If I had to predict who will have the most productive season between: J.Verlander M.Scherzer C.Morton M.Lorenzen A.Cobb ... I think I'd lean towards Matthew Boyd. 😲
I liked Charlie Morton for that 5th spot knowing he's had a track record of being able to eat up innings. I'm not sure if Walker Buehler would've considered the Tigers for $22.5M, but I think his potential ceiling would've warranted the risk. But maybe a Casey Mize, Brant Hurter, Ty Madden, or Tyler Mattison eventually emerge into a solid rotational arm... OR who knows... Roki Sasaki ??
well done as always! My thoughts on the Bregman signing- The ball is in the Tigers Court. Most 3B suitors are gone. Bregman likes the Red Sox, but unless the Red Sox Move Casas, it doesn't make Sense. They have Devers at 3B, Casas at 1B, and Campbell coming up at 2B who they do not want to block. Cant move Campbell to the OF currently because of Duran, Anthony, Abreu, Yoshida etc. logjams everywhere. My assumption, based on no information, is that Bregman doesn't want to go to Toronto and get stranded there when Vlad and Bo inevitably leave. Lastly, you then have the Tigers who have the need, but they know at this exact moment dont have to outbid themselves. So this could linger until Spring Training where Boras will hope that some suitors shake out or a surprise teams gets itchy aka Mets.
Wenceel Perez started as an infielder in the Tigers system. What were his defensive metrics at 3rd base? What if his offensive numbers continue to progress into 2025, why couldn't he become the everyday 3rd baseman? That would leave Matt Vierling, Justyn-Henry Malloy, Kerry Carpenter in right field.
do you think Torkenson is going to be better in 2025 vs 2024 I also think that tigers need to get a third basemen they would be able to fill the holes for infield.
I've scrolled through these as well as past comments, yet I don't get a sense of any "obsession over JV" or even Max Scherzer... I don't know who you're directing this toward.
@Adrian-zw6sc Not directed at anyone specific. It's a general consensus. If you get on tigers FB groups/reddit you have tons of people living in the past who still think JV is a top pitcher. These same people also want Castellanos back lol
Good Stuff! Thanks guys.

I thought the exact same things when I saw Lorenzen signed for 1 yr $7M. Why didn't the Tigers sign him? And who is his agent?

3 reasons why Cobb got a better deal than JV
1. Lower MI state taxes
2. Extremely lower cost of living in MI
3. Cobb gets Chris Fetter!!!

I definitely don't understand theTigers not signing Lorenzen
Agree strongly. Must be more to the story, I hope.
I think Casey’s biggest problem is his sequencing, he has good stuff, I just feel like he’s predictable
I would rather have Verlander than Cobb tbh… Cobb I fear will be another Kenta put our analytics department believes in him
People need to get over their obsessions with Justin Verlander. Dudes 42!

Noooo!
we don't need verlander wisdom. we have hinge for that. verlander is done. it's over.
Cobb is overpaid big time. Lorenzen would have been way better for half
Trade Casey Mize for Nolan Arenado if he wants to come. Make the Cards take most of his contract.
