My son had some lyrics from this song in a post on FB to honor his brother and try to heal. It is a beautiful song, to paraphrase a famous poem that states grief is not something you get over but endure. Songs like this make you sad but in some strange way makes me feel the love my son had for life, a life cut too short. His brother honored him well.

I lost my father to lung cancer just before christmas. Some weeks passed by and this song came up out of nowhere. Ive never heard it before. "I never said thank you for that". I never got to thank my father for what he has done to me. And it really rips my soul apart. When these lyrics hit my eardrum i feel so numb and empty. Its a beaututiful song and it hits me in a beautiful way but at the same time it hurts me so deeply.

Grew up with my dad playing this song to me almost every day, this is my childhood song. 19 years later and my dad is in prison and i still listen to this song every day and think of him. I will go my entire life without my father and this song is the only thing that helps me understand that fact.
