I wish I had watched this video before dropping $300 on two JLT oil separators. I bought my Lightning in Nov 2020. I'm starting to do things to it now and I'm finding half ass mods as well as I go. I would like to see a video of how you clean your engine. Mine is dirty and oily too. I don't want to mess anything up. I just added a big mouth lfp throttle body and jlt cold air intake. Man the big mouth throttle body really improved my throttle response and the supercharger winds up quick and louder. Its awesome. Keep the Lightning videos coming. Thanks!
Thanks for the input. As far as cleaning I just used brake parts cleaner. I talk about it some in my video on the turkey pan mod. I have a lot more content planned with the lightning coming!
Wouldn't venting your oil filler cap w/check ball type be equally effective. It's my experience blow by on a healthy stock motor is insignificant. Catch cans seem to fill w/condensation as opposed to contaminants
Been struggling with vacuum lines, any suggestion if I don’t have a smoke blower to test the lines? I installed new pcv valve, egr fixed, maf working well but still my rpms goes crazy on idle Great videos man, straight to the point, clear view and audio.
@@Track3r well the only codes I’m getting are the famous p0171 and p0174 there’s several videos about it but none of them with the supercharger since the egr it’s in the opposite side of the normal 5.4 and all of them it’s been fixed by changing vacuum lines. In my case I can hear a lot of wind noise between turkey pan but I’m not 100% sure
Hey everyone I really need help. So I have an 02 lightning and just put on new lower intake manifold/turkey pan gaskets. However, I don't know the torque specs for the bolts that hold them down. Can anyone please help?
So did the catch can work? I paid like 50 bucks for a jlp one that people say belongs in a air compressor and it catches oil but idk if it's working right because my cousin is using the jlt expensive one and it catches humidity and oil in droves compared to my.
The engine should burn off all the moisture that is accumulated when it’s run at operating temperature. Even then it should be minimum. The catch can definitely did work as I had a couple spoonfuls of oil between oil changes.
Adding to this topic. While researching crank case vent. I discovered the Ford SVT developed a PCV that never fully closes. If you've got a problem w/oil accumulation you might want to look at all the causes, could be as simple as a bad PCV. Honestly, have you ever replaced one.
It’s on my to-do list. But I don’t want to stare at a CEL so when I swap pulleys and tune it I’m gonna delete it and have it taken out in the tune file.
@@Track3r ah ha! I figured there was a reason. I saw you routing the hose around it on the driver's side and it sparked the question. I have a 2000 with a popped head gasket. My parts are here, I just need to find the time to turn wrenches!
Catch can works great it’s definitely holding oil but my truck doesn’t have much blow by so that’s a good thing for me. I would need to pull up the diagram again but honestly just delete the turkey pan lines it saves a lot of trouble
Furthermore it is my understanding some positive crankcase pressure is needed for proper engine operation. Your valve cover filter is bi directional. A unidirectional filler cap is available or modify the on you have w/latex cover. A glove works on the larger filler cap elements sans check valve
well too late now but before you pulley a lighting make sure the injectors are flowing good.

solid video man! audio is perfect! Looking forward to your bike week videos
Thanks man! It’s coming soon!!!

Thanks for the input! If you do a search for diy smoke machine you can make one for less than $15. Also test your maf. Are you getting any cel codes?

If the turkey pan mod has not been done then start with that. Then move on from there looking for other issues and making a diy smoke machine.
@@Track3r great, thanks bro. You’re totally right. Catch you later! Cheers
Make sure it's not going out the brake booster. Pinch off vacuum lines w/pliers close to source listen for idle improvement
can you go from both sides to the catch can? I notice the oil gums up my throttle body.....
You probably can but it shouldn’t be an issue once set how I have it
Why 2 different size fittings I’m just curious just bought the same catch can lol
It’s what hoses fit the outlet on the valve cover and the inlet on the plenum

Question: Why haven't you deleted the EGR? Do you have to comply with strict emissions in your state?

Time is a challenge in itself lol. I have some plans to make this truck a little more fun just gotta get the time to do it.
Hey quick question, what size are those hoses you bought?
Hey man I just got this same catch can how does it work for you? Also if I haven’t done the turkey pan delete yet does it T in there somewhere?
