車站主要的功能為負責列車的待避或交會
並無提供售票與旅客上下車之客運服務

由於恆春半島地區落山風強勁
本站還需負責監測枋野二號橋路段風速
當風速超過安全標準時，通知列車減速通過或是停車待命
本站是南迴線中最高的一站，為海拔137公尺
Located in Shizi Township, Pingtung County, between Fangshan Station and Central Signal Station
It is a railway station on the Southern Circuit of the Taiwan Railway Administration. It is currently a third-class station.
There is a gravel road along the road, which can be passed by small cars, but it will be very troublesome when crossing.
