My favourite Cosette! She acts her in such a bubbly, realistic and likeable way. Not stiff like a lot of the Cosettes I've seen. And then her voice is just gorgeous
I love Katie Hall as Cosette. You have to remember that Cosette is a teenage girl, and doesn't need to be as stiff and perfect as most actresses portray her.
I have to admit that acting and vocal wise, this performance is one of the best I have ever seen. The scene really rings true and the three voices blend extremely well.
listen i have spend HALF AN HOUR getting myself back into the les mis rabbit hole to find this video just for the way rosalind james screams "just" in "just the old man and the girl" (and OH MY GOD THE WAY KATIE HALL JUMPS AROUND WITH EXCITEMENT this cast is so good)
Katie Hall is one of the few actresses to play Cosette that I actually can stand. She makes her more than an ingenue...she makes her a real girl with actual desires and personality!
When I saw Les Miz in Paris I was so impressed with Katie Hall's voice. I remember I was wondering who was this actress with such a perfect interpretation. Cossette was never my fav but after watching Katie she just blew me away!
Thank you All for teaching me real Theater. You all are teaching me voices, acting, more than I ever paid attention. Yes. This Cossette is young and innocent. Love my new Theater family. You make me study. Great!!!
it's mostly cuz Cosette has very little stage time so we don't see her personality a lot but Katie's able to use what little time she has to her advantage
I like that Eponine's not sweet; I don't think she'd be very sweet growing up with the Thenardiers, living on the streets. And then she goes and hangs out with Marius and the guys and she learns to flirt with him just like one of the guys. She never learned how to be girly, and so then it makes sense that Marius falls in love with Cosette, who is all those things, while never giving Eponine a second glance. It makes less sense when Eponine is sweet and pretty but Marius still falls for Cosette.
I couldn't agree more! Frances Rufelle's voice is totally unusual and awesome! Lea's is sweet and STRONG (reaaalllllyy strong), and Samantha's is beautiful and innocent, I'm really glad she got the part for the movie!
Just wonderful all around, Cosette's cute AF, good Eponine, The Marius is... decent, and Thenardier, holy shit, it's like he's literally spitting poison with every word.
X The DRUMS! in this were thrilling to play with, and poking Jonathon Alden as Brujon in the eye every night would tickle me. It's sometimes the little things and detail.x
I actually really like this Eponine! For the same reason I really like Samantha Barks Eponine. Eponine's voice isn't supposed to be sweet, and her character isnt supposed to be sweet. Her and Cosette are essentially foils. Eponine should have a more rough Mezzo to contrast Cosettes innocent Soprano in my opinion, and I think she does a good job at it! She has a great voice
She IS truly the best Cosette I've seen yet. I would love to see her perform live! But I would prefer Samantha Barks as Eponine. Don't get me wrong, Rosalind is really good. :)
WOW!!! I remember watching this way back when I was in high school when it was touring in my state. It was the first time I saw it on stage, before I just had the 10th anniversary recording to listen to, just one year before the movie was released. That was such a long time ago, I never thought I'd see this version again.
I think Katie Hall is a great Cosette, she really showcases her enthusiasm perfectly. I just didn't really agree with how hostile she came across when Valjean entered? anyone else feel that way?
I agree! She's so much more than just someone who loves a guy who doesn't love her back. The reason why I like her so much is cuz she's tough and street smart. I wish the musical had more chances to portray that side
I actually love this Eponine! She's one of my favorites. She's the only one to have ever made me cry. (I of course love Samantha Barks, but this one is fantastic.) And remember, Eponine was NEVER a delicate flower! There's no reason for her to sound "sweet"! Because she wasn't, she was a street rat. (And if you read the book...then you see there for sure isn't a reason for her to sound sweet.) I love this cast. I like Katie Hall, I do, but sometimes her voice sounds a little like a chipmunk.
Wow. Is that really Gareth Gates? He has developed amazingly since the spiky-haired kid who won Pop Idol. If his name wasn't in the description here I would never have guessed it was him.
I love this cast! Although I have to say my favorite cast was when Alistair Brammer was Marius, Katie was Cosette and Nancy Sullivan was Epoine, but this is my second favorite cast definitely!
I love how the characters are played mostly book-accurate. I just wish we could get some genuine grudging, spiteful bitchiness from Eponine, most productions of the musical make her too nice and Mary-Sueish. This one's better, but just not all the way there.
The song before 'A Heart Full of Love' is not entitled 'In My Life'. It's 'Rue Plumet'. Therefore, the listing is: "Rue Plumet", "A Heart Full of Love", and "The Attack on The Rue Plumet".
should be more exact with appearances. Like Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway's physical transformations for their roles. Stage doesnt necessesarily have to be as accurate, but I believe that film is another conversation entirely
A shame, that she had to play with Nick Jones at the anniversairy show. That guy might be good in po music. But in Les Mis he was miserable looking at the rest of the cast Alfie, Ramin, Hadley....
I really like them all-- including this Eponine, though i do agree that her voice seems more suited toward R&B. I dunno, maybe she was trying to go Francis Ruffelle, who is completely and utterly awesome (also Lea Salonga!).
I think Gareth should have stated this version better, because lot of people think this affair was true. I don't know, but is said "where there is smoke..."
I like Rosalind but Frances ruffelle is my favourite. She is street wise and tough with strange pronunciation. She can sound delicate too. Rosalind sounds too popy like Leona Lewis riffs and stuff.
YOUR AWESOME! hahaha I think the Eponine in here was good, but she still has that "black" touche, a unique personality which only black people have... oh that voice is for R & B
I love this cast! Except the Valjean. He was too hard when addressing Cosette. I love how melodies return and remind us of different themes. The entire show is brilliant and I love a racially blind cast! Cameron Macintosh does this all the time! Lea Salonga has been both Eponine and Fantine and Norm Lewis was Javert. I do agree that film is a different story. Since cameras are up in the actors face constantly, it gelps if they look like the character. This isnt racist because i feel like film
Yeah you're right, but i didn't like the part of *there's been no one like him anywhere anywhere where he is* I think it sounds a little bad :S But, listening to his again, I don't dislike her so much. And I'm a huge fan of Ruffelle's Eponine :)
i really like this Éponine, she's got that spunk.. i don't know, she's great. I like Samantha Barks too, but i have yet to see a performance like this: in which Éponine shows some street attitude...
My favourite Cosette! She acts her in such a bubbly, realistic and likeable way. Not stiff like a lot of the Cosettes I've seen. And then her voice is just gorgeous
same 😊
Usually I didn't care that much about Cosette because she seemed like a uninteresting character, but Katie makes her impossible not not watch!
Katie Hall is without a doubt, the best Cosette, and my favorite!!!
she is my favorite cossette. Her voice the emotion love it!
Hands down, my favorite Cosette. Finally, she has a personality and a purpose. Love this performance.
Wow. Katie's note at the end of "A Heart Full of Love"; absolutely flawless and pure. How is that even possible?
She should've had the part in the movie. Katie will always always be the best Cosette for me.
I love Katie Hall as Cosette. You have to remember that Cosette is a teenage girl, and doesn't need to be as stiff and perfect as most actresses portray her.
Think that’s down to bad direction in all honesty
She makes Cosette a Disney princess... :)
I have to admit that acting and vocal wise, this performance is one of the best I have ever seen. The scene really rings true and the three voices blend extremely well.
listen i have spend HALF AN HOUR getting myself back into the les mis rabbit hole to find this video just for the way rosalind james screams "just" in "just the old man and the girl" (and OH MY GOD THE WAY KATIE HALL JUMPS AROUND WITH EXCITEMENT this cast is so good)
Katie Hall is perfect. She give's of the naive-ness that Cosette has amazingly.
Katie's "I'm awake" brings tears to my eyes. 😍😍
Which singers played the other leads in Paris?
Katie hall has one of the best voices alive at the moment
This is one of the best trios in Les Miz history tbh
relatable
Thank you All for teaching me real Theater. You all are teaching me voices, acting, more than I ever paid attention. Yes. This Cossette is young and innocent. Love my new Theater family. You make me study. Great!!!
it's mostly cuz Cosette has very little stage time so we don't see her personality a lot but Katie's able to use what little time she has to her advantage
I'm playing cosette in my highschool's production of les mis and i can definitely say Katie Hall is my inspiration for her!
The Thenardiers were pretty nice to her in the book, though. As a child, they pampered her with female clothing and gave her dolls to play with.
I love how she sings "so dark, so dark"
I couldn't agree more! Frances Rufelle's voice is totally unusual and awesome! Lea's is sweet and STRONG (reaaalllllyy strong), and Samantha's is beautiful and innocent, I'm really glad she got the part for the movie!
Just wonderful all around, Cosette's cute AF, good Eponine, The Marius is... decent, and Thenardier, holy shit, it's like he's literally spitting poison with every word.

her cosette has so much depth i love it
Katie Hall is flawless.
This set is soo beautiful....its the best set in this show...its so lush and romantic...really gets the feeling across
I LOVE Katie Hall as Cosette! She adds so much spunk and energy to the character! Especially that cute little twirl!
Katie is my absolute favorite Cosette, she just brings her to life :)
This is a wonderful posting. A great show and these are terrific performances. As good as I've seen.
She is the best Cosette ever!!:D
I actually really like this Eponine! For the same reason I really like Samantha Barks Eponine. Eponine's voice isn't supposed to be sweet, and her character isnt supposed to be sweet. Her and Cosette are essentially foils. Eponine should have a more rough Mezzo to contrast Cosettes innocent Soprano in my opinion, and I think she does a good job at it! She has a great voice
Katie hall is beautiful with blonde hair!!!
She IS truly the best Cosette I've seen yet. I would love to see her perform live!
But I would prefer Samantha Barks as Eponine. Don't get me wrong, Rosalind is really good. :)
Katie hall is so pretty and her voice is just goals :) xx
I’m in love with this Cosette more than Eponine loves Marius!
Impossible.
WOW!!! I remember watching this way back when I was in high school when it was touring in my state. That was such a long time ago, I never thought I'd see this version again.
I LOVE KATIE HALL!! I just played Cosette in my senior show and definitely got my inspiration from her! No one likes Cosette...but I do!
my favourite Cosette
I love Katie and really like her as Fantine too.
This Cosette is adorable :)
I'm playing Cosette in our schools version of les mis and I'm SUPER excited
I love Katie Hall!
I think Katie Hall is a great Cosette, she really showcases her enthusiasm perfectly. I just didn't really agree with how hostile she came across when Valjean entered? anyone else feel that way?
She's cute as a button, what even
Oh Katie Hall, she melted me every night, shes a rare girl.
Katie Hall is perfect.
She's fantastic.
I agree! She's so much more than just someone who loves a guy who doesn't love her back. The reason why I like her so much is cuz she's tough and street smart. I wish the musical had more chances to portray that side
perfect. katie and gareth are perfect!
I love this song
Great portrayal (and singing!) of Marius. Good job, Gareth
I love her little twirl at does he know im alive
What! Katie Hall does great!
I like Katie Hall, I do, but sometimes her voice sounds a little like a chipmunk.
love this.cast x
Wow I just found my new favorite Eponine
Katie is mesmerizing...
The best Cosette!
Wow. Is that really Gareth Gates? He has developed amazingly since the spiky-haired kid who won Pop Idol. If his name wasn't in the description here I would never have guessed it was him.
Couldn't agree more!
love her voice
I love her
I love this cast! Although I have to say my favorite cast was when Alistair Brammer was Marius, Katie was Cosette and Nancy Sullivan was Epoine, but this is my second favorite cast definitely!
Love Gareth, Katie, and Ashley Artus (who plays Thenardier)!
Cosette was also brunette in the novel and somehow you don't seem to mind that enough to comment on it
So ironic that when the girls see each other, Eponine is in rags this time.
Physical description doesn't matter in the musical. She has a good voice, that's all that matters.
I love how the characters are played mostly book-accurate. I just wish we could get some genuine grudging, spiteful bitchiness from Eponine, most productions of the musical make her too nice and Mary-Sueish. This one's better, but just not all the way there.
Clearly her talent was more important than her color. I wouldn't call that a mistake.
For the first time in my life, I'm agree with Marius to choose Cosette instead of Eponine!
(Sorry for my english, I'm french...)
The song before 'A Heart Full of Love' is not entitled 'In My Life'. It's 'Rue Plumet'. Therefore, the listing is: "Rue Plumet", "A Heart Full of Love", and "The Attack on The Rue Plumet".
This is my favourite youtube comment ever
Katie is by far the best Cosette out there !
Saw Katie at the 02, she has matured nicely
Dang, I wish they hadn't cut the intro to Attack on Rue Plumet.
They did?
Yeah, it sounds great plus it establishes Eponine's motivation.
yup :)
As much as I'm Team Eponine, Katie is by far the best Cosette :)
should be more exact with appearances. Like Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway's physical transformations for their roles. Stage doesnt necessesarily have to be as accurate, but I believe that film is another conversation entirely
I LOVE GARETH GATES'S MARIOUS! ! ! !
He's a bigger name, more popularity. Sadly that's how it works a lot of times. But he honestly pleasantly surprised me.
Katie is a good cosette
Because of this, Katie hall and gareth gates had a relationship... lol Katie became Gareth's mistress
katie hall, the only cosette I actually don't hate at all.
That note at 3:50 tho (heart eyes)
Gareth Gates is great! Why oh why did they get bloody Nick Jonas to do the 25th concert and not him is beyond me.
She's not supposed to be completely sweet, but she doesn't lack sweetness either. Read the book :)
Who was Javert in this one
@ShamrockMaggieMay Who do u refer with Monty?
A shame, that she had to play with Nick Jones at the anniversairy show. That guy might be good in po music. But in Les Mis he was miserable looking at the rest of the cast Alfie, Ramin, Hadley....
I really like them all-- including this Eponine, though i do agree that her voice seems more suited toward R&B. I dunno, maybe she was trying to go Francis Ruffelle, who is completely and utterly awesome (also Lea Salonga!).
Is that Katie Hall?
I think Gareth should have stated this version better, because lot of people think this affair was true. I don't know, but is said "where there is smoke..."
KATIE :)
I like Rosalind but Frances ruffelle is my favourite. She is street wise and tough with strange pronunciation. She can sound delicate too. Rosalind sounds too popy like Leona Lewis riffs and stuff.
BagOfSticksFork I agree Frances Ruffelle is always will be the best eponine in my heart but Rosalind was good
YOUR AWESOME! hahaha I think the Eponine in here was good, but she still has that "black" touche, a unique personality which only black people have... oh that voice is for R & B
yeah i get your point. She's not a bad eponine but i don't love her. Glad to find a person that appriciates frances ruffelle
I love this cast! Except the Valjean. He was too hard when addressing Cosette. I love how melodies return and remind us of different themes. The entire show is brilliant and I love a racially blind cast! Cameron Macintosh does this all the time! Lea Salonga has been both Eponine and Fantine and Norm Lewis was Javert. i really like this Éponine, she's got that spunk.. i don't know, she's great. I like Samantha Barks too, but i have yet to see a performance like this: in which Éponine shows some street attitude...
