I'm digitizing all my old negatives and slides using my Olympus EM1 Mk II over a light table. The 60mm macro is the lens I'm using and it's perfect for this big job.
Totally agree a manual focus clutch would be great. As for the lens dimensions it is a great advantage of M43 to have small and light lenses. I really appreciate that on this lens. And btw I love the sliding hood. Very handy.
Hoi Bart-Jan, ik heb mij net geabonneerd op jouw kanaal! Ik ben een Leica user maar Olympus waar ik mee gestart ben blijft ook altijd interessant en in mijn hart ‼️
A bit quirky in use, but a very lovable lens. Extremely sharp, and always produces gorgeous images in general photography as well as macro distances. My only complaint is the AF shows its age, and it is not as perfect as newer designs. It can get confused in lower contrast situations compared to newer lenses. As a user would I recommend this lens? Heck yeah. Useful and lovable.
This lens came in a used bundled kit that I just got from an online seller. I believe my copy may be faulty. So far any close focusing seems to work just fine, but if I focus on anything past around 25 meters, the resulting image is extremely soft and distorted. And yes I did make sure that the switch is where it needs to be, and I've also tried with manual focusing to the same result. Has anybody else had these issues with this lens?
I wonder how it compares to the 7artisan version with manual focu only? The only thing holding me back is the 7artisan is like 5xs the weight at 550 grams. I can get this oly lens used “excellent “ from keh for about $287 usd. I need a macro to complete my m43 set
I don't know how useful this is as an anecdote. But I've seen several 7artisan lenses come up on my local marketplace, but I never see the zuiko 60mm. I am suspect of any specialist gear that has high turnover second hand.
Strange that Tokina has had the Focus Clutch for many years, and nobody ever bragged about it. I’ve always liked it myself, I have several Tokina lenses for my Nikon bodies.
I just got this lens (oly 60 2.8 macro) and Im not sure how to get maximum closeup ratio. I. Have the e-p7. The 1/1 dial on the lens won't stay it will go back, it seems to do nothing.. can somone explain how to get best results for small flowers and insects with this lens? It seems i have to be like 10 cm from the Insect, I'm. New to macro I think it is too close for them no? Also for me Im stressed and don't like bugs haha. I have the Canon R and I wonder if a ff macro lens will be better from a longer distance than this m43 setup?
Haha if you don’t like bugs maybe a telephoto would have been better? ;). Anyway, the 1/1 dial doesn’t stay in place, it works as a ‘reset to 1/1’ to quickly get the maximum close up ratio. Minimum focus distance is 19cm (7.4-inch) so that’s where you need to be at then. You can also be a bit further ofcourse, sometimes it’s easier that way and you can always crop in a little afterwards. As for the FF alternative: I also photograph with FF Canon next to M43 and I have owned the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM. It’s a very nice lens and you might indeed be able to get away with a longer distance as you can more easily crop into your 45MP files. However, in comparison, the 60mm Olympus offers 120mm focal range compared to Canon’s 100mm, and I would say it beats the Canon lens in pretty much every other spec. It’s smaller, lighter, faster, cheaper; etc. The only reason I could imagine wanting to go with a macro on your R5 vs one on your E-p7 is about the camera, and not the lens. It might be easier to use the R5 with it’s viewfinder, stacking options etc. Otherwise though, if I was to get into macro, I’d go with the Olympus 60mm 100%.
@@bartjanverhoef I just found out the ep7 has only 8 pictures focus bracketing mode. There is no focus bracketing with more then that with raw files. Also the exposure bracketing for hdr use is also limited to 0.7 stops with max 5 exposures. Very limited! I'm Considering returning it for a refund and get a om-1 or The old pen f which has better build, evf and hi res mode. Only afraid about the focus with the old pen f.
Hi, I have one question about the focus dial if anybody knows the answer. We can switch the focus distance on any of the setting except the 1:1. Is there any reason or what is the particular use of that setting ? I picked up that lens in order to explorer macro photography too and I have the feeling I am missing something there.
This is normal, AF is not fixed when translated to 1: 1, the lens unit rises to the extreme position of the 1: 1 scale, and then you can focus by tilting the body, or switch to the MF and turn it manually.
It is a very good macro lens. and I used to wish to have it. But after thinking back, I was more focused on birds photography and in the end I didn't buy it.😅
Mostly on an E-M5 mark iii and also on an E-M1 mark iii (I love how compact the setup is with the E-M5 iii but pairing it with the E-M1 iii has some advantages like better stacking etc).
Just got this lens a while back. Now that summer is here, I am having a blast. Thanks!

Very good video, thank you.
I would recommend to turn the music down 10 db. The music is crazy loud so I turn it down and then I can't hear you.

@polanialmoni6274 might better to go with an om-1 indeed, or even the E-M1 mark iii, still a great camera and super combo eith the 60mm.

Helemaal eens met je. Geweldige lens en ik be ook geen macro shooter.
Zou u de lens adviseren voor mijn Nikon full-frame Z8 (mits aanpassingsring M4/3 naar Z-packing) voor macrofotografie?

As one of the sharpest lenses Olympus has made, this is great lenses for general photography, not just macro.
What camera did you test it with ?

Lens is too small? Lol, I can guess where this is coming from...(that's the whole point of m4/3).
