He turned 18 today. Congrats Joao. Brazil cheering for you 🇧🇷
Those who dont know Joao won the US Open 2023 junior slam and also held world no 1 ranking in juniors !!
Yes and his compatriot Thiago Wild won the junior US Open a few years before that.
@@I_LOVE_THE_SUNCOAST Seyboth won a junior slam as an 18 year-old. He was beating kids, that wasn't impressive. Fonseca won a junior slam just 2 weeks after turning 17. This is how you can separate the good players from the great. Fonseca stopped playing junior events right after turning 17. Seyboth was playing junior events at 18.5 years old (the age he had when the won that title). And Fonseca already beat Seyboth in a pro challenger match btw, when Fonseca was 16. lol
This 4 d info...👏
This guy is definitely going to be something in a few years.
This guy is a real deal ! In a couple of years top 10 ! His ball striking is so clean it’s so satisfying
x doubt
I would be shocked if it takes him 2 years to crack the top ten
but he is too incosistent. the highlights doesnt show the any errors.
He has challengers already, at 17 years old, so he has time to improve on that area of his game.@@palags4860
@@palags4860 bro he just turned 18yo… Alcaraz wasn’t that consistent at 17 also
ATP be like friendship ended with Sinner. Now Fonseca is my best friend 😂
I've been following his games pretty close. To reach the next level he still needs to improve his physicality (normal for a 18yo kid) and consistency. He is hitting lots of balls in the net or long after one brilliant point. He climbed more than 700 positions this year, won his first challenger title and can go toe to toe with top 80 to top 200 players. To climb that ladder is entirely up to him, whether he can add some tools, variations and game IQ or not.
That's the risk of flat hitting. They're lower percentage shots but flashy to watch
This kid hits the ball harder than anyone I’ve seen. Esp at that age.
I agree man, had the opportunity to watch him in person at a challenger. That forehand - wow!
Alcaraz probably
Him vs. Rublev or Alcarez would be fire.
@@sheniz1337 This is clearly harder hitting than alcaraz, but now that you mention it I realize their styles are similar huge forehands mixed with dropshots
@@strider8816 why is his forehand so huge? its like only del potro has a faster forehand than that
Brazil's own Sinner.
I am sure he'll be top 20 within a couple of years. Bar injuries of course.
Joao is definitely future top 10 and heading for #1 and slams. That FH is titanic
He makes the clay surface looks like hard court... Massive shots!
Just great to watch him playing, clean technique.
A new star from Brazil
These are great highlights, can't wait to watch Fonseca grind his way up the ATP, incredible power both wings and dead accurate to boot.
I've been following him since I saw him beat Fils and Garin in Rio and I became his fan. Soon the top 10 will also face him, I'm sure of it.
Future multiple grand slam winner for sure!
Insane potential!! What a talent! I really hope he gets the success he deserves. Vamos Joao!!
Fonseca going to be really fun to watch!
He looks like a very promising player with great potential. I would like to see him play on hard court and grass so as to see how he handles himself.
By far one of my favorite players to watch. Unreal
Happy 18th birthday, Joao Fonseca 🎉🎊
This guy looks amazing
Be interesting if he meets Sinner or Alcaraz one day...
Hoping he qualifies for the US Open tmrw! Maybe he could draw one of them in the first round...
he was a hitting partner for them in last year's ATP Finals.
This is awesome😅. What an Explosive forehand from an 18-year old. I think He is the youngest in the top 200 players ranked in the world at 162.
He's insane! A joy to watch🔥
This kid if he works hard can achieve a lot. I see no visible weakness, he just needs to ramp up stamina and he is good to go.
I think i might have just become a Joao Fonseca fan
I hope he can keep up, have a great team with him and continue growing his game.
Wow, maybe we're about to have another big 3 era?
We’ll see how high he can go. I hope he can crack the top 5-10. Amazing ball striker
Vamo João 💪🏻
O Brasil está com vc
Give him some time to grow and he will reach the top😉
He's a beast!
Incredible power of forehand with accuracy!
Carlos became world n.1 at 19 and has done a lot for 21, this kid definitely has potential seeing he’s also killing it!
He’ll be a top clay court player in the next few years for sure. Once he learns how to use his power on the other two surfaces he’s going to be so fun to watch. If Novak Djokovic thinks he can be one of the next big players, who am I to disagree.
New kid on the block!
The Fonse is pretty cool.
Woah. That is huuuuuuuuuge. Kid is a beast. I'd be double checking his test results for sure tho lol. Hope he stays healthy b/c his joints are gonna get quite a workout with all that torque and impact.
One to watch, next up competitor.
i saw him last year but 2025 he will enter top 15 for sure
Esse muleke vai longe... Bora Fonseca!!!
Holy smokes! This kid is insane!
He's like a more aesthetically pleasing version of Sinner. Of course, Sinner is the nicest guy on the tour - so imma gonna stay loyal to him!
He is a doper though
@@yj1864 no
@@yj1864 get your facts straight, he has nothing to do with that
He has more shot selection than Sinner.
@@yj1864 So was Dopedal, but he always seemed to never get injured on clay, wonder why?😄
killer forehand!
Olha o Brasil chegando novamente no tênis 👋👋👋
he's gonna be incredible, literally had that stadium in Rio bouncing that was insane
News headlines in 2039 - fonseca beats alcaraz at us open to dethrone djokovic for most grand slam titles
Good one, would love to see Fonseca in the mix with Alcaraz and Sinner winning Slams in the coming years
I'll make sure to keep my eyes peeled for the kid
Can't wait for him to become the world #1
Never gonna happen
@@RawDogTV sure it will.. go see him live and compare to other players...
This kid is unreal!
Fonseca is QUITE A PLAYER!! Amazing.
Hold ur horses. Tons of great junior players who never won grand slams. Gasquet, Nalbandian, Monfils, Tsonga, Dimitrov, Zverev, Shapovalov.
All of them are still amazing players
@@ayushrayoo3624 That's right, if Fonseca has a comparable career to the guys on this list his career will already be a big success. But I hope he will be able to will some slams.
Brazilian Machino!! 🇧🇷
0:49 a mulher solta até um "caaaaralho" com aquela forehand kkkkkk
I think (hope) that Joao will win at least one or two main draw titles in 2025. He shows great promise.
Impressive. He looks like having the strong weapons of both Alcaraz and Sinner.
He is definitively the next big thing in the tennis tour
This is Brazilian...🦾
Already a very good clay player
Top 10 ranking 2027 and Grand Slam champion. 🇧🇷 👍
I honestly think Joao is better than 18 years old Alcaraz
well, two months remaining to prove it, cause Alcaraz at 18y and 2 months won his first ATP and he was the youngest of all time to do that. Fonseca reminds me more Ben Shelton.
@@fr4ncescofric well not the same competition tho, current Alcaraz and Sinner are way better than Joao, so the chance of him to win any ATP in 2 months is extremely low. You have to compare his plays with old Alcaraz videos, Alcaraz was pretty bad in serve back then, while at least to me, Joao already has good serve and same shot quality and point construction skill as 18 years old Alcaraz.
Ben Shelton has no point construction plan, most of the time he just hit hard to force a winner, he very very rarely set up shots.
こいつは大器だな
Brillant future, he just needs to work hard on his serve, then he will be a next legend.
Remember Sinner at 18 ? This kid could be next 👍🏻
But he won't dope
Yeah he definitely reminds me of Closterboy.
@@antoniusdesir5585 already cleared by experts, you're not funny pal
@@harshilgupta9992 loooool keep on hating and being mesinformed clown 🤡🤡🤡🤡
@@harshilgupta9992 He didn't dope, you clearly can't read.
Fun to watch!🎉
What a player. Future top 10.
I do hope that this marvellous young man will not go down the noisy route of Shelton, with loud shrieking and over-celebrating.
Agreed, but Fonseca seems to be a good humble kid. Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
Ele desconhece o golpe "slice" é so pancadão
gooo Fonseca
His footwork is suberb
Happy birthday Joao Fonseca !
He will be NO1 one day, Im sure!(I think in 2 years this can easely happen)
i dont know, he is very tall and young, it might be too much, wish him good luck but he is far far away even from the top 50
He has the talent but he should improve himself on grass and hard courts not only on clay
No.1 in 2 years can easily happen? Alcaraz & Sinner will be around for a very long time. Remember them? Fonseca's a really promising player on clay but he needs a lot of improvements on grass & hard courts from what I have seen. No chance of getting near the no.1 spot.
Im very sure that maybe top5 , but realistically speaking as long as Alcaraz and Sinner are there , there's not too many chances for him to achieve that in that period of time.
For reference, Alcaraz and Sinner started to enter the top 100 at the same age Fonseca(#162) is now. He is not that far off and he'll definitely get to top 10/5 in his career, but his competition for the NO1 spot in a few years is huge.
Hugely talented, obviously...
Hope he's a badass😂 Too many goodies on the tour and somebody has to step into Nick's shoes😈
He ain't. He is pretty calm and collected.
nick is just another establishment player sinner is the true villain hehehe
Bora João!!! Tem tudo pra ganhar alguns Grand Slams no futuro 🔥🔥🔥
Excellent choix de reportage
Impressive forehand !
Sinneresque although with slight bigger loop
Beautiful technique indeed
His footwork is phenomenal. The way he gets to the ball, into position, allows him to play with power and control. 6:45 is an example.
His matches ticket prices after this video ↗️↗️📈
No doubt its incredibly impressive shotmaking and at a glance you think 'multiple Slam winner' great movement, easy power off cleanly struck grounstrokes a serve that will get better as he gets older and stronger. You just hope his body holds up to the grind of the Tour and his love of the game doesn't fade ,if he builds on what he has, its hard to see him not be a real force going forward.
Cheers to the young talent!
Toperson!! Parabéns João!!🥳
this is amazing, joao could be the next sinner (but without the scandals)
What scandals? Learn to read.
Woow!! Hopefully he wouldn't get injured much!! He has a lot of potential 💪
Cara, mais promissor que o Guga, com todo respeito!
This boy bagel Fils😮😮😮

Happy birthday Joao
He hasn’t won’t anything yet. Skill set is not an issue, but his mental game and stamina will ultimately be decisive when it comes to titles.
Like any heavy hitter, he runs out of gas quickly. Alcaraz had both the stamina and shot making
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
looks like mix of Novak and Federer. wow
This guy is something
Wow❤❤
VAMO BRASIL
He was under 18 in all of these points 🥶

you are looking at 2026 French open champion
I Just bet on him today and RUclips recommend this 😂
Nothing on hard court?
He won the USA Open junior
Soon, this guy is improving in all surfaces slowly
Next Alcaraz
In highlights, even my grandma is a pro player.
