Far as I’ve found out the air vent served as ventilation for the Mail train that ran between the old post office sorting depot & the town hall, I can’t give you any references for this but I spent many hours years ago looking into it’s purpose, one again great vid, the vent is the only part of this I knew about, keep up the great work

Thank you for all the work you put into your videos, they are very informative, especially with the little quirky bits of information that you sometimes unearth!

I used to work in Leeds until 2009 but when I occasionally go these days I barely recognise it. I am fascinated by history and find it really interesting to know what has gone before in a particular area.

What shame these buildings were torn down to be replaced by virtually nothing 😞😞

I used to work in Elizabeth house (for Clarion) until a few years ago. Now working across the street at Wellington place, so found this video fascinating. Thank you!

So interesting! I love this series, it would be so good if you could do the history of Albion street/ Albion Place, some fascinating buildings, and from what I know a former head surgeon of Leeds general infirmary named William Hey used to live at the current site of which is bills restaurant!

At the end of Whitehall Quay there is a substation. Inside this suby is a long cable tunnel that heads in the direction of Queen St. I walked 100 yards of it before turning back

I’ve been in that, walked to the end and back keeping as well away from the fat raised cables on the rack as I could, the hum of electricity could be felt strongly in there, wouldn’t wanna go look again but very interesting all the same.
