Only because they claimed rights to nemesis system. It’s not like other companys don’t think of doing similar thing in own games. Monolith are just assholes and decided not to allow other creators to do this. Imagine if Doom had claimed rights to shooting in games
I don't think they can copyright the idea of the Nemesis system. What they probably did was copyright the code they used. If I make a better system with different code they can't do shit. This is a difficult system to code into a game and other studios simply have other priorities.

This game is so good, even I'm still trying to understand how everything works behind the scenes, and I'm sat on a platinum trophy and about 500 hours. Normally with a game, when something happens, you start to pick apart and discover how all the little cogs fit and work together. But not this game. There are very few games that have both immersed me and made me feel satisfied every single time without getting boring. With other games, usually within a few hours or even the first time, you understand how the mechanics work. Triggers, timing, execution, all of that. But I'm still finding things and rare events that I DONT know how they work. This game is one of the most well polished and sublime I have ever played, and it's a true joy to experience.
I love the game but it's such a shame they went and made the nemesis system exclusive to them, like, why? It would've been so much better if more nemesis games were here, and it wouldn't make Shadow Of War less popular, on the contrary really.
KeiosKod The first betrayer tried to kill him so I dont think he would have chosen to side with them. Good thing too cause Pash was the first captain to save me from an execution in an earlier captain ambush
Well, unless you're Megatron, in Which case it will usually be Just Starscream betraying you. But yeah, it probably I'd a more realistic portrayal of Beteayal
It's called a rebellion in game. It's guaranteed to happen if you have too many orc captains in one region. The game basically forces it to create enemy captains.
I love how when playing this game you feel like you have real rivalries and relationships and it just keeps you playing because you get so attached to the orcs
The only thing in both of the Morder games that has a permanent spot in my memory is in Shadow of Mordor. This one defender captain had to have killed death itself with how many times he came back to life, and killed me quite a few times as well. He had become so immune to damage and techniques I eventually only had one avenue to kill him, which was basically to mob him with bodies, and any allied orc captains I had could barely stand up to him. Couldn't dominate this monster either, he was fearless and battle-hardened. It was so bad the five red "boss" orcs at the end of that game were so easy it was almost disappointing. I never saw an orc with the number of strengths he had since, in either game.
Man wish I got something like that. Only person I got close to that was some olog who kept breaking my swords as he was immune to essentially my entire build lol.
Same here. Funny thing is, mine carried into shadow of war and is my rival there too. I must say, he was so much tougher in SOM but in SOW he just won’t fucking stay dead. Azdush the slippery is one bad orc.
I had one in shadow of mordor aswell but i FINALLY killed him after trying so har basically he has like 1 weakness and a shitload of immunities and strenght and his weakness is that he is Mortally Vulnerable to stealth now u might say "thats easy just be sneaky and stab him from the back" well you see i tried but .. HES IMMUNE TO STEALTH one day tho while he was guarding the warchief ... i jumped on top of him (stealth) and fucking murdered him So i think i was able to do that simply cuz i jumped on top of him which i think the immunity did not cover
The nemesis system is so cool. One of my favorite gaming stories comes from the first one. There was this one orc captain that I just didn’t take seriously when I tried killing them so I kept dying in some dumb ways. It eventually got to the point where he was beating me even though I was trying. It took like 10 encounters to finally kill him. Then like 3 hours later he comes back from the dead to fight me one more time. Literally one of the best twist reveals I’ve ever experienced in a video game lmao
The fact that Zugor seemed like he was the cause of the mass betrayal and the resignation in his voice before his death as if he has realised that his plan had failed was awesome.
I'd by defaut make him the Overlord of that region's fortress. Betrayel is a common tactic in Mordor, one I myself use against warchiefs in both games. Legitimate loyalty should be praised and rewarded.
Now I know that we’re all thinking that it’s cool that he got 5 betrayals at once. But can we talk about what a real g pash is? Man saw all of his Friends turn back to the dark side and said. N A H
Tbf his head was bashed in by said traitor to start things off. I like to think Pash caught wind of the impending coup, was on his way to tell Talion and got caught

I agree. He got it, only to end up dying soon after though. But the Nemesis system doesn’t just have negative effects to make the game harder for you. It also has some effects that benefit you. Such as one of your Orcs deciding to show up with a gift for you or an Orc cheating death just keep serving you. I’m not kidding. Funny story: I was in the middle of the post game shadow war in the icy region(forgot it’s name) and on of my War Chiefs got glitched into the wall and I couldn’t get him out. I lost the fort. Fast forward to me clearing out an outpost and the came back betraying me and I got sad. I was able to recruit him again and I assigned him as my bodyguard. Fast forward to me and the boys taking our fort back, and I’m fighting the overlord. I’m fighting for my life as the dude is adapting and just kicking my ass and he’s gotten rid off my last chances. While I’m about to get killed, the boi came to me and killed the bastard. “You may have forsaken me, but I have not forsaken you” he said to me. I made him my Overlord after that.

There was this one orc captain that I just didn’t take seriously when I tried killing them so I kept dying in some dumb ways. It eventually got to the point where he was beating me even though I was trying. It took like 10 encounters to finally kill him.
