Just like firearms, this is no good if it isn't driven home in our brains by practice, soooooo..........practice. Train, train, and train some more to acquire proficiency.
You're absolutely right about proper training and practice. It's the same responsibility as owning the other potentially-deadly weapon. Where does one find training in their own local neighborhood, focused specifically on knife training? I called several martial arts studios within a thirty-mile radius of me. They weren't interested. They only wanted to sell me a never-ending "subscription" to a series of classes for belts. *Not* what I asked for. Knife training is not as ubiquitous as is firearms training. It would appear that martial arts studios need to pull their collective heads out, and work to fill that need, tap that market, and be less rigid in their thinking that they can keep doing as they've always done, and just sell the never-ending classes revenue stream. They're missing out.
I'm not going to claim to be a knife-fighting expert, but I do have almost 40 years of martial arts experience and I can tell you real fights are chaotic, with both people moving nonstop at 100mph. View any technique that says, "He does '1', then stands completely motionless while you do '1, 2, 3, 4, 5'" with an *extremely* critical eye.
Best knife defending tactic against a left handed knife attack…..a Glock. PS that gun giveaway has been going so long, Jesus Of Nazareth signed up to win it.
I'm left handed with a 3rd degree black belt in Hapkido and I can tell you, don't get in a knife fight. As my Grandmaster used to say "best defense is no be there".
Unlike firearms training, the availability of knife training is not ubiquitous. If one calls martial arts studios, as I did, you find that they're not interested in focused training for specifics. They only want to sell you a "subscription" to a never-ending series of classes to receive belts. So where, in one's local neighborhood, does one go to receive focused knife training? Just like the firearm, if you don't train and practice with that weapon, there's a possibility that an adversary will take it away from you and use it on you.
One good thing about my firearm is that it does not discriminate between a lefty and a right-handed knife wielder. I studied judo, karate, aikido, jiujitsu, yawara, and FMA, but as I age, I rely more on my little friend.
I'm by no means a knife fighter or martial artist. however first thing that you should have mentioned is the fact that you usually stand with your lead leg outside opponent's lead leg when fighting opponent in opposite stands. second first two attacks make sense. however third attack would not look like the way shown here. the person who is playing a part of a left handed fighter is actually still in orthodox stands with his left foot back and his right foot forward instead of other way around as it would be the case if fighting a left handed opponent. so basically whether you are a lefty fighting righty or righty fighting lefty. the opponents rear foot would be on the other side further away from you. and while third technique shown here would still be possible. it might not be the best option at less you have a long weapon like a sword or at least machete. (and it would be easier to do with either long machete or a sword than a knife or even shorter machete) it. at the position you showed when you are pushing your opponent's hand and turning him to me it would make more sense to stab him in the kidneys multiple times while keeping him off balance. if you don't have a weapon that can thrust only to cut I don't know what you should do. but I'm pretty sure that there are better options than what is shown here.
All that looks great in terms of being a boxed up solution where the attacker does step one, and the other guys does a defense of some sort. BUT what does it look like as full speed fight where the attacker is allowed to be fluid and actually fight? Seeing a FIGHT DUMMY is too easy as a a believable scenario.
Us lefties are superior when it comes to hand to hand combat. Not because we're stronger or smarter or faster. Simply because we're (lefties) are used to fighting right handed people while right handed people are not used to fighting us lol
All these videos are far too technical for the average person you need to take a look at your content and realize that a lot of the people watching these videos are just normal folks they're not Kung Fu Masters and on top of that people that watch these videos have a gun so like I've said before evade creates space draw your weapon life is not a Steven seagal movie where you're going to have a knife fight....smh
Yep knife are good to have but guns are better if some one comes in your house with a knife then you would have to say oh hold on i got to get my knife be fore you shoot me l0l
Thanks for these videos, in these days when the law looks like protects the attacker instead of the person who is defending itself, these videos with techniques in self defense with knives, sticks and other weapons are essential. All the best

I canceled my USCCA because I find the whole thing stupid. People do not have Jackie Chan style knife fights like this. It is entirely fiction.
Sayoc Kali assumes the attacker will also be moving. Action is usually faster than reaction

Agreed, 100%. Grand master choi say. No fight with knife, protect self. Never take eye off that knife. Run like hell..
Grandmaster Audio3 says, take out your HK VP9, and watch knife attacker run like hell.

By around the 5:10 mark, how are you out of breath already??? You haven't really done much physicality.

These concepts are gruesome 😭😭

Question: What does the law say about defending yourself if a car pulls up on you while you are driving and shoot back? (Like at a stop light)
