It's always a nice day when there's a Steveo upload
An exciting video. I would like to thank the pilots for putting safety first. As always, very exciting and informative.
Ry😅 is the best 😅tt😅tt😊tttvvg. Gvelamd veg Gary gg
I love the old Cessna's when they are being used like this, they are so beautiful and classy! Good job boys!
Steveoooooh! Best aviation channel on the Tube! 😃😃
I love he's a ROSSI FAN!!!! I am too!
FANTASTIC VIDEO!! Way to switch things up Steveo!
I've only learned of those type of planes in MSFS 2020. They are very fun to fly! Glad he was smart enough to not push it! :)
Oh and never seen an air show done at dusk/night. I loved it!
The pass in the DIRT at the corkscrew on Casey Stoner in 2008 to me was the greatest moment in motorsports history. I was screaming when it happened.. I was soooo amazed.
That was such a good rivalry
Sky Rossi!
@@silasmarner7586 Great to see so many "Doctor' fans here!
I'm digging the 46 though, not sure if it's a tribute to Valentino Rossi which is even cooler, but yeah, speed is the key in the game! Great Content SteveO! 🤙🏼
100% a tribute to The Doctor 🤙🏻
That chrome body is gorgeous!
Excellent video Steve. Loved seeing the pilots view instead of watching from the ground.
Somebody is a Valentino Rossi fan . ☝️
That hadn’t registered with me until you said that!
#facts!
Very interesting segment! Thanks for bringing this STOL competition to your channel! Warren an excellent commentator. Wonderful videography at the end!
Refreshing to see a new video.. thanks Steve!
Kudos to the Rossi inspired graphics.
Beautiful aircraft and thanks for the ride along. Greg🇬🇧
Love that old 180! Great inside peek at how they do it!
Steveo… until I can pass a medical again and can afford to fly (this year). I get to live my pilot life through you… More new content brother… it’s encouragement sir.
The first time your ride the 500, ahhhhhh FAAAAAAACCCCKKKKK!!!!
Sincerely
"The Doctor" Valentino Rossi
He's like pro with the interaction with the camera.
VR46, legend. Small but lovely tribute
🤙🏻
Great video and ride-along! Love me some STOL action!
Love the Rossi tribute!!! One of the best motogp riders to ever exist. If you have never watched a motogp race, just look up Valentino Rossi highlights. He’s the Michael Jordan of motorcycle racing
O hell , I was thinking of the Indy car driver - Close huh ?
@@bobwilson758 they do race on the same type of tracks 😂
The Doctor 🤙🏻
I freakin love this behind the scenes look at the stol demo. Good stuff
Thanks Steveo for bringing us along.
This was a great video. I appreciate the ride a-long.
Thanks Steve. Fun and interesting to watch. That Lille ultra lite did well of course
I see a Valentino Rossi fan too.
Thank you for the STOL demo. Looks like fun.
Wow, that was different and entertaining. Thank you for uploading
Really interesting! Thanks for sharing and all the best to Warren for future events!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Love the 180 Tailwheel Beast
Good morning from Minnesota! Great episode!
thanks for the update I'll check it out
Great call.
That was fun! Thanks SteveO for that
Love the livery, the Vale 46 colors go so well with the chrome!
I like it… but I’m biased
Never heard of STOL until now. Great video
Sweet ride
Nice try, to bad about the prop surge. As usual Steveo1kinevo great camera work.
Thanks Mike! Unfortunate that Warren couldn’t complete the demo.
GOOD LUCK NEXT TIME WARREN
Thanks 👊
I fly a beat up 57’ 180A in western Alaska, PPonked mine for those heavy haul outs, love it!
It’s a work truck for sure 🤙🏻
@@WarrenGAviation I like watching your stol comps, would love to do that, my 180 is a light weight one with minimal panel like you, if your ever my way would love to show you around my playground, some people call it the bush, not many paved strips out here..
Man that would be a dream come true!!!
You ever come up, look me up, would love to visit and show you around!
Looks like Warren is a Valentino Rossi fan.
The tires look like something out of a cartoon. They're like donuts. Thank you for flying Air Rossi.
Hi Steveo and Hi Warren I did wave Back ( Warren LOL ) when Warren wave, I've always wave back anytime any One Waves I really did 😃😃😃 I wish I could had been there with you all, I hope one day I get to go flying again, I have been praying that I will get to fly.
Fun watch - SHORT - TAKE - OFF - LANDING 👍🇺🇸
Thanks Guys! Rich.
The music never disappoints.
warren is a natural on camera
That was awesome!!
Great video!!
Very nice video Steveo God bless you be Safe
Nothing better than the guys on the sideline with the signs. Whole bottle of Cuervo and a loud ass speaker.
Yo Steveo, I just want to meet you to get your music playlists! Love what you do brotha.
Sweet airplane and nice flying Warren!
Thanks 🙏
Brill a rossi fan too #46 ❤❤❤❤
Based on the comments you would think the video was about MotoGP. If there were two tests about STOL and Rossi, most would pass the Rossi test. Excellent video as always. Love this channel. Never disappoints.
I’m always surprised when people know what the 46 is 🤙🏻
VR46, legend. Doesn't hurt that Steve is also an avid motorcyclist. Both communities have a lot of similarities tbh
Beautiful aircraft
That was a good content video! Enjoyable!
STOL comp looks exciting...never been to one...someday soon...thx
Love u steveo
Cool video Hey Stevo👍👋👋
Always look forward to your vidieo's!
Very cool!
Thanks for sharing this !! Courious what made the prop surge?
Awesome!!
Cool video!
Safety first please. Great flying.
where you been Stevo, nice to finally get a new video man. been missing you man!!
46 Valentino Rossi - nice!
Hey, I've flown that plane with him haha. Warrens the man!
Great skills, watched these guys at another event, some of these guys climb near vertically which I don’t understand as all you have to do is get airborne for your distance to count, I had to back off some as I didn’t want to be too close if an engine simply “hiccuped” during these near vertical takeoffs at an unrecoverable altitude….
Still these guys have amazing skills!!!
Awesome!
New subscriber, Love the Stol comps. Not a pilot but have always loved planes since the late 50s. Yeah, I'm old as Moses.
@@Official-steveo1kinevo I am old therefore I have exsperiance, go away scammer.
Totally insane how quick they get off the ground and land, try doing that in the TBM Steveo🤣
Airplane burnouts. pretty cool!
Fantastic aeronautical decision making and not trying to push a bad situation. Possibly the prop governor? Anyway, kudos for making the correct decision even though it meant dropping out of the competition.
I was doing my BFR the other day, takeoff roll and I didn't realize my hand had slipped from the throttle to the prop, all I knew what I wasn't making correct power. I decided to abort, yanked the prop all the way back. I realized what I'd done and corrected everything in a second, I've got so much power the takeoff was still a breeze. It was a puckering moment when I thought my engine was only making about 1/3 of its normal power.
I can't help but click on a video with a mustachless Warren!
I knew something was missing 😂
@@WarrenGAviation It's a little sad, eh? ;)
Thanks Steveo, love pilot's perspective in competitive flight events. #46, Warren a Valentino Rossi Fan?
Warren is big fan of The Doctor
15:56 wow right on the line.
Thumbs up 👍 thanks 😊
Great video. Question: why would the prop control knob not be pushed in all the way? Wouldn't that achieve max acceleration for takeoff?
Steveo! Saw you at the MZeroA booth and didn't get a chance to say hi. Hope to see you next year at the 50 year anniversary of SNF!
Love watching these STOL competitions. Some really talented aviators and amazing aircraft.
Great content as usual, Steveo! Curious what a prop surge is?
There are two typed of propellers. Fixed pitch (solid and bolted to the hub) and constant speed (individual blades with a hub that maintains speed by adjusting the pitch of the blades)
Prop surge is a failure of the constant speed prop mechanism to maintain a constant speed.
@@davidrush4908 What's the cause of the prop surge? Warren explained about the spark plug on each cilinder. Could it be that one or some of the spark plugs were failing leading prop to surge?
@@chenwong1036 There are two plugs on each cylinder and two magnetos each of which supply spark to one bank of plugs. Part of the pre takeoff checklist is to check each mag by turning it off. This will give a modest drop in rpm. A prop surge is an increase in rpm caused by the hub flattening the pitch of the props.
Honestly I don't have a deep knowlege of how the constant speed prop systems work or what could cause one to surge, only that it is a problem and that his aborting the takeoff was appropriate.
With respect to his leaning of the engine this is not too unusual. During takeoff, landing, and while in the pattern you go full rich. This supplies maximum fuel to the engine and helps to cool the valves, but can produce extra carbon deposits on the plugs. To counter that while taxiing or waiting you can lean the engine causing it to burn hotter and prevent or get rid of the carbon. During the normal pre takeoff check of the mags if you get too much rpm drop then you run the engine at a higher rpm and lean it to burn any deposits off then re check.
This is more problematic for planes that are not being flown at altitudes that leaning is necessary. Training aircraft are a great example as they spend most of the time at low altitudes and in the pattern.
I mean are you talking engine fail? drive shaft fail between engine and prop? gear reduction box? ??
@@gpyle No, it was something in the constant speed propeller system, not a catastrophic part failure.
Vale !!!
The “I am a passenger song” works so well for some reason. Love that song.
VR46 Flying high !
46 must be a Valentino Rossi fan!
Interesting!
I believe that I hear a hint of one of the Commonwealth countries in Warren's speech pattern and pronunciation.
He’s from South Africa 🇿🇦
Must be a Rossi Fan. He’s a good guy 👍
Slammed that tail wheel on the deck the first attempt.😂
Always good to make the quick decision to abort a takeoff. Nicely done!
Had to turn the intro music up. 🎶 Tune stevo
Stol is so cool. Was king fishing on Kodiak AK. These float planes were landing on a creek. Lol.. bears walking around looking for fly fishermen to catch a fish so they could steal it. Bush pilots landing on a prayer.
A Rossi fan!
Nice aircraft ! Is prop surge like cavitation ? ( boat guy ) …
What a dream come true, that 46 is only a dream, wow, beautiful
Hello nice Video 🛩🛩🛩
Never seen STOL takeoffs and landings from inside the aircraft before. Wild Ride.
Excellent decision at end.
what is a prop surge, there really was never an explanation as to exactly what it is
Live to fly another day.
Was there a reason for the prop surge or possible reasons? Thanks in advacne.
