The amount of times he says "hey there!" cheerfully at something that is obviously a monster while walking closer to it and then yelps fearfully when he dies is incredible. You would've thought at max three times would be enough to teach him to be more careful but nope, he just wants to greet his new friends!

Optimism is just another tool, but a useful one. the thing about horror games is that they try to use your mind against you by making you afraid. After all... Isn't it better being able to see the monsters than having them move unpredictably in the dark? I can imagine I'd be even worse playing the whole game without monsters and finding out you were alone the whole time, running away from absolutely nothing there but a few noises.

To be honest, for some reason the monsters were not really that scary, but rather the people were the ones that got me rather scared.
We actually hoped a bit that some would feel that way.

Just hearing the neighbor in pain and crying made me sad- than see him slowly grow into a weird plant thing made me even more sad-

I've gotta hand it to the devs, they really managed to grab my interest with this game. They must have had their hands full making this game as they reached out and found some pretty good voice actors for it. I do find it quite humerus when all these people ask the person without arms to pick up stuff lol. This game is hands down spooky because you aren't armed and have no way to defend yourself. I do find it quite handy that they give you the "L" key to respawn yourself in case you get stuck. Overall, I think they took a very hands-on approach and had all hands on deck while making this, and it really shows!

Losing limbs/senses is my greatest fear, if I lost one I don't think life would no longer be worth living anymore, god bless the amputees and disabled people out there, they are a lot stronger than I am.

Okay guys it was a joke and I myself generally dislike amogus. I was using it mockingly, in a way.
At 39:22 you see a text on the wall that says "LAUFEN MACHT FREI". In german it means "walk sets you free". It is a reference of the slogan found on the entrance of the Auschwitz concentration camp, which says "ARBEIT MACHT FREI", or "work sets you free" in english.
The piles of clothes, glasses, and shoes, as well as the war time letters and allusions to genetic tampering on patients that are definitely captured and seemingly tortured, all strong concentration camp vibes
There were so many times watching this that I forgot you have no arms. I thought to myself...'why not go grab one of those spears on the wall' oh right...no arms 'why not not just try to turn that valve to shut off the poison coming out of the pipe' oh yeah...no arms...this game constantly reminds you and trolls about having no arms in the most messed up ways...😑

my favorite character is the neighbor so far and I feel sad for him, especially since I have a rough understanding of Norwegian and hearing him crying like that saying "jeg kan ikke bevæge mig" (I cannot move) made me feel bad in a weird way. like normally I would just feel bad if it was in english or an unknown language but me knowing some but not all of the language gave me a very strange horrible feeling.
We're glad to hear that. For that was what we hoped someone would experience when they played the game. Ok, you may not have played the game, but you got the experience anyway.

It was actually Danish but all the Scandinavian languages are similar. The devs are apparently Danish too.
That horrible feeling makes sense; after all, you understand enough to know they are suffering, but (presumably) not enough to communicate with them, let alone help or at least provide some comfort. You know that this person is all alone in their suffering, accentuated by the language barrier, and you aren’t in any position to help. That is terrifying.

The type of horror game that just makes me feel a sense unease that only Neverending Nightmares and some select segments of Fran Bow have managed to make me feel.

I'm not sure if the food is actually supposed to be hot and steaming - all consumable food seems to have a 'steam' effect to draw attention from the player.
Well, hot food is supposed to be a source of comfort. Maybe the player is imagining the food being hot for comfort?

So this game has an amazingly creepy atmosphere. More so than games that try to be existential horror much harder, it feel like. It's all the little details of how dehumanizing it all is, I think.

I like how almost every British or Europe game I watched has some theme or background of their Health care system just collapsed and the said system is now a nightmare.
Waking up at 3am with missing legs and suddenly u saw something with 2 red eyes looking at u in the window but it was actually a cat

okay so heres my interpretation of the lore: some guy wanted to make super soldiers, and he wanted them to be able to regenerate lost tissue. so he started kidnapping and wiping the memories of random people, then amputating them and trying to get them to regenerate their body parts. some of them went insane, some died, and some turned into monster-mutants.
I sure hope the old woman makes it 🥺
