Bombaclaat Youre actually good
This is so cool! I love how proud the speaker is about their culture, so refreshing! I think my favorite is the occupational greetings because work is America is so formal, but if I was called a techie as a friendly greeting, I'd probably like my job way more haha
This is great. 💯. Just subscribed. Can't wait to see more🙌
I have a sweet tooth for Jamaicans.❤️🇯🇲
😂😂😂😂😂
Empress (from rastafarians).
Mi no hear “Soldier!” A Jamaican fave.
That “got fat” broke mi lil heart when I when’s back after having my son😂
4:33 first thing that came to my mind was
farina- foreigner
oh and for the teech, it would only be used as a greeting by an adult to greet that said teacher, a student saying that to their teacher would be seen disrespectful.
Bless op!
I head nod down.
I use a lot of them depending on who i meet. If I meet my family (Jamaican) i give the proper greeting.
If it's someone who tries to act Jamaican i say, "bumbaclaat, where yuh be" lol
There soo many who try, baad!
Greetings I bring from Jah waaaaaaa ragamuffin.

Wow! Big up everytime!!!!
Hi! 🤗 New here, first video. Just wondering what influenced the spelling of the patois words displayed in your video. I've noticed some similarities in spelling used by the linguistics department at UWI but I also know that some word spellings may vary among Jamaicans so I became curious. Great video!
Hi Diamond. Great question and thanks for asking! This writing system was developed around 60 years ago by a Jamaican Linguist with French roots (Frederic Cassidy) and modified in recent years UWI Linguists. I’ve been using it because I believe it best captures the sounds of the Jamaican language. The spelling will vary among Jamaicans because not everyone knows this writing system (or unfortunately, value our Language enough). Our Language has never been formally taught (that’s another story), but with the advent and explosion of technology, we see people communicating more in a written form, and trying their level best to represent the sounds of Patois using English. Unfortunately English isn’t consistent with eg pier, pear, pair . CassidyJLU writing if understood, eliminates those inconsistencies.
Sitting in mi yard in St.ann wondering who use all these greetings.if yuh coming to jamaica just try "hello mon"it wuk good,or be a bit colourful with "what appen" mi never Eva hear anyone call out "yello" lot a fuckri inna here
Your cut scenes keep me rolling!
I've lived in 3 different western countries that are considered international countries, which means I've been around people from all across the world. However, I'm back in Africa for now. That being said, I have to say in my personal opinion, the Jamaican accent is the best and it's my favorite accent.
In addition, there's no way I'm going to stay in Jamaican and not perfect my knowledge of the Jamaican Patois before moving on to the next country. Suffice to say that it's a lovely broken English spoken with a lovely accent and this is enough reason for me to visit Jamaica❤
The problem is all Jamaicans grow up speaking patois. Its in our DNA. Its when eeeeediats now try to phonetically spell a word by how it sounds. Ridicoulous as this dumbs down the people dem. You cant proclaim to be someone of importance and speak like you come from backka wall. It nah go wuk.
hail up Mami! anudda bashy video deh!

a jamaican called my coworker "virgin!" is this an insult or some type of jamaican thing I'm missing?🤔
@@TheKensei777 unfortunately In many countries culturally, to be a virgin at an adult age is something mocked. There are shows made about this “40 year old virgin” etc. To answer your question, calling someone a virgin in a mocking way is not something unique to our Jamaican culture it’s a general culture thing nowadays

"Chief," "Dread" if appropriate, "My youth."
Hey youth.
This had to be the best accent ever!
Trying to learn some patois for one of my coworkers. He’s such a sweet man, but he told me that because of his accent he doesn’t really know anyone, he’s shy because he doesn’t want to be misunderstood. But he’s been talking to everyone so much more recently and even joked about teaching me patios. So I definitely want to surprise him. I know he’ll get a good laugh😂🙏 thank you!
How sweet of you. Do you find it difficult to understand him though?
❤😂

Could Bless up! have other meanings?
Bless up can also be used to convey appreciation, in a similar way to saying thanks. Bless up can also be used to “bless” a person in parting … in the same way someone might say “blessings” as a parting expression. Let me know if this helps! Bless up 😀
