I guess it'd work for younger kids but for highschool, 90% of the time the notes you need to do the worksheet aren't attached so you have to talk to them anyway.

My mom is a kindergarten teacher every summer before school starts she'll bring me to her classroom so I can help her with stuff and she uses that tape marker thing and so when we're getting ready for her kids I'll go through every single set of markers testing each of them and replacing them to the point where we have like fifty lids
When I was in like 2nd grade, we had this thing where we did the “I’m sharp” and “I’m not sharp”, thing with pencils. And each week, two children in our class were picked out to sharpen the pencils, clean the classroom, etc. after every lunch for one week (Monday-Friday). We had to skip the break after lunch and I remember hating it so much:)
I had one teacher who did the missing work box and I always went there first if I was out sick and it was rarely updated because, well, teachers are busy so I still had to go bug the teacher for missing work. It was more likely they made a separate pile all papercliped together of the work I missed.
One thing my teacher last year did that I didn’t appreciate enough was little absent folders for when we missed she would just slap the work in the folder for you and this year we have a bin thing like yours and it’s hell finding papers from when you’ve missed a lot of time.
Don't just tape them, super glue them together. I know as a kid I would've seen that as a challenge to peel the tape off. Also, don't y'all have bluetak in the US?
The only one I’d reconsider is the water bottle thing. I’d be getting up and going over like 5 times a class. It could be just as distracting. Maybe something on the side of the desk instead? The hot glue one was big brain tho 💯
I remember us using a broken pencil as an excuse to gather around the sharpener. We were told not to use it when the teacher was talking so it became a kind of kids version of the watercooler thing at an office. Chat, gossip, sharpen your pencil, and then sit back down.
My teacher would just tell me to do nothing when people are doing the activity I missed and he does not care about our water bottles but says us to put them on the floor if they are metal
The idea of having a bucket for sharp pencils and a bucket for dough pencils is definitely a good idea but it never really works because the sharp pencils never get filled up and there’s always like one or two doll pencils in the bucket
The taped markers are a game changer. I hated using markers before that and I did ten sets of thick markers and ten sets of thin. They lasted my last two years of school and teachers were borrowing them instead of using their own. I still do it for my own kids and the worse they've done to them is write on the tape. They were so easy to pass out and collect, and stacked nicely. No more ripped boxes, lost caps or sets of all one color. It does take a little bit of practice for small hands, but they get the hang of it.
I wish I could do that birthday hack but I'd need one board for each period. A total of 5 boards. Also, admin REALLY don't want us new teachers using paper. Schoology only. I bet they're hoping that in a few years they can get rid of printers and copy machines for teachers and save a couple pennies.
Its not worth it. The extra time spent doing project like this are on your own time. You are paid contract hours and days. You should only work those days and hours. These tips are for first year teachers to get suckered in to working 96 hour work weeks.
The pencil one reminds me of that one teacher in middle school who did let people borrow pencils, but only if he had a shoe hostage to prevent pencil theft. But in elementary school most of my teachers just made us sharpen our pencils before a lesson if we didn't have our own pencil sharpener. Though I dodged all that by getting sold on mechanical pencils young, my only concern was running out of lead instead of sharpness and breakage.
the only issue with the bottle one is that then they are constantly going to be asking to get a dri k and disturbing the class or just getting up without asking and obviously you don't want that either
Coming from a former student whose classroom had the sharp and full pencil jars... They didn't work at all. Kids just kept sharpening their pencils anyways or mixing the jars up. Nearly halfway through the year our teacher just stopped bothering
The last one is a really good thing I have selective mutism and asking my teacher for makeup work when I was out sick never worked out I would never ask for it because of the selective mutism
My teacher used to put up those birthday things She remembered every single student’s birthday but mine which was the first day of holidays aka the day after the final school day but sings for a kids birthday at the end
I'm a middle school student and when I was in elementary my teacher tried most of these ideas but my class destroyed everything and they tried the last one but there was always one kid that would sharpen their pencil in the middle of the class no matter what
For the sharpening pencil one my 5th grade teacher did that and it worked for a bit until people 1 didn't return the pencils 2 didn't sharpen them (it was someone's job
Me knowing there’s still gonna be dried up markers around the classroom

Yeah.
It's not. When you cycle through 6 sets of 30 students everyday none of this can be maintained

I'm only commenting for the algorithm, this is a really great video and I think more people need to see it
The pencil one is cool.
Until halfway through the year all the kids start stealing them, or put the dull pencils in the sharp bucket
They would still interrupt because they're going to ask you can I get a pencil
I know I would be too nervous to get my water bottle and I’d just stay dehydrated the entire day
I would just like to point out that if MY class had these, there would be no difference at all

when I was little instead of taping them together, they were hot glued, the tops on to foam, and each table would have one of them.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
