How to easily fix a BMW automatic parcel shelf!

The parcel shelf wasn't automatically raising and lowering when the glass section of the tailgate was opened.
The original magnet on the end of the parcel shelf that connects into the pillar runners was missing. Gluing a replacement 8mm diameter, 5mm high magnet resolved the issue. The parcel shelf is once again fully functioning!

Thank you very much for the video! The edge of the bar was broken on the car I bought and I would have never thought that there would be a magnet inside! Issue solved with two small magnets (so that I had the needed depth)

Can you tell what size of the magnet did you use? Because someone is saying that used a 10x2 but the person on the video said 8x5 I think.

Hi I have a F11 I got the battery changed and the boot got stuck upwards it started working in a few seconds but the problem is the boot runners are stuck upwards so I can't use the parcel shelf. I showed it to a mechanic he checked the wires etc they were fine as well as the fuses he told me that it could be the motor or micro switch. Rest of the windows and boot works fine except for the boot runners being stuck upwards, any ideas or suggestions please

Have someone pull up diagnostics and order it to close itself. If it closes, then it's either a magnet issue or a sensor issue (which detects the magnet). If it still doesn't close then it's probably something mechanical or in rare cases the module might be glitching out.

Yes, very curious where you can get such a magnet. And what did you say the measurements were? 8mm diameter, but I can’t make out what you said the height/depth/deep of the magnet was? Thanks!
