Totally new to this genre of crafting but I can not wait to get my hands on these moulds and create! I am definitely going to do my version of the one you created here, can't wait!

  • @sharonjansky3877
    @sharonjansky3877 3 года назад +2

    Great instructions on how to do but it would be very helpful to tell us what products you use. Like the glue, the sealer (spray or brush on) the antiquing gel,etc.

    • @IronOrchidDesigns
      @IronOrchidDesigns  3 года назад +2

      Great suggestion! We're currently working on a blog post that will detail that out. In the meantime... the glue is Titebond Quick and Thick, the sealer is any high quality water-based polyurethane (we like General Finishes, but your local stockist can also make some great suggestions) and the antiquing gel is the Valspar brand (but again, your IOD stockist can also recommend a favorite if you need help). Thanks for taking the time to watch and happy making!

    What’s the difference from using antique gel vs dark brown paint? Love your products!

    • @IronOrchidDesigns
      @IronOrchidDesigns  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! We've found the gel is a bit thicker and settles into the crevices with more intense color, but we also like using color washes (made with acrylic paint and water) for antiquing. You can see how we do that in this video (if you don't want to get the gel): ruclips.net/video/pEeSYxwD5XI/видео.html

    I’ve been looking for antique gel. Are you using the antique gel that is primarily sold to use on top of leather? Everything I found is a liquid an yours appears to be a cream. I just want to make sure I’m purchasing the right product.

    Could you use brown wax instead of antique gel ? Plus do IOD sell dog and cat moulds ?

    • @IronOrchidDesigns
      @IronOrchidDesigns  2 года назад

      You can definitely use brown wax, just be sure to seal your piece before putting on the wax so you can easily wipe it back. If you don't seal first, it will often come out too dark. Happy making!

  • @debbiecooper3125

    how did you keep the cream white paint and sealer off of the mustard part of the canvas? Did you seal it first and then glue the moulds on?

    • @IronOrchidDesigns
      @IronOrchidDesigns  3 года назад

      The mustard paint is the base coat, which you want to let dry before dry brushing on the white so it doesn't blend. No need to seal before applying the moulds. Hopefully that answers your question but let us know if not. :)

    • @sonyabramlage1766
      @sonyabramlage1766 2 года назад

      I think the whole thing (not just the moulds) needs to be sealed. And, it probably would have been easier to seal the base before moving onto gluing the moulds on. Then paint the moulds. After paint is dry, seal the moulds as well.
