For a short period of time I was the Property manager at No. 1 Dock Street, The Aire and Calder Offices, building was linked into Bridge End as apartments, and also included, though seperate Simpsons Fold, the big four storey building facing the river. No.1 Dock Street retains it's internal layout, with a grand staircase off the entrance and a deep basement, as dose Bridge End, both badly flooded in 2015, along with the five duplex apartments in Dock Street.

My uncle used to run a charity from no. 17 in the early 1980s. I have many happy memories of visiting there

Very interesting. As a youth,I had to traverse across this bridge most weekdays on the way to school and following on to the right parallel to the river ( school being at Manor road near to Water lane).
Whilst crossing the bridge from the city end I always was taken by the building Known as the Leeds version of the famous NY 'Flat iron' building and am very surprised you did not mention it given you mentioned buildings in equal distance(Malmaison) on the t'other side!!!
Maybe your saving that for another time!? Still, very informative!

I love that building Patrick. I think it is my favourite Leeds building. I did think about including it, but its address is Hunslet Road, so for accuracy, I left it out. I will definitely cover it in the future. Either on its own or with Salem Chapel.

@@GeogJuice Nice to read of your swift reply. Might I throw up to your attention the three Venitian or Italinate style chimneys off Water lane and further up that lane and down the road called ... MARSHALL STREET OR DAVID STREET where a copy of a famous EGYPTIAN Temple can be found.

Super interesting. Thanks for uploading. I’m from Leeds originally but haven’t lived there for over 25 years. I wouldn’t recognize the place now

I've always been interested in the old mill goits between there and the station, where the King's Mill was. It's weird how a whole bunch of waterways were in that area, and are now all long gone. I'd love to see a video on that 👍

As usual, very informative, and interesting video. Congratulations on such a successful range of historic elements of our wonderful city.
I've commented on your videos before. particularly the Kirkgate one, remember me I worked at Woodworkers supplies and was a suspect to the murder of prostitute Mary Judge (I named her Rudge in the comment).
Well, at the time, I was building a career in Ironmongery. After leaving Woodworkers Supplies (I didn't like working Saturdays) I started at Hick Bros, (The kettle was long gone) The building looks very much cleaner than it did then.
You won't be aware of this, but, embedded in the wall, on the river side, there's a cannon ball. I don't suppose that its still there now, but, the staff maintained that it had been there since the battle of Leeds Bridge in the Civil War.
When I was a schoolboy, The famous one man submarine that successfully penetrated German Harbours during WW2 was brought to Leeds for us all to see. It was moored at the riverside down Pitfall Street. My father, who of course fought in WW2 went to great lengths to make sure that my brother and I went to see it.
Watching your video started me thinking out loud, so, I thought that I'd let in on it. Once again thanks for the memories.

Think Pitfall Street was where the poor David Oluwale was chased into the Aire by those 2 coppers.

Thank you, I wasn't aware of David Oluwale and so I have just been reading up about him. This location is particularly strange and it seems to have attracted many negative events over the years. So many water deaths, often with hardly a mention in the press. (I'm not suggesting copper involvement) Just still searching for answers after losing a friend in that exact location
