@@PuertoRicanGrinderX It's perfectly relevant, considering there's no requirement to make videos on the most up-to-date lineup of the band... It's a vocal reaction/explanation channel, you'd think the most famous, more dynamic vocals would be highlighted over someone who released what is considered by the metal community to be one of the worst albums of all time.
I don't know if that's possible but if you could explain in the future growls of Alex Terrible that would be great. He has probably one of the most monstrous lows ever created by a human being.
this was awesome!! Thanks so much, very helpful! It would be really awesome if you did a video like this but with some slam band like abominable putridity or OCD. ive been trying to do slam gutturals and cant really figure it out
Really interesting! I've actually been experimenting with the "voice with distortion" scream style, similar to this. I call it "grit scream" (it's shorter to say lol, and makes sense in my head). I'm not really happy with my fry scream and how quiet and unreliable it still is, so for me grit scream helps get a similar vibe but a lot louder and is usually easier to do after I've been singing a lot. I notice if I sing a lot, my fry starts disappearing so yeah. And with being louder, I feel like if I decide to use it live, it'll sit better next to my clean singing and my false chord growls even without the sound engineer having to compensate. I've seen some girls using the fry/clean combo where the moment they start screaming live, you can't hear them anymore, and I really wanna avoid that. It is a little tricky to sustain the grit and sometimes I mess up the start, but I feel like if I keep at it, it could work really well for me. So it was great to see someone who's already got it down for some more inspiration! ^_^
Sire of sin was the first song I heard by cryptopsy. Heard on a tech/death/prog group to go check them out so I did. Heard sire, wasn't sure what to make of it but I liked it and couldn't stop listening ...... 2.5 years later (I think) and they're now my favourite band. Seen them live, listened to everything back to whisper supremacy and nothing has ever thrown me off. LOVE cryptopsy
I REALLY want to see a Tommy Rodgers of Between the Buried and Me video. My screams sound exactly like him and I know I do majority false chord screams and growls. His vocals have also improved so much since their Alaska album. Would love to get Mary's take on him as a clean and distorted vocalist. :)
My request is for Jeremy Mckinnon of ADTR react! I have never been able to tell what style it is. I would absolutely love to see that! I know it's a bit of an off-genre one...
Love Matt's vocals, but I feel like an inspection of Cryptopsy's vocals would be incomplete without some review of Lord Worm's efforts... Which might be categorized stylistically as 'escaped mental patient'
I would be interested to see some examples of high false chord or mixes of different registers of both fry and false chord throughout a song analysed at some point.
Please make an explenation video on Marcus Bridge from Northlane! He's sick both in clean and harsh singing, personally I can't understand what he does with his high pitch scream/yell
Please react to Joe Horvath of circle of dead children. This guy is a total beast! One, if not the most impressiv extrem metal vocalist. "Bring Her A Mushroom Cloud Pt. 1" would be nice though.
Hey! First, a big thanks to you, so far your channel is the first one that provides really precised, developed and easy to understand instructions to learn screaming techniques. I am on the road of fry scream and false cords scream thanks to your videos. I think this kind of format is really good to understand more in depth and with context how you can mix this kind of techniques, even though I am really far to get to this point. Finally, I've got a question for you: it is been a while that I sing and play the following song and I would like to know how far from metal singing techniques is the turvik throat singing that you can listen to in this video? Would you say it is closed from one technique or is it completely different? It's definitely voice and distortion at the same time but I don't understand the anatomy behind this. m.ruclips.net/video/2lnxs_DMUDk/видео.html
if youre looking for a good soloed scream to go over, there is this fairly new video of Devin Townsend doing full fry screams with only an acoustic guitar going in the back. its called "Devin Townsend | Love/Life | First Play Live"
@@mtlgtr-q6k sorry you need informed, but to call him a "singer", denies any credibility to your statement, and reduces it to just an opinion, and one only you and other ignorant, disrespectful minds. He is their most talented vocalist, and one of the best in the business. There are no one who can cover his tracks, just to say the least, and prove my point.

I expected Lord Worm but this was good.
I came here hoping to see Open Faced Surgery
@@PuertoRicanGrinderX because the quality of Lord Worm era Cryptopsy is galaxies beyond the Mcgachy era content.
@@PuertoRicanGrinderX and also because Lord Worm is a significantly more interesting, skilled, dynamic vocalist.

@@PuertoRicanGrinderX She's done other videos with non-current vocalists, so basically you're dumb and this is a weird hill to die on.
This is really awesome. Never seen this done before on RUclips. Thank you!
Would love to see this with Travis's vox from Cattle Decapitation.
Would love to see this.
Mary, I love what you are doing. I learn something new from all your videos.
Joe from gojira would be awesome 👍🏾
INTENSE AGREE!!! Joe is my idol of distorted voice.
Please! His voice is so distinct and consistently good
He’s no where near Lord worm
ACK! This is so good, Mary! Much appreesh for all the hardwork with these. And wow, Matt sounds like a cool dude.
Awesome video Mary, really cool insight into an artists technique!
You should do CJ McMahon from Thy Art Is Murder their new album is coming out

That photo of Matt was from the very first time I photographed them (2014 I think) at Armstrong Metalfest. Good times.

Pretty please do Travis from Cattle Decap
These videos are so cool! Thanks Mary
Chad Anderson Thanks Chad!! 🤘🤘
You should review Lord Worm's vocals, you can get the multitracks for Phobophile from Nail The Mix. Lots of people including me would be interested.
Can you analyze deviloof's Kisuke's vocals? I'm interested to know what is he doing with his voice. Best song to explore his voice range is Escape
That's what i would show to people who say metal singer have no talent! 🤗🤟🤟 we'll proove them wrong. Thx a lot!

Nice! I may have missed though, were all the high screams fry?Would really love to see this for Luc Lemay of Gorguts 🤘🤘🤘
Amazing work as usual!!!!
Still hoping for a video on Alex Terrible from Slaughter To Prevail !!! 👍
or any other chest resonant/tunnel throat heavy vocalist
Great video! Keep up the good work 👍
Saw the title.
Expected Lord Worm’s vocals.
Huh.
Pls go check live Cryptopsy show, Matt does even better live IMO.
Awesome video! It would be great if you could analyze Alex Terrible's technique.

I just saw them live with aborted! Excited to watch this video

I'd like to see her do BTBAM as well.
You should check out Tallah, it would be helpful if you could explain Justin Bonitz scream techniques.
Great video, but I wish it was Lord Worm
That would be a Canadian secret that we will never understand

Coool! \m/
JOE DUPLANTIER!
great episode mary!
Can you please do a video on Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation? The range and diversity of his vocal delivery is ridiculous
Please make an explenation video on Marcus Bridge from Northlane! He's sick both in clean and harsh singing, personally I can't understand what he does with his high pitch scream/yell
