Hi Natalie, from one spinner to another, I found it so informative to knit with my first hand spun yarns. The lumpy bits didn’t matter as much as I thought, they looked lovely and a little textured. I found such joy just seeing my own yarn knitted up, it is beautiful and I found what I like. I knit a hat with all the bits so I could see how the colours play out. It bloomed when I washed it and I still wear it 5 years later! Happy spinning
You’ve inspired me to start blocking my sweaters mid-project and it’s been such a game changer! Especially now that I’ve fallen in love with the look of a sewn bind off
I knit all my sleeves cuff up and attach by knitting together/binding off with armhole stitches so far this has worked for drop shoulder and set in sleeve haven’t tried for other constructions because those are my go tos but I don’t see why you couldn’t. Exactly like you said instead of socks I have sleeves in my bag wherever I go 😊 it’s usually a super easy modification!
your salty days is absolutely stunning Natalie! I love knitting my collar together too, one of my knitting friends just taught me a technique that helps it be stretchy without going up a needle. when she binds off the stitches instead of passing one stitch over the other, she knits them together through the back loop. it’s so much stretchier! really wish I’d done it on my Salty because my bind off was a bit tight, but I did it on my latest collar and it’s so much stretchier!!
I love the logic you used for finishing this sweater. The technique you use for finishing the fold over neck was super. I like the idea of going up 3 needle sizes. The info is great, thanks 🙏 😂
Loving both of your sweater WIPs! The Salty Days sweater has been on my list to make for a while and I'm itching to cast one on! And that squishy pink cardigan is going to be perfect for you. I'm wondering if you're planning to post a video planning your advent knitting this year? I know you posted the pattern ideas video, but wondering if you'll post another on the subject this year (and I'm watching your advent planning playlist trying to decide what I'm going to make with my advent).
I'm making a beanie for myself, I'm using knit pick's Wool of the Andes worsted weight in color cloud, I just wanted a plain and simple beanie so I'm doing 1x1 ribbed brim then switching to simple stockinette in the round for the main part of the beanie
FWIW, try steaming your fiber before spinning. I just use an iron and get some steam in there. It really helps plump up the fiber and add both air and moisture. It has made drafting across wider areas easier for me.
So excited to watch your spinning journey!! I know nothing about spinning but I think you are doing amazing!!! It seems so complicated with separating the braid, working the tension on the spinner and then spinning the wool!! Congrats on your progress!! Can't wait to see how you ply it together!
I think the is the prettiest item that you have made I love the color you’ve knitted just beautifully and I love the pattern that you picked too big fan of yours
My goodness gracious you are an exceedingly busy family!! For real though. Take time to just breathe, see no one, knit, walk Toaster, do nothing. No filming, no editing, no nothing. You have been going for so long. Please take time to rest. The knitting world will still be here for you. ☺️
I thought you previously said you would be staying at your parents for an extended period but glad you are going to Florida it screams knitty natty vlogmas 🩷 hope Kent’s mum was safe during the hurricane

Great progress on your sweaters! I'm so glad you've been able to find time to relax a bit with friends.
Vlogmas is my favorite! I love seeing all of the advents :) I bought the Chelsea Yarns advent because of seeing you open theirs last year!!!
Ooh you will love it!!

Can’t wait for Vlogmas 2024 ❤
your sweater is looking amazing!! Love how many details it has.
I finished my Salty days sweater. Love it. However, mine is a bit small. It was totally my mistake. So I would like to make it again.

Thank you!! I feel like it's both complex and simple. 😅
@KnittyNatty Well that gives me hope that one day I might give spinning a try!

#question - Is it possible to purchase the Perfect Fit Sock course as a gift for someone else? How might that work? Thinking ahead to the holidays… 🎄🧶
