What I love most about AIC is Jerry, of course. He's the lifeblood of the band. Had he died, rather than Layne, the band would no longer be here. One of the very best things about Cantrell is that his playing style is so accessible, so perfect. He's a blues/jazz monster guitarist in a quasi-metal band. So much talent, it defies the logic of the universe.
Absolutely man, I don't believe that there is a more tasteful guitar player out there! album after album, tasty lick after tasty lick, it defies logic for sure!! :)
I kinda wish they based the whole song on the second half of the song, after 2:10. The first half is still good, but the second half, with "I'd let you go but you're always in the way..." and the solo is legendary.
I agree that is the best part but the other parts really set the scene and take you on a journey. Of course truly great songs like this and 'Shame In You' never get the recognition they deserve...and maybe I enjoy them all the more for that lol
the first part is important too as it builds up to the epic final. I remember when I first heard the song I was like:hmm not bad and than came the ,,I'd let you go" part and that was totally euphoric
The cool thing about Jerrys vocals is that he just needs to open his mouth and make a sound, and it already sound like a million. Still going strong, most def!
The way this song fades out is heavenly. Kudos to Sean, Mike and William. Jerry's guitar work and vocals are sublime. Jerry is also one hell of a songwriter. I love this song!
I mean jerry cantrell is not a replacement man he is AIC and has always done at least backup vocals and now does most of the leads due to layne being gone
Alice in Chains is one of the only bands I've ever heard that can make one or 2 lines of lyrics so powerful that you wish the whole song was filled with them. It's like you are disappointed that they waited till the last 2 minutes to make that song come to fruition, but at the same time, that is what makes you listen to it 1,000 times... absolutely brilliant !!!!!!!!!!
Ok.........I wouldnt class a song that isnt a single, off their newest and probably least well known album a novice choice but you obviously know better.
probably my favorite track off this disc...it has all the hallmarks of classic AIC. heavy, crunchy and catchy riff, a complete 180 taken twice with a build up of musical tension all to be let loose at the end with haunting vocal harmonizing thrown in. its the same reason why I love Would?...this song has a similar formula...mainly the buildup to the end "release"...(sorry for the rambling, hope that all makes sense lol) no knock at Will or Jerry, but I often imagine how Layne would have belt out the last part of this track...
This is one of my favorite post-Layne AIC songs; I just like how it progresses in such a perfect way- The first part of the song is really heavy and epic sounding, then there's this interlude that start at 2:10.. It breaks down in this mellow yet atmospheric vibe- then after that, it goes into this Super cool sounding, Euphoric, Winding-down yet still very upbeat, Outro (3:38 and onwards). Hands down one of the best songs off this album too, never gets old. It's a shame how Unknown it is.
What's it gonna take to get them on tour ending every fucking performance with this song including an extended outro. COME ON JERRY AND WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kyyp3r same thing happened to me!!!! Lol and I fucking love it now
This song would be perfect if the middle section was longer. I felt Jerry could have extended that solo.
Totally agree with you :) 👍
i fucking love this song, jerry's voice on this, and the last part is AIC af
The last repeating riff is just phenomenal! Everytime i hear it i feel in love like the first time i heard it!

damn, the only band with a replacement vocalist that i love as much as the original! looking forward to more.shit!
Yep. Brilliant band. The catalogue is insane.
I mean jerry cantrell is not a replacement man he is AIC and has always done at least backup vocals and now does most of the leads due to layne being gone
That's jerry singing though. Duvall is backup.
The ending is an eargasm for sure lol.
This is a phenomenal song
The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is right up there with Dirt, IMO. It's that good of an album!
Jerry is a genius...
Love you .

It's funny. The first half I hear Lesson Learned, the middle I hear Whale and Wasp, and the last part feels definitely new.
I'm the damage done, your scar of yesterday....
cantrell well definitely go down as one of the music luminaries of our time
Fuck yeah
Layne don't die...He's in the Jerry's body...I love this fucking song! I'm crying in this moment... :')
This song gets real at 3:38! Give it chance, the build up is essential. Quality!

Essa música é uma viagem aos anos 90,tem uma vibe foda.
My fave song on the album and one of my all-time fave AIC tracks ever...I can so relate to that chorus.
No dislikes yet! Shows you they are respected.
Phenomenal outro.

That ending leaves me cold. In a good way. Its a challenge. Insanity. I wonder where it came from. MerryXmas from England.
One of my favs off this album for sure.

Jeden z najlepszych utworów w historii świata. Ten zespół ma ich aż kilka!
