Jeff talks about how special the pickups are, but honestly Jeff would sound great playing any pickups, and most people's ear wouldn't hear much difference.
Kieth Merrow has, in pretty much one year, gotten Mark Holcomb, Jeff Loomis and (soon) Tosin Abasi to ditch their old pickups to be SD artists. Give that man a Goddamn promotion!
I own a schecter jl-7 2014 model that can with emg 56-7 in the bridge and a 66-7 in the neck. Would I be able to just change the pick ups strait out for Jeffs new pick ups or would I need to change the pots and in out jack?
I feel like these are just EMG 57/66's in a Seymour Duncan casing with Jeffs name attached to them. They are built exactly the same...identical, and they sound exactly the same. Everyone knows that Jeff was a huge 57/66 guy and played them for a long time. I imagine he wouldn't stray too far from that tone.
That's a compliment to them if that's your comparison. I would but them if they sound like the EMG set you ate talking about,, then again , I could just get the EMGs
@@Remmy0930 I am contemplating putting Fishman fluence in my 7 string ibanez J custom. But I really want a modern bridge/classic neck setup. I emailed Fishman about this and I'm waiting for a reply. (Been a day) I love the EMGs I have ,, but I wanna try the fluence.
I definitely prefer them to EMGs because they don't sound so boxy and sterile. I'm not a big active player, prefer passives, but I've loved all the Blackouts I've tried.
Jeff, you are one of my inspirations, man, but it is kind of strange hearing some recicled riffs and leads of yours. Dont get me wrong, I love it, but it is strange to hear at first.
You might want to sample the pick-ups with more than one playing style. I'm not sure if it's good for what I want to do. Every pick-up review or showcase is all metal music. Can anyone play anything else?
I saw a video on here where a guy plays Van Halen. So it sounds killer for that kind of stuff too. I think this is a pretty versatile pup where you can play with your vol and tone knobs and get a range.
What did you expect clicking on a jeff video dum dum? Go look at.slash signature or wric Johnson signature pickups. Damn your iq must be low to come to a metal pick up commercial and complain about it being a metal.pickup
Razerael Enetho Agreed. Everyone knows how much Jeff loved the 57/66 set and how he played them for a long time. He was definetly going for that tone when making these pickups. They sound exactly the same. I own the 57/66 set and I have heard Jeff's set.
MrWgamer They are BUILT the same. Not just the looks. Same magnets, same pole peices, same everything. And Jeff was a diehard 57/66 guy...he wasnt going to stray too far from that kind of tone.
@@Remmy0930 I have a 66 neck/85 bridge on one of my 7 string ibanez. I have never played ths 57, I am thinking about getting a 57B/60N just cause I don't need another 66. But the 66 sounds really incredible for PAF vintage tones and leads. I use the 85 for chuggin. I think it rips on the 81.
I have a question, I am wanting to build a custom blackout. What I'm wanting to do is take the ahb-2b and put and alnico 8 magnet instead of an alnico 5, and I'm just wondering what the alnico 8 will do to the tone and eq of the pickup compared to the alnico 5 or ceramic?? And would it give the pickup more output than it already has?
The tone he gets with those pickups and that guitar is absolutely perfect.
Terrific player!
I especially like that clean tone. Amazing!
Jeff talks about how special the pickups are, but honestly Jeff would sound great playing any pickups, and most people's ear wouldn't hear much difference.
It's also how he dials in an amp, but I think the most important thing about personalized pickups is how they feel and sound to the player.
HOLY FUCK that whole section from 2:52 onwards was insanely badass. The clean section just before it too
Best pickups ever produced
Something holds rhythm here!
Is he hitting two strings at 1:02 ?? If so whats that called?
Sounds like pivoting licks across 2 strings.
what song is he playin at 2:33 the clean part
Deconstruction - Nevermore
the end was just epic:))
Song at the end is War Eternal by Arch Enemy. You're welcome.
2:24 how is he getting that sound? A boss acoustic simulator?
Just sounds like a clean channel and a chorus buddy
@@Ultrachris2ksounds acoustic too shows how good these pickups are

Tosin went with fishman and Keith left for fishman too :/
Seymour Ducan, humble suggestion, please provide us the DI of your pickups :)

hope they're in there writing for the new conquering album.

+HulktastickFTW It should be a direct replacement, so you don't have to rip everything out!
+Seymour Duncan awesome I will more then likely replace ass as I can. Would the same be said for my Jackson rrtmg?
+HulktastickFTW That uses EMGs too, so yes, it should be a direct replacement.
+HulktastickFTW I think you should check if there is a difference. Meaby that's not worth changing pickups.
+Piotrek Lesiński well I'll see how it goes there are a few different pick ups I want to try.

demo of the 7 string model?
Can someone tell me the names of the songs he's playing?

Awesome! :D
What is the string spacing of these pickups ? Would they work on a tune-o-matic guitar ? Because it seems that Floyd Rose spacing is a bit wider.
MrWgamer thank you for your answer :)
Why people left their endorser for SD nowadays. I wonder what's the phenomena behind every move.

Looks like an EMG 57/66 clone to be honest. Basic idea is the same. Magnets are the same, poles are the same. Would be nice to hear comparison anyway.
+Razerael Enetho There's a big difference between the neck pickups. The bridge pickups are pretty much the same except the SD has more pick attack.
