In general, I really do like this. For the most part, it is sorta-kinda "plug & play" (as Reef's claims)...but, not entirely. As you are doing, not a lot of people will really want to run a separate battery to power the BEC. They'll want to power out from the same battery powering the ESC. Plus, even if a person is willing to power it from it's own battery, they have to purchase batteries with a specific connector, which also means needing to purchase another charging lead. Personally, I prefer having the BEC hardwired to the connector that also powers the ESC. One thing that keeps me leaning towards the Castle BECs is that the are programmable...this one isn't.
Yeah I modded this one to fit my builds, but the thing is this has the bypass built in so no red wire removal or any of that. As time moves on more and more components are good for 8.4v or higher. If you have a TRX4 with all those servos this is the perfect solution. with a HV receiver like most are in current times a simple Castle can get it done just remove the red esc wire.
@@ExocagedRC True...or, get one of the Holmes Hobbies Bypass Harnesses. He makes a single servo version, as well as a dual servo version. bec = battery eliminator circuit escs have an internal bec to power the servos and receiver but to power a strong servo you might need more amps than the esc bec can provide, so you can use a separate bec like this one
If all the grounds are common (all tied together) there should not be any problems , as long as the hots are not common, high voltage for servo and low for receiver.
Nice! Do they make different voltages? I am slowly going through a build where I have opposite problem: I will have 7.4 volts from esc to servos and receiver, but I want another circuit with 6 volts for sound, lights and such.
Joe, on the FP you are using did you change plugs on the EZ Bec just to avoid using Reefs XT60 harness? Did you have to change anything on the FP receiver plug? I have a FP and would like my Smart 900 to run at 8.4v instead of FP built in 7.4v limit.
I did this so its plug and play for me and my setups, the easy plug and play with the reefs adapter keeps it simple and avoids many mistakes. I want to use this on a few more trucks where I have the Castle 10a bec so it makes sense to me.
I was today years old knowing rc cars servo can powered different battery separate from main batt. can you tell more about the run time? pros and cons? whats the sign when the battery need to recharge etc…
I live direct power servos. I like this as it has the bypass built in and as far as adjustments I just set them all to this unless there is a special reason not to.
Currently does not work with rear steering. You would need to run two bec. Reef is currently working on one for both. That’s what reef told me today in an email.
I like that it doesn’t have wires like my castle 2.0 the wires makes a mess lol
Now thats the kind of simple i can understand! ❤ i needed that for years🙏
Haha! Tiny coffin, that's hilarious.
I totally see a tiny coffin ⚰️ as well
LOL its supposed to be the same shape as the Reefs Logo
@@ExocagedRC gotta prop a BEC up in the passenger seat of a rig and use a skeleton as a driver
I just put the raw 500 black edition servo in my FCX 10 Chevy blazer now just waiting on the BEC
Website says water resistant but lord knows im going full submarine lol
😂😂❤
I saw that too, I'm pretty sure it can get in there deep, water isn't my thing though
Yeah, I got one on the way
👍😁😎✌️ nice setup!
I’d buy this but I already have a 8.4 micro Bec from NSDRC, and the form factor is hella tiny. It works perfectly with 1/10 servos.

Plus the CC is half the price as well. Maybe not as clean out of the box look but a little extra wire management and they can be nice and tidy.

I can’t believe how responsive it makes the servo
What’s a bec?
Asking the same
bec = battery eliminator circuit

Ubec is what they are. Bec is the one in the esc to be 💯 correct.

Yep it’s the grounds that are often overlooked and this makes it easy.

Castle creations BEC is programmable with a castle link. 4.8 to 9 volts I believe. Half the price this one is just not as clean looking.
@@troycutsforth9234 Nice, thank you! Programmability is a cool extra feature!
This one is preset at 8.4v which is fine for the vast majority of servos, but it you want to push it, the castle can go higher.
@@ExocagedRC thanks! I actually need lower. Most lights I see are nominally 6v
Nice 👍🏾💯
So I could use a 3 or 4s 5k mah battery to power just my servo through the receiver and take my esc bec back to stock settings?

For the cost of the BEC I would just go with a direct powered servo, $50.00 is a lot on top of the cost of the servo.
I love direct powered servos, but they aren’t practical everywhere.
I was today years old knowing rc cars servo can powered different battery separate from main batt.
can you tell more about the run time?

whats the sign when the battery need to recharge etc…
and yeah for the mother of earth I wish that fusion pro have at least 8 Amps internal BEC.
Do some mud bashing
Bathing in mud fast style
Mud isn't my thing, cleanup ruins it for me
@ExocagedRC ha i dont clean them but if they waterproof ey. Its fun thoo
👍👍😃
at half the price this would be perfect.
Why? This is basically bombproof and simple, nice case and solid
Can I use this on an scx6? If not which do you recommend? Thanks
On any SCX6 I highly recommend a direct powered servo, otherwise yeah I'd put this on an scx6 with stock or similar servo.
Saaaawwwwwweeeeetttttt!!!😮😊🎉
Why not just use a direct power servo? But otherwise I guess this is neat and a bit cleaner than castles version, yet not programmable so tradeoffs.
I live direct power servos. I like this as it has the bypass built in and as far as adjustments I just set them all to this unless there is a special reason not to.
Will it work with rear steer
Yeah

It looks like a coffin ...should tell you a lot 🙄😆 Tipical reefs...46 $ for a 15$ gadget.
