It's great you featured this bike Sir Zach. Some of the features are like answered wishes for the big scooter category. 1. 15-inch wheels with wide tires (120 F & 160 R) - this set is amazing on highway cruising runs and they can lean really good. 2. A longer wheelbase (visually comparing) than the XMax, TMax, Xciting 400, etc. 3. The storage capacity is big enough, no need for aero-dragging boxes (upsets CG). 4. 50+ HP, stable weight, modes (I believe ride mode...suspension biasing?), ABS (but I believe your 30 rating on the rear, needs more bite I guess or a better sense of "urgency" on the brake feel) 5. The cons that you mentioned are no big deal (at least for me) but yeah, scrutiny on this bike can be challenging But the price though...I will agree to pay that amount if the AK550 will have traction control, cornering ABS, and maybe, just maybe, fully adjustable suspension. Oh wait, I will replace the keyless with good old "insert key", replace the toggle wheel with good old "switches or latches", and remove the Noodoe tech. Make them optional, that'll save money which can go to performance parts instead. Thanks again Sir Zach. Stay safe.

Zach a great review. I would like to add something about the braking that I hope will clear a point up. The right hand lever is just not the front but a combination of the front and rear combined with the added benefit of the front brake calipers being Brembo's with 4 pistons, definitely a lot of stopping power not seen on any other maxi-scooter. The left hand lever is really a trailing brake more for use when traveling slowly forward or going into turns so it's not as you could say a solely full power rear brake the full power of the rear brake is in the right hand lever which as I stated is the combination of both front and rear brake. So when stopping you should really apply the right hand lever then gently the left. My apologies as I don't want to sound like a smart ass I just feel it's important to know exactly what's is involved in the bikes braking after all, as we know there is nothing more important than being able to stop correctly. Great review though.
Propper REVIEW 👍 just what I wanted to watch and hear. I wish that norway could have this model😭 but the maxi scooter scene its not so popular in norway yet. If I get the chance I would trade my piaggio bv 350 and get the 550 ak. Thanks for good quality review👌👍

This is my dream bike. I prefer comfort over speed which Kymco really shows it here. Malaking storage box, Malaking fuel tank, comfort over long rides, etc... Its all here! Now if only I had 599,000 pesos. :(
Just bought one bcoz of the great discounts, i follow ur videos from time to time. I have to argue your point on the dash being not hi end enough? In all the segments of maxi scoots (correct me if im wrong) this is the only maxi with linkable dash to your phone. Not even the new tmax has that and more expensive bikes like the xadv as well. Anyway correct me if im wrong, good video and makes me as a new owner happy to watch

Well, you should do an update sometime about the new model 2022. There are some interesting upgrades to it, my worst is the horsepower decrease due to EURO-5 (I think), all the rest is amazing, like the drive-by-wire, the cruise control etc.

Great review, this one. Is there any chance to use an external GPS device? (like tomtom or garmin) on this bike? I've watched some other reviews and by and large people say the Kymco's app isn't the best in the world.... Safe trips!
