  • Seth Postell's sermon titled "To the Jew First" from February 4th, 2018.
Freedom Bible Church is a nondenominational church that has been ministering in Charlotte County (Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, North Port, Englewood) since 1991 with Frank Vargo as senior pastor. At Freedom Bible Church, we desire to be a God-centered not a man-centered church. Our prayer is that you’ll discover God’s grace and love through the weekly preaching, as we go verse by verse through the Bible.
We would love to invite you to join us on Sunday mornings as our guest and enjoy the service. We have designed our Worship Service with you in mind. We have made special effort to create a no pressure environment, so that you can experience the difference of Freedom Bible Church (FBC). We will not single you out or call attention to you...we’re just glad you are here!
At Freedom Bible Church, we want you to dress comfortably. When we look at Scripture, we see an emphasis on people, not on their clothing(James 2:1-9). We desire this same emphasis at FBC. If you prefer casual dress, then please come casual. If you prefer to wear a suit, then please do so. At FBC, it’s truly “come as you are!” There are no expectations in regards to dress.

I love learning from pastor Seth. I love listening to testimonies and the teachings of Messianic Jews because as a gentile Christian I have always wondered why we don’t study the Old Testament was much as the New one. the Messianic Jews are the best preachers at making the connections between the Old and New Testament. . It also bothers me that Christians from many years ago did not adopt any of the Jewish traditions , so I am here to learn from
The Messianic Jews about that as well. Thank you so much.

Jesus the saviour of all nations? Did not Jesus proclaim that he had come only to save the lost sheep of Israel?

@@edwardlongfellow5819 He did essentially say this, but in that same passage the gentile he speaks too, shows him that she has so much faith in him, that she recognises his divinity so surely, that it surprises Jesus (as like how the man in the video says it used to be weird if a gentile believed in Jesus) and he gives her the healing that she requests. This doesn't however change the fact that yes, Jesus calls this Canaanite woman a dog, that he is the Master, the Jews are his children, and the gentiles are the dog. Even as a pure analogy, it is heavy handed to say the least.
However, like the man in the video mentions, this is where the idea that the Jews have ultimately rejected Christ and have massively sinned comes from, the idea that Jews are the ones who have had the privilege of receiving Gods word directly first and foremost, and so have the most responsibility for rejection and ignorance. Although the man in the video believes it is the wrong interpretation, the Bible itself affirms that any who continue with the Old Covenant are basically just "failed Christians", hence the infamous medieval depictions of Jews and Judaism as this failure was seen more as an insulting affront and blasphemous rejection God all together, and why the idea is basically the modern universally understood concept, that a Jew is a "failed Christian", that it is what the Christians were before Jesus came.
As I said the Bible affirms this, in Revelations, it affirms this as it also arguably recognises that the Hebrews do bare the most responsibility for their actions, as they are essentially given a second chance at salvation, even after everything, Christ will accept them as Christians, if they accept him. On a detailed reading of the Book of Revelations, there are competing ideas as to who and what is actually prophesised as being the outcome of this last opportunity of salvation extended by Christ, some think it will go well, some think it will go badly.
Personally, I don't know where the whole "Messianic Jew" things sits with the Bible.

I’m not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the gentile.
Romans 1... I wanna say 16...but I’d have to double check.

Thank you very good topic, all of creations must bow down to him Jesus christ, God chose him as the king of kings, and God chose him to be the sacrifice for the whole world sins, God chose him to be the beginning of all creations, and God chose him to be the end of all creations, God chose Jesus christ to be the word of God, Jesus christ said nothing that he came to do was not of his own originally, but it belongs to him God that sent him forth, he is all things of God the creator,

Beautiful delivery of one of the most misinterpreted verses in the New Testament.
Anti-Semitism in the -*subtle* ways we treat others as “less than” is something we need to discuss more often and in detail, especially in the Christian community.

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
    Galatians 3: 27-29
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
    Romans 2: 28-29

Israel didn’t blow it until the end of Acts (and if they hadn’t blown it, Jesus would have returned with their kingdom, right? Matt 16:28, 1 Thessalonians 4:17, Matt 10:23. Jesus didn’t come back, did he?). So the thing about “to the Jew first and also to the Greek (who were a special kind of Gentiles blessed under the covenants of promise added to Israel’s promises by prophecy - Deuteronomy 32:21 to provoke the Jews to jealousy (Romans 11) so that some Jews might seek salvation through Christ! There are no Jews and no “Greeks” in the eyes of God today because that whole thing came down like a house of cards when Acts came to a close! No more acts required; God decided he was done with them! There is a new gospel that is available to everyone in the entire world ever since Paul got the memo that pagans (the opposite kind of Gentiles than Greeks) can receive eternal life by simply accepting the free gift of Ephesians 2:8&9! After receiving the revelation of the mystery hid in God since before the world began and making a record of it in his letters to the Ephesians and Colossians, the biblical Jews died off and no longer exist as anyone living today. God allowed the Romans in 70 AD to utterly destroy all of the stuff he had given Israel when they had had a relationship. I think that message came through loud and clear! Jews became pagan Gentiles at that point and invited to accept the free gift that has no strings or favoritism attached (Eph 2:8&9 KJV).
Israel’s relationship with God is over but in no wise will God reject anyone anywhere anytime who puts their faith completely in his Son, Jesus Christ. The entirety of Israel’s promises and prophecy has been canceled and our only terms of salvation are a few verses in Ephesians (where we are called “the faithful in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 1:1 KJV)
