- Can I beat Pokemon Omega ruby, if each pokemon can only be used a single time?
I've been trying to come up with unique pokemon challneges for you all recently, and I think iv'e got one. Typically in pokemon, as you catch more of them, and progress in the story, your team gets bigger, and you have more options to chose from.
But what if I could only use each pokemon a single time? Meaning every Pokemon who participates in a trainer battle must be permaboxed afterwards. Are there enough encounters to complete the game? Lets find out!

Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules:
1) Only Catch The First Pokémon On Each Route
2) If A Pokémon is used in a trainer battle, they are immediately permaboxed
3) No Items In Battle
4) Set Mode
5) No Over Leveling

I propose we call this the N challenge, since most of N’s Pokémon are newly-caught wild Pokémon that he releases after battle
He permanently boxes them tho, which is literally the opposite of what N stands for.

Haven't seen anyone else do this run. Would love to see this done on Scarlet/Violet too! Great video.
I might try this in paldea, but I imagine there are far fewer mandatory battles so that would make it a bit easier imo.
@@NuzlockeJoe since none of the trainer battles are mandatory there should only be around 45-50 battles total (8 for gyms [+however many have trainers, im not sure], 5 for the E4/champion, 10 for titans, 12 for team star, 6 for nemona, 1 for arven, and 1 for sada/turo). so yeah it should definitely be easier

Just FYI, hustle only applies to physical moves - so Togekiss's Dazzling Gleam was unaffected by the accuracy decrease and the "boost"
Yeah I didn’t realize that. It’s not an ability I tend to use, so I guess I never realized how it works. Now it makes sense why Togekiss just didn’t miss. I thought I was super lucky lol

I’m glad! I have a son whose 3, so I make my videos appropriate for someone his age. Granted, he doesn’t really watch them that often, but it’s nice to know he could.
I reccomend chuggaaconroy too! I've been watching his videos since I was little, he's really good at showcasing cool hidden stuff and bringing you in on his own excitement for the games :)
Yeah I really like him too! Granted, I’ve only watched his Chrono Trigger videos, but there were like 50 of them, and they kept me hooked!
Scott's Thoughts is a very clean Pokemon challenge channel. A bit overly mathematical and technical sometimes though.
This reminds me a lot of pokemon rangers (in a good way). In that game after you used a pokemon for a task (they didn't have a battling system like main games) the pokemon would be released. However, your starter/partner pokemon was never released. Great video!
Is that, NUZLOCKE JOE?! Nah I’m ngl this is one of the more creative ones. It requires you to optimize how often you use certain Pokémon for each fight, as well as being able to avoid trainers. Also the way you caught 6 mystery Pokémon to deal with the elite 4 is super smart. I just love the way this challenge makes you truly explore more and more Pokémon which is not something many people do since most teams just kinda look the same

You might be able to actually beat this in ruby/sapphire since there's only 50 mandatory battles, and if you remove dupes clause, there are enough encounters from the water routes.
Yeah I was surprised how many more mandatory battles there were in ORAS, especially in the early gyms.
Maaan this was funnn, you should do another runs in other pokemon versions, kudos!

Wow this is such an incredible effort and a very entertaining challenge run. Every Poketuber does monotype hardcore nuzlockes ect but this takes real skill, creativity and patience. Keep it up

@@NuzlockeJoeThanks. Where it all begun for me in gen 2. Hoping for a revisit in future games so they can finally fix the infamous level curve and the lack of johto mons in major fights.
@@LiamFromNewBarkTown and change where you get houndour. This a small thing for sure, but it always frustrated me that out of the very few dark Pokémon introduced in Johto, one is only in kanto.
@@NuzlockeJoe Yeah Houndour should be on the routes before Goldenrod. Will never understand why they removed Teddiursa and Phanpy as early encounters from Crystal in the first few routes either. Sneasel was also removed from ice path, Larvitar from the game corner

I don’t know if there are enough areas for that, except maybe scarlet and violet. I tried to do this as a HCN but only made it to the third gym before running out of Pokémon

I did this for Crystal but only for Gym Leaders and the battle against Red. It was a randomized file. A bit time consuming but was also rather interesting.

I think it could’ve been good enough if we discarded the area rule and just used species clause, meaning that it’s more about managing the different species you have at your disposal,while also allowing more freedom.

Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire are the games in which I caught my first ever shiny, a Trapinch on the sandy route. I was bored, and deleted the save file, forgetting that Trapinch was in there, as I didn’t have Home to put it in, and no use for it. The Pokegods have forgiven me, however, and blessed me with two green shinies in Violet to make up for the sacrifice of Trapinch. I will assemble a team of green shinies to show the Pokegods that I appreciate the luck.

Should’ve done 1 use per Major battle, it probably wouldn’t have required you to be lax about your rules about how many Pokémon per route you could catch

A question,the challenge was also trying to use as few route repeats as possible or you could've gotten all mons in every route available,also couldn't you have used a grass pokemon for wallace?
@@mrpiccionedivino5598 I tried to do it as a nuzlocke, so only catching the first Pokémon I got per route.
Good question. I eventually had to go back to previous routes and get the second encounter. But I wanted to avoid just catching all the Pokémon
Also one last thing:did you do the last may battle because you needed to buy at the giant market?because i'm pretty sure she's optional otherwise,also hustle only boots normal attacks,i'm not sure but i don't think it counts special attacks as non-perfect accuracy for that reason.
@@mrpiccionedivino5598 so the last May battle happens right after the credits, but before you can do anything else. I didn’t plan on showing it, but since I hadn’t use groudon yet, as he was my elite 4 back up, I decided why not?
And you are 100% correct about hustle. It’s not one I normally use, so it did have 0 impact on Togekiss special moves. That’s fascinating

If would probably be possible doing it as a real nuzlocke that way. The way I did it, there was no way one encounter per route would be enough

I did, and maybe it was a lame excuse, but I didn’t officially start the run till after I got poke balls. That’s common enough in nuzlockes

No, it’s actually pretty common in nuzlockes. Without rare candies, that run would easily have taken several weeks of pure grinding.

26:00 sorry to comment so many times lol, but in traditional Nuzlocke rules, different stages are considered different Pokémon, so for example, if you catch a Pidgey, it dies before it can evolve, and you get a Pidgeotto as your encounter somewhere else, it’s fair game

I see where you’re coming from about allowing evolutions if the other one already died, but I think that would encourage me to try and keep everyone devolved, to kinda double down on encounters later. If I do a future run, I might remove the 1 per route rule, we’ll see.
