Watching everything I have movie (1940), made me look Marge up on RUclips and found this video . Thank you for sharing timeless grace on film. Perfectly perfect!
There has to be more reference than this, right? The characters' movement in the movie are just too realistic and smooth for it to not have been a 1:1 rotoscope.
Yes, but unfortunately only these brief clips of the live-action footage are known to exist - the rest are lost. In fact, most of the live-action reference footage for the other classic Disney animated movies was (likely) discarded after it served its original purpose. They couldn't have known there would be an interest decades later to see this behind the scenes content.
@@SnoutMajor oh, that's a shame. That's movie history being lost. The funny thing is, Snow White was such an important project for Walt Disney himself, one would imagine him saving as much of it as possible, even before releasing the film. Oh well, at least some footage was saved.
Wait, Marge was 14 like the character doing this?! Wow, she looked in her 20’s at least, crazy how a lot of them looked a lot older back then…
Marge was born and in 1919 so she was 18 at the time
@@edwardhayes6113no because the production of the movie started in 1934 and then three YEARS LATER the movie was out
"Motion capture" before motion capture was even a thing.

No, these are just references, some animators actually rotoscoped something but almost all of them used these as just references
Rachel doesn't stand a chance!
Disney would never have someone praying in one of their films now. Too afraid of offending someone.
Indeed.
Is there anything about sleeping beauty?
What is your source for the vintage videos?
Nobody.
Absolutely nobody.
Walt Disney: FUCKING SNOW WHITE!!!!!!!!
0:09 composer Oliver Wallace here to model for Sneezy (also Dopey)
I always thought they just drew the movements based on their artistic talent.
They did! But this is a kinda reminder that talent doesn't always come out of the blue. While drawing, we always need some reference ^.^
