Would love to see individual scores for the several elements you judge games on i.e story/mechanics Also this might just be me being an idiot but it took a videos to realise the opinion score and the final score were like your subjective then critical opinion? I know it says subjective in the timestamps but if you’re just watching the vid in full it can be a bit confusing for why you gave the game two different scores. Either way love the vids keep it up!
Thanks neo! And yeah, gimmick of my reviews is that I judge each category against a set list of criteria, and those add together to create the final objective score. Meanwhile, the final section is just my straight up opinion, so I'll talk about stuff that isn't exactly quantifiable like whether or not I had fun. Also tbf, it says "Opinion Score" on screen when the subjective score is presented too. Lol I apologize if it was confusing. I know no one else really does reviews the same way I've done, but I'm also not entirely sure how to make it less confusing. Maybe make the actual ranking and endscreen another chapter? Idk, I'll mull it over.
Correct, people that did their digging or followed the game closely knew there would be a huge patch coming on launch day. That means that the product you payed for, day 1download or any disc, was missing 37GB of data that had to be patched in. Salvaging an unfinished product, even immediately, does not change the principle that Sony/Insomniac sold players a single player game that was nonfunctional without the internet; through what is effectively day 1 DLC. If possible, I do my best to judge games based on their launch status. Most games get better with time, even if only in a polish sense, by virtue of games being pieces of software that are iterative. Judging a game after the devs have had time to fix their mistakes gives an unfair scoring advantage to games that have bigger teams, bigger budgets, and have been out longer. For example, I will never review Cyberpunk 2077 or No Man's Sky because those games are not at all similar to how they launched; even if the games have gotten exclusively better with time. Despite potentially evolving into 10/10 games over a year of additional development time, it doesn't change the fact that they released as borderline shovelware. If a game does not launch in a finished state, it will fail to meet my stability criteria, and it is scored as such, even if they patch on day 1.
