Ah! It's great to finally actually see Rosalind in a video! I listen to her rendition of On My Own every day on the CD cast recording I have. She, Chasten Harmon, and Samantha Barks are my favorite performers for this song! :)
Wait a minute. Hold up. Are people really getting upset because Rosalind added a couple of notes to one word in the song?... if that's all you got from this performance then obviously we didn't watch the same video
I don’t think this version is as dramatic with the baracade as the original version was it was so cool seeing to huge parts come together from either side of the stage
I don't mind riffs at all. . . LOVE them . . . . however. . . I mind THAT riff. Granted - she's an amazing singer - but she certainly could have executed that better. To the anti-riffers - the higher notes of "pretending" that we've become used to - was already a riff. Listen to the original Broadway and London recordings. That's actually how the song is written. Linzi Hately first recorded the higher "pre-" in a documentary called Stage by Stage. It was then solidified into the Les Mis repertoire when Kaho Shamada sang it on the Complete Symphonic Cast Recording in 1988.
Hi there , would you please please please be able to upload lovely ladies and at the end of the day from the tour :) been looking for ages , nice videos btw keep them coming
To all of those who say that Rosalind sounds too poppy, take a look at Frances Ruffelle from the original cast. (she is awesome... Even though she sometimes sounds like Cyndi Lauper)... I really love the riffs Rosalind does, and as somebody else said, they dont seem out of place for me...
Not that I don't agree with the fact the vocal riffs are a bit out of place in Les Mis, I particularly like them. Especially if they are trying to appeal to a slightly younger larger scoped audience. And she doesn't over do it, and the one that she does on 'pretending' is very emotionally motivated. And if it was wrong the director and writers would have probably told her to not do it. Maybe that's why they chose her...
totally agree, vocal runs are hideously unnecessary for a show like les mis. i get that eponine has become a bit more broadway-belter/pop-esque vocally, but NO riffing dear god please
Truly one of my favorite eponine versions.
Rosalina has just a great voice. Love the emotion in her tone. I’m a fan!

I like the way Javert acts here - both drawing on the floor and staying calm afterwards. :)

Basically, yeah.

I absolutely adore Rosalind James as Eponine
THIS IS AMAZING, going in my favorites

Eponine is not supposed to be anywhere near as operatic or even classical. She is coarse and rough and so the pop style suits.
my favorite!!
