This is my go-to potato salad recipe! Perfect every time! I used to dread making potato salad and avoided it quite often. Now I actually enjoy it. Thank you so much for sharing.
Made your potato salad last weekend with your ribs along with some baked beans all done with the instant pot (separately of course) Incredible flavour and easy.
I've been using my instant pot quite a bit because of how easy the pressure cooking is. Today I made potato salad using your method -- what a breeze. Thank you for showing how it's done!
I just made some potato salad a few days ago in my instant pot and, Wow, is it easy, compared to boiling the potatoes and eggs. I'm really enjoying your videos.
Oh! Forgot to add that now Smoked Paprika is a must have spice in my arsenal. I had never tried smoked paprika before and it does add that little extra zest. It is really great on avocados.
Love this idea. Love making my Moms recipe but takes a lot longer. I would add just a little mustard and we use sweet pickles instead of dill!! Southern recipe. I will try this!! Love your videos.
I am usually not a big fan of potato salad, but you have changed my mind! I make it in an 8 qt and have even tried making half the recipe and the potatoes and eggs come out perfectly. I sent my mom a 3 qt and will be walking her through the steps. It will be her first time using the IP. I am anxious to see if the smaller IP needs no adjustment? I have recommended you on a couple of FB Instant Pot groups. Thank you for making this sooo easy!
I am so glad the video was helpful. I think you could do this in any size pot, so long as you have room for 1-1/2 cup water under your steamer basket. You might have to adjust how many potatoes to chop up, but if you don't overcrowd your pot, it should work work beautifully!
I walked my mom through it with her 3 qt. She made the whole recipe in it with no problem! She is going to use part of it to make potato salad, and like you, is going to use the potatoes for other meals. I cooked some after she hung up: half the potatoes but 6 eggs. Will use the excess eggs for other meals. Just to say the recipe is versatile with the same cooking instructions for all sized pots. Your method is so fast and easy! Thank you so much for this video!
Dang, you know how to make a video! I just watched two other potato salad videos for instant pot and one woman seemed too skinny to make good food and the other was so ditzy I couldn’t concentrate on the recipe! Great video!
My husband made potato salad last night and we have the same expandable steamer as you. How did you get the potatoes out? Did you wait until the inner pot cooled or scoop them out into a bowl? Husband tried just lifting the steamer up but had a hard time because the potato cubes wanted to fall out the sides after it was raised out of the inner pot.
I've gotten a new steamer basket since I made the video, with a nice pull-up handle. www.oxo.com/products/preparing/strainers-colanders-steamers/colander-stainless-steel-319. This works great! When we made the video, I think I scooped that potatoes out of the Instant Pot with a slotted spoon.
Any vegetable steamer you can buy at the grocery will work if it fits into your liner pan. I don't usually peel the potatoes, but if you are not as lazy as I am, you sure can. This steamer basket available on Amazon lifts out of the pan really easily: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HCBDF2?pf_rd_r=N00S443W2YF1FQD251QA&pf_rd_p=edaba0ee-c2fe-4124-9f5d-b31d6b1bfbee
Im going to try your recipe. First time I did potato salad in my Instant Pot it was an epic fail. So I went back to doing eggs for 6-0-6 and boiling potatoes separate. I think what I have to do is raise the pressure cook level from normal to high. Some other IP hack said never change this it will be ok. Yeah if you like hard raw potatoes and runny eggs.
Definitely pressure cook on high (or manual). I just made this salad again yesterday and it was fine. Be sure to cut your potatoes into bite-size pieces. I pressure cook for four minutes, then quick release. Put the eggs in an ice bath and let those potatoes cool before mixing in with all your other ingredients.
@@Tessknadler I have the 6 qt duo where you can adjust the high pressure cook level from normal (whatever that is) to high. I think it needs to be on high.
Here's a great tip I just learned about the eggs for this dish: (thanks to some youtube Angel whom I am eternally grateful to) Crack the eggs in a glass (oven safe) bowl. Something like a pyrex. Spray with pam first, place on top of potatoes. Then...simply cut up at the end. Makes life so much easier without peeling eggs!
Ready for Truth wow, I will have to try that. I will say that when I cook the eggs as directed in the video they are super easy to peel. But I will try your method!
Hmm. That has never happened to me, but I would suggest making some adjustments in this case. Cut your potato pieces smaller and up the cook time to 6 minutes. Good luck!
I don't have a steamer. Can I just put the potatoes and eggs in without the steamer? She did not show what setting she put the 4 minutes on. I just got a pot yesterday and don't know how to use it.
It might work to put the potatoes on the trivet that came with your Instant Pot, if you cut the potatoes in big enough chunks so they wouldn’t fall through. You can buy a vegetable steamer for just a few dollars at the grocery store, and it’s worth it. Cook on high if you don’t have a manual setting on your Instant Pot.
Love that you can cook the egg in there too! And the idea of using potatoes as a side
Anytime I make potato salad, I refer back to this video. Thank you so much for sharing it. It has made making potato salad so much easier.

Sandy Sanzenbacher Thanks! I’m with you- I LOVE making potato salad in my IP!

Looks amazing. I like that you show each step and how it looks once you are finished
Putting the eggs on top is genius! Thank you for this wonderful recipe that I will be taking to the office potluck!
Yelda Elhaj Yes, it makes it so easy! And I love that the potatoes are never mushy or undercooked! Enjoy!

Another terrific recipe! Can’t wait to try this out in my Instant Pot! Thanks for sharing!
Looks yummy.
I am going to make potato salad and potato soup.
Wow thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching! think I am going to make this potato salad again today. I love how easy it is.
Fabulous recipe, thank you...
Nice!!! Thanks for this great idea!
The eggs are one of the most magical thing about IP. I see you use the side of your thumb to get that peel off. Exactly what I do.
Great for breakfast potatoes. I bake my potatoes in instant pot to use as bakers, fried potatoes, mashed potatoes, hash browns and so on.
Excellent! Thanks for watching and for sharing!
Looks so yummy!!!💖

your awesome
Where did you get the steam basket? Is it just for the IP? And did you peel your potatoes?

Guy Davis Definitely needs to be on high. I never use any other option. Good luck!

Theresa Johnson Awesome!! Great video by the way. You are just lovely :)
Did the 4 minutes and my potatoes were still hard and my eggs were runny. :(

Thanks Theresa. Yes, I haven't given up. Just making adjustments for next time.
