for me, the sonic theme for this is like trippy/hypnotic. the theme for the freak video kinda supported what i thought also. it does explore different genres but when you listen deep into the intrumentals they're all sort of hypnotic and really ethereal
Regarding "Terrence loves you": yes, that's a verse from Space Oddity, Bowie's brother was also named Terry, he suffered from schizophrenia and commited suicide
personally i would not say her songs are “pop”. i think she made her own genre. when born to die first came out and it went viral, critics didn’t even know how to rate it or what to do with it. it was so authentic with such a unique sound
