Currently in the process of doing this to my GTI. Following both your videos (this and the wiring vid linked in the description). These are great, very detailed instructions. Thanks! I would recommend being VERY careful when removing the little tab on the A frame that says "Airbag". Mine snapped super easily about two minutes ago 😅. Seems like something that would be cheap to replace or I might just glue it back after. But be careful!!! Edit: This has taken WAY longer than expected. Please note, this video makes it look much easier than it is haha. Getting the wires under the light fixture from the windshield, and feeding the wire through the roof takes FOREVER. But I still would have never been able to do this without great guidance in the video. If you're reading this, feel free to ask me if you're stuck on something because I probably made every mistake possible 😂. I'm sure ill see the notification and try to reply.
I'm about to do in my golf too, waiting for the dashcam to arrive, can i know what wire have you used to find your way from the light fixture to the A pillar? i can't find anything similar to buy
@@AhmedSam the cord in the package that came with the camera was long enough. I used an old wire hanger to guide it through and believe me, it took forever to get it right. He makes it look way easier than it really is. You might want to find someone to help, would have been easier with a second set of hands. I was doing it alone in the dark during a power outage which also didn't help
@@AhmedSam yes I would recommend waiting until you have a full day or two days just in case. Once you tear everything open you can't really use your car until it's done and closed back up
Brilliant video and nice and neatly installed the way I would do mine out of sight and the camera is nicely out of the way it’s similar to the Audi set up
Attention plugging one SAE cable into another inverses the cables (black becomes red and vice versa). In your case things worked fine since you plug 3 cables and you re-inverse them. Other than that great video. Thank you !

what kind of cool bat cave driveway do you have lol and where do you live looks lovely . Thanks for this video going to wire in a dash cam into my Golf this weekend . Never had one before so this vid super helpful. Cheers from Vancouver Canada !
I have the SEL package on a 2015 Jetta TDI so the Fender speaker is mounted in the a-pillar trim on the (US) driver's side. And, I cannot, for the life of me, find a tutorial covering any special concerns/processes for this.
Hi, thanks for the great informed videos, my Camera has a rear cam too (Parking Mode) so when attaching to the fuse box I'll need a constant live feed will I? I believe u said
Yes, watch my other video on installing a front & rear cam with park mode. You will need a permanent live plus an ACC or ignition circuit. ruclips.net/video/bAE4gbzCXJE/видео.html
Whoa. Quality or what. So on the driver's side there is no front-side curtain airbag there but in the passenger's side A-pillar the airbag is present inside?
Hi there great video, I’ve got mine in the cigarette fuse slot is the fuse slot you are using better and also what is the second slot in from your left used for, mine is empty cheers Kev
5:51 :( I do have a parking mode camera and a Golf MK6, fuse box is identical to mine but I have not managed to find a constant power fuse- no luck either with the fuse box under the hood.
Why did you add a ground ? Do you advise this? I have a RoadHawk DC-1 Dashcam and I want to fuse tap to my Golf Mk4 Could you advise weather I just fuse tap with a 10 and just have to direct to the dashcam? Cheers

Don't forge to disconnect your car battery prior to the installation of the dash cam. You don't want your airbag to give you a scare.
So nicely done and explained!! Thanks!

I'm only using 1 SAE connector, with the 'plug' side wired correctly. The 'socket' side (hot) must have the exposed connector as negative.

Thank you for this video. Very informative and easy to follow! Is your golf an import from Japan?
Yes
With dash cans, regardless of make /model,do they record anything said by any body with in the car eg passengers
Usually you can easily switch the mic on/off.
Good video.

The ground is your negative.
Can i use any empty fuse Spot?
No 💝
Any problems with the golf yet?
Nothing major
@@CraigsDIY Nice to know. Looks like its in really good condition
Great video do you know the size of the fuse tap that will fit having difficulty in identifying the correct one
