As a decorator myself, you did great. This profession is no joke!!! I’m sorry you had to go through that. I strongly advise my clients that they have to have their venue in checked before I even take the event. Nothing personal just business 🤷🏾♀️

You did a great job, the decorations looked amazing!!! It probably would have been a good idea for the client to hire her own event coordinator to help pull the everything together. Even if she didn't need the person for the entire event, she could have booked them just for the setup. A lot of people don't think coordinators are a necessary expense, but this situation proved why they're role is very important.
That is such a great idea! 👏🏽 For this event, I played the role of event designer and coordinator, which was a lot (almost too much). In the future, I will bring a coordinator with me on the day-of. That needs to be factored into the budget.

Beautiful work!… shimmer walls can be difficult in daylight, I have taken a photo drop screen (thick non-woven material)and clipped it up behind the shimmer wall, creating a full non see through look!… also before I take on any project I do an initial consultation at the said venue and video record top to bottom-side to side - wall to wall - floor to floor- floor to door and door to door, that way I’m able to reference anything as I’m doing a floor plan😊

It was beautiful. It’s tough when venue staff is not helpful. For shimmer walls and hedge walls, I always use draping or a tarp behind.

I also love using 260’s but I tie my from the neck & im a beginner. It’s harder but I’m happy Ik how . I haven’t tried fishing line but I’m clumsy I would pop all my balloons. 😂

You did a beautiful job despite all the setbacks. I hope your client recouped some of her money from the furniture rental company and the hotel. You.shoild definitely make the hotel's name public so that no one else will go through this in the future. Bad business is bad business!
Oh I'm so sorry you had all those issues. That was awful that the tables and chairs came so late. My first Big Event is next weekend , I am expecting things to go wrong, but I hope my Balloon backdrops looks a little like yours, LOL and I did check all my outlets, I'm good with that, Thanks

No, I didn’t place the desserts this time. The baker was paid to do that. I just provided the dessert stands.

For shimmer wall just a tip: just cover the back with white or black which suits your shimmer wall colour. Same like the green wall then you can put it anywhere.
I did cover the back with a curtain. You can still see through it.

This video was inspiring thank you. It sounds like this hotel is looking for ways to make more money by renting out the space but wasn’t thoroughly thought out by the company. Since your client did not have a day of coordinator would it be considered “unprofessional” to reach out to the venues yourself when decorating for events?(After the contract is secured by the client of course).
You did an amazing job! Question, Are you an event planner or just event decorator? As a decorator are they responsible for making sure the other vendors/ entertainment has plugs and what they need?
That is a great question! As an event designer, I feel like I take on some of the role of an event planner now. I’m talk about that in one of my videos.

And I sure do hope the venue provided your client a discount or refund since that loading doc was inoperable... a hotel that doesn't at least provide tables and some type of chairs for an event???? UNHEARD OF!

I hope my client got some sort of refund. Either way, we will never recommend that venue to anyone else.

Would a champagne colored sheet or some type of light colored cover work if you need to set up near a window?
I used gold drapes behind it and it only helped a little. The place was alllllllllll windows.
