I used to spend a fair amount of time kayaking and traditional tackle fishing the Colorado River and got to recognize the different guides as they came up and down. My only concern was Alvin getting to my holes before me...I’m wasn’t ever worried about anyone else! Thank you for the detailed videos and the laughter sir.

30 now with my own family and back on my home waters of Minnesota where I never thought I'd return after living in Montana and fishing for the passed 8 years but now its like a whole new world being back. Nostalgic.. fly fishing with fiber glass rods as of late and a 50 year old Daiwa 232 reel that's MINT. Haha just makes you feel a bit more connected I guess? Thanks for your videos. Gives me the confidence to follow my passions! Tight lines brother

Hello there! Thanks for the info! I'm in my 70's, a widow, and do not have a reel. My husband did and his reels went to other family members. I love that this is random, and if the Universe wants me to enjoy your "slightly dinged" reel, it will happen! Loved learning about the drag system, construction, and arbor sizes! Thank you for your service, and your continued messages both of fly fishing and life!

Your flyfishing for bass series inspired me to go out on the buffalo bayou here in Houston. I hooked a bass on a popper. All this time I was pointing the rod tip up instead of using a strip, strip, strip strike, to set the hook. I am now also taking out all of the slack from the line for a quick hookset. Thanks for all the great content. Great channel! I will be working on my casts this evening.....accuracy and consistency.

So years ago I was fishing with my dad on the Rio Grande way up in Colorado. As we were fishing he noticed something in the brush on the bank. I went over to explore and to my disbelief, found a sage one 7wt. No one around and looked like it had been underwater for a bit. On the hike out, lost the top section of the rod... doh! That rod sat at my parents place up in Colorado until my dad passed away a couple of years ago. He passed down all of his fly fishing stuff to me and I’ve had that rod sitting around in my closet since. I just sent it off last week to Sage to get fixed up so I can have a 7wt for the coast! That reel would be pretty dope on that rod once I get it back 🤞🏼...
