  • YASHICA Auto YASHINON 5cm F2 Disassembly and Cleaning Video.
Tomioka Optics delivered lenses to major manufacturers such as Yashica and Ricoh by OEM supply.
Probably for decades, I got the Yashica Auto Yashinon 5cmF2 (the lens is Tomioka Kogaku), which used to sleep in a corner of a room without being used.
This is a video of disassembling and cleaning that lens.
(There are also sample shots taken around my home)
Tomioka Optics lenses are very popular because of their wonderful depiction power, even after decades.

Great video. Very satisfying to bring a lens back to life like that. You did an outstanding job. First and only lens I disassembled was a Rokkor 58 f1.4. The aperture was stuck wide open. I got the blades cleaned up and I'm happy that I can use it, but I accidentally declicked the aperture and kept it that way. That's not ideal, but better than using it wide open (too soft).

      Thank you for your comment.
When you disassemble and clean the lens, you will occasionally encounter an accident.
      It's also fun. Thank you.

Hi, My name is Trung Do and I am from the United States. Do you apply any type of grease to the threads on this lens? If so what kind of grease? If you can show a picture so that I can order from the USA that would be most helpful. In Japan I am sure you have access to much more cleaning and repair supplies than in The USA because most people here prefer to buy new then repair anything.

Very nice and educational your videos, thanks. One question; is this yashinon 5cm f2 6elements in 4 groups, and similar to Disassembly than yashinon auto 5,5 1.8 ?

Can you use infinity focus with this lens on a mirrorless body? I have three M42 adapters and none won't let me do infinity focus on this lens

    • @tomoo_japan9110
      @tomoo_japan9110  4 года назад +1

As you say, depending on the adapter, there is an adapter that does not emit infinity focus.
The adapter I use for M42→m4/3 is FOTGA adapter.
Can be used at infinity focus.
      I will link Amazon below.

@@tomoo_japan9110 Thank you very much. However, I use my M42-FX adapters on a Fuji X-T1. Perhaps in this model it is not possible.

I have same issue with infinity focus. On my lens rear pin does not recessed completely (above 1.2m focus) and it blocks adapter. Hence I cannot screw adapter completely. If I screw adapter completely, I cannot focus above 5m. I am using Kipon m42-FUX adapter. Does rear pin recess completely on your camera (at focus beyond 1.2m)?

I know this is an old question, but the answer might be useful for future readers. For this lens to have infinity focus one needs an adapter without the inner ring that pushes the diafragm pin, or an adapter that allows this ring to be removed, like the K&F M42 adapter. By loosening the tiny hex screws with a 1,3 mm allen key you can take out the mount ring and remove the separate inner ring. Enjoy this great lens.
