    Beautiful horn with brilliant design, the player also makes it sound wonderful.

    One of the best saxophone 🎷 channels on the tubes.

    That's a better looking horn than anythng Selmer has released in decades. Would have been nice if this video showed a side-by-side comparison of the DS mechanism as compared to a traditional mechanism. Great playing as always, too!

    I follow youtube since day one,listening to all sax players you can imagin and I never could find or hear a sax player with a more open tone compared to the all old and new sax player whi have a tone like a “ horn “ No ond has my tone and I spoke with Ben Wenster in Brusseks around 1969 when he lived in Amsterdam. Tonewise Jim is my twin brother and the very best sounding Sax on the internet. Great job Jim !

    I met who I believe was the owner of eastman saxophones at a clinic and I got to see some of these horns early! He also had an alto with the new mechanism! Beautiful saxophone.

    I would use both necks because of all the different settings I play in. You sound good on this. What mouthpiece and reed are you playing. Thank you for these videos. They are helpful! I know i prefer the 52nd Street, because of your comparison.

      @saxworldwide  7 месяцев назад

      The mouthpiece is my own Retro Revival Super D NY 8, plus I was actually using a Roberto's Wind 2H reed here - normally D'addario Select Jazz.

    Beautiful work of art and excellent playing. Will they do the same with their alto models? What was the name of that jazz piece in the beginning? That was so cool!

    • @saxworldwide
      @saxworldwide  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you. At the moment I'm not aware of plans for an alto, but perhaps we'll find out at the 2024 NAMM Show. The piece at the beginning - I'm not sure; it's an online backing track company that we subsribe to. We scrolled through a few options and liked the sound of this one!

      Eastman already has done the same with the Rue Saint-Georges alto (the EAS850), which was actually their first sax to use the DS mechanism. They just haven't released a 52nd Street alto with the DS yet (it would be the EAS852 if it existed). But you can get a 52nd Street alto without the DS (the EAS652).

    Thank you for the review, Jim. Its a beautiful horn and you have piqued my curiosity so I hope to play one at NAMM this year. What is the mouth piece you're playing on this review?
    Thanks again. Great Tone!

    Hi Jim! Interesting video! With great respect, I thought that the S neck sounded better than the M, and that the RSG sounded better than the 52nd. Why? Focus and center. In every professional setting I find myself in, those are more important, by far, than trying to sound like Bob Mintzer, which I can't anyway 😅! My 2 cents! Thanks

    I wish you'd gone into explaining the design of this "DS mechanism more". For one, what does DS stand for?

    • @saxworldwide
      @saxworldwide  7 месяцев назад +1

      I realised I had omitted to say 'DS = David Schipanui', i.e. the head flute designer of Haynes flutes. The key principal of this design is the change of pivot point for the frontline notes, as explained in the video. Plus the other key ergonomics mentioned.

      It's my own Retro Revival Super D NY 8, plus for this video it was the Roberto's Winds 2H, normally a Daddario Select Jazz. To me it makes more sense to use a set-up that is familiar to me, plus our viewers, allowing you to make fairer comparisons with other instruments across our channel

      They used to contract a Tawainese factory to make their saxes. They've since moved production to the factory in China, which Eastman completely owns.
