aren’t near what y’all have but that 500 gallon propane tank last me 3 weeks in winter and still cold.
Great job on the patio ☀️
AWESOME video Cole. Thank you so much
CO2 detector is meant to be placed about 1' off the floor. That gas is heavier and will be more dense at a lower level. Gives you the to exit the premises!
It's CO not CO2. And it's not heavier than Air.
Guess your looking for canisters for pellet throwing toys ....CO2. LMAO
@@hauptmann6 it may not be heavier than air but it heats faster than air and moves up as it heats. CO detectors should be placed 5 ft above the floor.
@@626pingj Actually they all work a bit differently and should be mounted as per the manufactures instructions. Many CO detectors are plug in units and they are far from 5 feet off the floor. Follow the instructions for best results. (Retired Firefighter here) CO is just slightly lighter than air and will mix readily.
Hi Anna ! I haven't seen you in a long time. ❤
Cole i noticed you put your co detector up high . Co detectors work best lower to ground level. Co is heavier then air so by the time it gets up high to detect co could be a problem as you would be breathing it in for much longer then needed if you put it lower stay safe
So right my friend
yeah. by the time it gets up there, you won't care...
CO detector down low, smoke detector up high.
I would think there would be instructions on the packages.
I don't see how the smoke detector will detect smoke either just laying their.
Nice when people step up & share things they know! So kind!
Hopefully, Nave wasn't too attached to the Lillies that bit the big one from the weed whacker....
Am I the only one who fast forwards through all the simply safe stuff??
No.
I like the clean sharp edge design for around your porch and driveway.
Roundup is my friend when it comes to weed whacking.
nice to see the deck getting finished. i was surprised u weed wacked the orange day lillies. those will come back every yr. You may want to double up on ur landscape fabric/weed barrier. and if u have to pull grass or weeds best way to get the root and all is to give them a good soak 1st. really think it will b nice with the landscape blocks and rock around the trees and house. Have u considered using any of those boulders in the landscape or along the edge of the drive? i wanted to drill one of my boulders so i would run a hose up it and make a boulder fountain in my landscape but didnt feel like pulling all the rock out and digging the hole for the water basin. it sure would look fabulous and be relaxing to listen to in the evenings. thanks for sharing.
WOSER love the video on Simply Safe! Answered a ton of questions. Very positive.
Thanks for sharing your time
Hey guys nice upgrade on the little house.👏👏👏👏😊
Cole, its free tip Monday. When you are spraying glyphosate and you start to rinse your tank when you're finished, capture some of the first rinse water and use it to spray the weeds around your house. There will be more than enough herbicide in those first couple of gallons to kill every weed around the house. I made the mistake of walking across my grass to get the mail when I got home from spraying all day and killed the grass with every footstep and my boots were not even wet. Someone did it at the boss's house once but it wasn't me, I had already learned that lesson in my own yard.
That will kill the grass too, then around the house will be bare dirt which will erode away from wind and rain. When it starts to re-grow it will be 100% weeds for a bigger problem.
I agree spraying a few feet around the house around the propane tanks trees and the cracks in the cement wiil be much easier and will not erode the soil around house maybe a small trench if there's no rain gutters which can easily be fixed by filling it with some gravel and it beats having to drag out all that equipment saving time and money
The room looks great, it will be a nice place to take a break and a little nap! Wow the price of wood sure hasn’t gone down much!
Yeah you could lock it Cole, the porch is going to be awesome when finished 🤷♀️❤️💯
Just a thought. We did your idea under the trees. Worked great first 3-4 years, but the trees grew and heaved the bricks and pulled the landscape fabric. Needless to say it ended up a mess and we removed everything. Just an FYI.
The house is looking good and closer to being finished.
"anti theft wheels"😂😂 cracked me up! Thanks for the video!
I suggest some washable covers on your tiny house recliners.
Cole thanks for showing a glimpse of how you edit your videos. First time I've seen this on a farmtube channel. 👍
AS ALWAYS GREAT VIDEO. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
Getting it done
You work so hard physically mentally everything. I feel lazy and yet at the end of the day I'm exhausted. On another note that deck is gorgeous and the weed whacking was awesome to see it was neat to see it take those weeds down and clean things up
Cole, we've got that same decking only in a lighter color. Use a plastic snow shovel in the winter to remove snow. Also it gets real slick after rain or sleet so no running. Love the improvements. We painted our LP tank last year. I would recommend you do that as well.
Cole just a suggestion don't use the landscaping rocks I've learn the hard way when the rock spread onto your lawn they become like bullets and wreck your siding on your house. Also you end up going through a lot of mower blades. If you have a push mower you end up with scares on your shins.
I used lava rocks and the deer kick them everywhere. into the lawn.
😨
The house looks amazing 👏 😍!
You should put a camera on the pit to count how many loads are being dumped or loaded per day. It will help with keeping track of your load tickets.
Your porch looked better with the flowers growing around it . 😘
You have finally grownup. No more juvenile intro. Will now to continue watching.
The decking looks FABULOUS 👍👍👍
Your home is going to be sooo beautiful!
Great episode, Cole, things are moving along very nicely. 😁👌👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Maybe rethink Rock around tree landscaping. It eventually will start growing weeds and is a PITA to pull. Mulch, with Preen sprinkled in it to kill weeds works better.
Please do some landscaping plants and flowers. I hate seeing houses with no landscaping. It softens the look and makes it look so much better!
timestamp 15:26; death dance of the orange daylilies...
@@monabale8263 I saw! 😢
You could still use the holes for the black cord by tacking the cord to the underside of the cabinet from left front to rear right.
Command cord hooks 👍
Have a goodnight Cole and family.
Hi and great to see you back say hi to Nava and the porch is looking great 👍
Put a sensor and cam on the recliner thats were dc is going which is good he wants you and cooper too take the reins more and more.
Good you’ve got SimpliSafe set up. Very busy family.
Glad you're uploading again
All that new stuff you look like a kid on Christmas, hope that security stuff keeps place nice and secure..
Hey Cole great video. Really enjoy the channel. Keep it up. Love the Fort Knox feel of the dryer shack.
I'm just glad you guys are walking alright with all those acres
A nursery just replaced a row of trees for me. They made a trench around them for weekly watering to stay to the root ball. They are returning to put mulch around them to hold moisture.
I cried ( sort of) when you weedwacked the Orange flowers down😢😢😢😢
Loved watching a 10 min ad
Nice to see the progress around house/porch/lawn. Will be awesome when all is said and down. When did you have the wind turbines installed? Are you off-grid? Do you sell surplus energy? Where is your girlfriend? Love to know more. I can always tell when you folks are super busy .....lack of haircuts ....lol. real sorry about your grandpa dying. So sad. You will treasure the memories.❤
My family runs a farm in Kansas they are needing rain badly please pray for Ecton farms !🙏🙌
The weed whacking time-lapse was the most satisfying thing I saw tonight.
Ask SimpliSafe if they have partnered with a battery powered solenoid control valve manufacturer. Put that on the water supply. When the moisture detector detects the system would send the command to the valve to close. Also could be a very ordinary solenoid valve powered by a wi-fi enabled control relay in the corvette but then you'd hafta run the power wires to the solenoid valve.
One of the other guys made the suggestion of not using landscape bricks(usually called bullet edgers). I agree but I think you should a metal edging. It’s clean and simple to install. Usually comes in 4, 6 and 8 inch heights. Might cost a little more but will save on having to do labor again once the bricks are installed.
Daddy cornstar looks so nice in his bright white tucked in white shirt. 😍
Keep up the great work man. God bless the farm and family brother
Glad to see the progress!! Say hi to Nave!!
They are plowing under what's left of the corn crop at the Texas coastal areas. Hope the cotton makes it.
Awesome guys 👏 😎
Thanks for sharing buddy
We gotten very little rain here in Texas. We have a mobile watering system that pumps water from our lake. The lake is spring fed. Looking forward to the next cutting of hay. Sorghum crop is looking to be the highest yield we have ever had. Our Barley and ry are looking good.
Im with DC. Just because you have a sensor on the refrigerator door some one (DC) will still have to check to make sure the milk and Oreo's are still in there. That could be very time consuming.
Just a reminder about the controls cabinet. Make sure you have proper back ups of anything programmed inside (drives, graphics panel, etc.). That way if or when there is a controls issue you have the files to have whoever is troubleshooting/replacing anything the files to restore whatever program(s). I've seen a few customer's not have back ups and their plants were down for several weeks.
What video editing software do you use?
Was waiting for more work on the house
Crazy. Here in Texas everything is dried up and the corn is harvested or plowed under. Y’all are just getting the growing season ramped up.
We have a SimpliSafe system here are our house. Love it.....
Awesome video Cole.
Thanks for another great video.
Hey Cole. Looks like lots of people are going help out with your landscaping... 🤣
I didn’t need to watch a commercial on Simply Safe just for you guys to make more money. You are lucky for Justin on being your carpenter
Right on, good looking hardware Titan hooked you up with for the shack :)
