    I always found it weird that Germany is the 4th richest country considering it never really had a full on empire, had to pay lots reparations after both world wars and its economy being split for most of recent history until the 90’s it’s just crazy how this country somehow became richer than the whole continent of Africa.

      Despite our geographic location? Germany is in the center of Europe, which is one of the biggest reasons. Also we have ideal weather conditions (not too hot not too cold). I think that's what made us "big" in the first place.

    As someone who born and raise in Germany I admit that discipline and good organization was something that was true for the Germany many years ago. Germany is really declining and you can watch how this in lightspeed is happening right now. Public transportation isnt working, cellular network is really bad and has a state like a really poor country, digitalization is also a pure mess. The organization of the state like government offices and institutions does not work efficient and expedient. Many people I know who work for the government are saying the same to that. And now because of the bad politics of the last 20 years we are facing a energy crisis which can be really dramatic in winter when things go bad. Of course Germany is a country I love and it is still a nice country but it is not the country anymore that people are thinking outside of Germany.

    While immigration is a net positive, it does have to be diverse and well-managed to reach it's full potential. Canada and the US tend to have mostly positive immigration stories as their immigration process is very selective. But it can also go poorly if it isn't well-managed, as seen in Sweden. Still, if economies want to continue growing they need to embrace immigration and turn it into an asset. As for the economy, thankfully Germany has good positions in very niche machinery products that have constant demand and not much competition. But due to it's conservative attitudes and slow embrace of digital solutions it has fallen behind more competitive economies such as the Dutch.

    As a forty-year-old German, I don't even know where to start. The German state is indebted to the point of no more. But we are creditworthy, so we keep taking on more. The capital Berlin alone would not be able to keep its head above water without federal funds, a bottomless pit. Nothing has been invested in infrastructure for ages, such as roads, bridges, fiber optic internet, etc. We're drowning in bureaucracy. The opportunity for advancement for the poor in education is nil. We are an extremely jealous society that is jealous of the unemployed and refugees because they are said to get more money for doing nothing, which of course is not true. The government has repeatedly missed the expansion of renewable energies. You hardly get a kindergarten place here. The health system here is a disaster. Hospitals are closing in droves because they are required by law to make a profit. My city's hospital hasn't had a maternity ward for years because it doesn't bring in anything. Some old police stations are contaminated with asbestos, known for years, nothing happens. The government lacks real vision for the future. The powerful business lobbies influence politics so that hardly anything is done for the common man. The Bundeswehr has been saved to death since the 2000s, which is particularly affecting us in the Ukraine crisis. Even before the arrival of the Syrian wave of refugees and then the Afghan and Ukrainian ones, more than a million apartments were missing here because the government has hardly built any social housing and is still not able to do it. Small houses in cities like Hanover near the center now cost one to two million euros. Even most Germans say we are such a rich country, the truth is that the number of millionaires is only increasing, which falsifies the income statistics. The middle class has been disappearing since the 2000s and poverty is increasing. The Germans have had fears of decline and existential fears for 20 years. Retirees cannot live off their pension. The pension system from the days of the German Empire will soon no longer be viable because fewer young people are paying in for the aging society. The government doesn't do anything, just says work until you're 70. The queues in the soup kitchens are getting longer and longer. The reunification costs a lot because the ex-GDR was on the ground. Also, under Chancellor Schröder, Germany became a low-wage sector, so that ordinary workers can no longer make a living from it, until today. Statistics only look good to economists on paper. Germany was at its peak in the 1980s and 1990s, but then the decline began. Corona, inflation and the Ukraine crisis are hitting us hard. The only consolation here is that things are much worse elsewhere.

      No, they don't need immigrants to settle in remote areas in Germany. Many Germans are moving back to the countryside from the cities. That wouldn't work at all with immigrants, because they don't know the local traditions and values and certainly not the dialects. There is no need for parallel societies in every village. Germany needs well-educated people like electricians, doctors, carpenters, computer scientists, but such people hardly come. Instead, young Africans and Syrians who can't even read and write. They end up in certain parts of the city and these are increasingly becoming ghettos. The German politicians don't see all this and do nothing about it. Denmark recognized the problems and stopped immigration

    • @travelingonline9346
      @travelingonline9346 2 года назад +2

      "Union culture" ensures a constant review of wages and working conditions resulting in moderate and realistic increase of wages over time and even de facto decreases of wages or managed layoffs. As a result wages rise when the economy is booming and companies can afford wage rises. When the economy tanks, companies don't go bancrupt as fast as you would expect. When covid hit wages did not rise but vacation and working time schedules were drastically changed. Instead of laying off people and rehiring them later companies kept their work force to be able to boost production immediately after the end of the economic downturn.

Others have to work more than 1 or 2 jobs. The middle class is basically getting wiped out at the moment. Real Estate prices are getting out of hand in many many major cities. You now basically have to spend more than 50% of your income on housing alone. After that you still need to pay your normal bills and food etc. Electricity and gas prices will drive many people into deep depts the next months.

    you forgot the very long stability of the Deutsche Mark which made investors prefer germany. when the euro was adopted, the devaluation of german money made it the leading market by becoming exporting world champion. Plus the german mindset of 'don't spend over your limit'. in german debt is the same word for guilt. germans HATE depts! we prefer debit card over credit card & we prefer CASH over all else!

    Germany rocks it! The world benefits from their work ethic and highly intelligent peoples. This video measures the output of this by measurable metrics, but the underlying answer is discipline. There is no transgender, race, police, queer, conflicts in politics. Kids don't listen to gangster rap, celebrate mental illness diversity, and there are real consequences committing crime. This is the real answer to the videos question.
