- The cemetery was attached to the old Knowle Hospital, where 5,500 people are buried. The graves are very overgrown and some contain four interments. Patients and staff were buried here and graves are marked with various style memorials. I hope you enjoy the video, please share and hit the subscribe button.
Very interesting I have come across alot of forgotten graves here in Ireland and London on my travels.
I am sure there are loads of places like this, they just need to be discovered.
I lived at Knowle as a kid, we moved away in 1959. I knew the cemetery was there, didn't realise how many people lay there. As kids in those days we never went in there, bit worried by it I suppose. Can't believe it's been allowed to fall into such a condition. I do know that next to the cemetery was the estate rubbish dump. I imagine there would be some interesting finds to be had in there also. Good video though, thanks for the memories from 65 years ago.
Thanks for watching my video, I am pleased you enjoyed it. You wouldn't recognise Knowle now.
Supposedly many a tunnel still exists under the knowle development from the old hospital.
Thank you for showing the old cemetery.
I would love to find these tunnels, thanks for your comment.
Spooky
Yes, it's very spooky, especially at night!!!
Very interesting film. I find it very sad all these people buried with just a number and not even their name.
Indeed, it is very sad. Pleased to say that nowadays most graves are marked with a suitable memorial.
I never saw a running undertaker 😁
You have now👍. Thanks for watching.
It makes me wonder where the unclaimed bodies of those who pass away at the mental hospital here are buried. 🤔
Yes indeed!
Very interesting. I have just read about you in September FSJ magazine. Sad that the graves only have a number. Is that your dog running with you?
Thanks for watching Tracy. No, the dog belongs to Bob who does the filming. I have three Jack Russells of my own, too many to run with!!!!
