I've been using photoshop for 20 years now and this guy's stuff blows me away. Makes me feel like when I first started playing with the program lol. It's always cool to add techniques to the belt. Dope content man.
I used a part of the subject's skin to recreate the pattern and then did this. Makes it easier to work with in harder lighting conditions but this is actually a pretty good way to do it👍👍👍
such a great person you're , the way you explain every step is very comfrotable ! i have no words to express my appreciation to you Whatever the length of the video you make it faster by the way of teaching ! thank u for your efforts JESUS
I wonder if instead of Liquify you could use your very image of the model as a Displacement Map in order to distort the skin texture to the actual contour of the face? 🤷🏻♂️ I might have to try it just to see.
That could work. But the displacement map requires too much trial and error to get the right intensity. Also, in some cases, you might have to spend time blurring and smoothing the displacement map to make sure the distortions are smooth. For those reasons, in a situation like this, it was easier to do the liquify filter.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel You are correct but you only need to do all that experimenting once. I mean, once you know the average amount of blur needed for the map image and the values for your displacement to look good, you can subsequently stay within those parameters for future images and have a pretty good chance of success. Right?
Lots of Love and Respect from Afghanistan. Thanks for this amazing tutorial. I learn a lot from your tutorials. Thanks once again and please pray for our country to get rid of barbarian talibans.
Curios that you use liquify over a displacement map. Is that because you get more control with liquify than the displacement or is there something else at play that I'm missing?
It's the details that set your videos apart Jesus. You always manage to take it that bit further, and make it look that bit more real, than anyone else.
Nice Video About the Transperency, personal taste: I dont know if it was because of RUclips's downscaling, but I thought 100% opacity looked way better than 35-50%; at 50% you barely even saw any difference to before the edit
Thank you so much Jesus for the helpful and informative tutorial! The patterns you've provided for download can be used in commercial projects as well? Good luck!
Question, why wouldn't you use a select color range for the skin tones to make a mask for the texture instead of paint it in. This would remove the texture from the hair, eyes and lips and the background. Then if you wanted to lessen the effect, use the brush on a light opacity to paint away the texture in certain areas of the skin.
A few reasons. The Color Range could select the skin. But often times it requires a lot more steps and time to get a good selection. Even with the Skin Tone option enabled it may select areas similar that are not part of the skin. Again spending more time tinkering to get it right. Assuming you can quickly get a good selection with Color Range, oftentimes, I don't want the texture over the entire skin. Only over small areas that need it. I would spend way more time removing texture than simply adding it to the needed areas. And third, the effect looks best when it's subtle. By adding the effect rather than subtracting it, you're more likely to keep it subtle. But feel free to use Color Range if that is what you prefer. Nothing wrong with doing it that way.
HI recently I have trouble for AI to make unnatural cleanest skin. I consider that this video would be one solution and how about do you update the video????

Interesting but I think this is only working on wax skin photos. What about unclean skins ? For my part, frequency separation instead is the way.

Question, why wouldn't you use a select color range for the skin tones to make a mask for the texture instead of paint it in. Great idea, Jesus! Does it work if I work with 16-bit images?
Yes! The only thing is you have to create the texture in an 8-bit image. But the resulting pattern could be applied to anything.

Why not use the displacement filter to get skin texture to conform to face?
The displacement map could work. But it could require a lot of trial and error for something like this. I prefer to do it manually with Liquify.
