Great example of someone who rode the inspirational line of genius and madness.

In every interview I've seen of Burroughs, he's fidgeting in his chair, constantly drinking water, and sounding like he just got over a bad bout of laryngitis. Fascinating man and artist.

Who says it was water? Anyway, if it was, maybe with a voice like that there is some throat condition that needs taking care of. To me he sounds like an old tree who can talk, and his fidgeting comes from the fact that he is never superficial and has to dredge up his responses from his deep roots. Maybe he's uncomfortable with that.

What Burroughs said about a doctor advising never to talk "in front of" or in the presence of a patient during an operation, My Dad was having a very serious cardiac procedure done, have a artery replaced or relocated, and they were using a experimental anesthesia drug on him. He got EXTREMELY upset mid-surgery and after and claimed the anesthesiologist and the doctor had a argument over the dosage while he "was under". The doctor (a seemingly responsible Indian man who was respected by his colleagues) absolutely denied the conversation had occurred. Of course I believed my Dad. At that point the surgery was over---a relative success---and the only thing we wanted to do was calm down my father post-operation. But I always believed my Dad clear to this moment--and if I could have got my hands on that anesthesiologist---I think we would have had some very strong words. It's VERY DANGEROUS to upset someone in that predicament.

I think Burroughs had very little tolerance for women (at least on a personal level). So the few he liked---Jane Bowles for example stand out. I think he must have respected Acker a lot to sit down and do this with her. She seems like a sharpie---and knows how to sooth his ego in the proper moments.

For sure, Scientology and dianetics plays a big part of burroughs early cosmology and was a reference point thru out his career. The book 'Scientology William burroughs and the weird cult'is a fascinating exploration of Burroughs involvement.

A magician better than Crowley some have said. Acker who was a minor writer can't get anywhere near the true mystic of Burroughs . There was always this fabulation of meta evil ( the soft machine ) Vs a magical world . These days one misses a figure like Burroughs -but time has moved on people's artistic expectations are very low he was one of 3 fictional masters that formed my magical way - including Huysmans and Houellebecq .

What you would expect women's ( studies ) speak - women don't have the subjectivity that is objective rarely can that match the predation of male intellect and with out rapist fantasy Hellenism Sabine you wouldn't be making any comments on social media -because it wouldn't exist and neither would you - get thee to a nunnery ! Acker was writing with crayons compared to Huysmans . The nature of Matriarchy is destructive of any progress - Unwin's Sex and Culture can't be refuted as anthropology - because it's your nasty bone record.
