Very helpful, thank you! My dad used a small socket to squeeze the white pegs up behind the chrome strip. They came off without breaking!

Great video. What is the part # or link to the clips? I need to take on this project in the near future.

Our camera flickers and a bit blurry most of the time but occasionally works perfect. Any idea what is wrong?

We had the same thing happening, and eventually the camera stopped working altogether. I'm trying to figure out if it's a wiring issue rather than a bad camera, but I don't know yet.

The lens is integral to the camera, so a blurry image indicates that the camera body has allowed the lens to move relative to the imaging chip. There is no repairing of this - you can only replace the entire camera. Flickering implies a poor connection internal to the chip; again the camera must be replaced.

That was our camera until a month ago, then entirely stopped working. It would work great for a week, then funky colored image that was distorted, then stop. I tried tapping it a few times, and perhaps that helped short-term, but it's really done now.
I took the camera out today, wish I had read Carissa's comments first, so now I'm in the "need new clips boat" instead. I jiggled it around several times and plugged it back in also to see if it was wiring, and it didn't come back on, so I don't think so. As soon as I can get the camera, I'll try to come back on and report if it worked. If it does, hopefully the back of the car can remain intact from here on out. I miss that lil' thing...
There is a camera recall on newer models 2019-2020, but they skated on us. Also, mine is the FL1Z-19G490-AD, but it appears the B model is what several Ford OEM websites indicated, so Tom's link should be OK.
For those thinking about taking it on, it's not too bad of a job, did it in about 30 minutes or less. I had been dreading it for a couple years now, but the stupid camera would start working again when I got serious. (It knew).
      Here's the TLDW:
Step 1: Take out the T25 screws for the grab handle
Step 2: Carefully remove the plastic panel, and if you break the post mounts like Tom and I did, plan on using JBWeld to fix. Not sure how not to, though I only lost one.
Step 3: Carefully remove the plastic liner (it was somewhat warm in the car, so I was able to save all the adhesive by gently pulling on it, but you might need to use RTV to restick it. I only removed 3/4 of it, to get to the four screws.
Step 4: Remove the four T25 screws holding the trim piece on (from inside the body
Step 5: While you're there, use the Carissa's Dad method to squeeze/loosen the trim fasteners (yay!)
Step 6: Gently pull the trim piece out, it will hang by all the wires, so be gentle
Step 7: Use a T20 (I think) to remove the camera (I would test it before removing to see if the jostling helped, but I would just put the new one in no matter what)
Step 8: Test the camera, then reassemble
Thank you Tom!!! I clicked on the link and bought the camera, should be here Tues 10/19/21.

So the replacement camera fixed it, but now I need to replace the broken clips (I knew better, but got in a hurry) so I can button it all up.
Do not try to use other clips unless you ensure they are sealed, otherwise you will get leaks in your lift gate, and that won't be good for the motors, electronics, CAMERA, and metal.
I went to the dealer and got eight of them for a bit over $20, which I'm happy with to get this job done!
So the Ford part # is W716351-S300.
If you search Amazon, I found a pack of 25 for $15.

@@netwrench6570 your problem sounds similar to ours. We’d go from working sometimes perfect to a digital scrambled image, back to occasional perfect image. More recently it often gives a blue screen and no image with message on the stereo “no image available”, then occasionally works perfect again.
I’d love to know if it is a loose ground wire or something like that or a bad camera. I’d hate to replace the camera only to find it was not the problem.
