What were the differences between Liberian Presidents Tolbert, Doe and Taylor

  • Since its independence in 1847 Liberia has played host to countless Lebanese merchants and their families in search of greener pastures to fuel growth of their country's economy. This host relationship has been at a very high cost to Liberia and its citizens, to the extent that, whereas Liberia's economy has become consistently poorer, that of Lebanon's has grown richer. Whereas Individual Lebanese families, resident in Liberia, have become millionaires, after 166 years Liberians can barely boast of having even ten legally declared millionaire businessmen. In stark contrast Lebanese families who migrated to Liberia with next to nothing can now boast of second and third generation millionaire businessmen both in Liberia and Lebanon.
Lebanese and other foreign merchants are in complete control of the Liberian economy and their continued grip on the economy is fueled in large part by funds from successive Liberian governments. Except for the current trend seen in the last six years where Chinese contractors have muscled in on the infrastructure sector of the Liberian economy, Lebanese merchants enjoy carte blanche in dictating recipients of government contracts in all sectors of Liberia's economy. The result is that Liberian businessmen and women are unable to compete in their own economy for the large contracts that have the propensity to lift themselves and other Liberians out of poverty.

At least the late Tolbert was much better than the rest. It was during his time that Liberia was competing with today's world rich nations like Japan.

None of them were actual leaders of Liberia. That country needs to uproot every aspect of American influence and start over. It’s the only way forward.

You cannot uproot every aspect of American influence and start over. American influence on the Liberian Culture, body politics, overall made a big difference in Liberia. Liberian people need to recognized our multi cultural heritage and embrace every aspect of it.

In relation to the writings (the foot notes here) of the owner of this channel about the exploitation of Liberia and extraction of its wealth by non-Liberians, it's good to raise these concerns to the indigenous Liberians, sensitize them and let them press the Liberian government to implement strategies to correct and change things in favor of Liberians and Liberia.

President Taylor was the best in my life time, I did hear about those two but what did they do for the country and what our country still look like a township? I guess someone will ask me what did Taylor do as well, and my answer will be, the world 🌎 in general didn't give him the chance to prove himself but he was the best President Liberia has ever have.

Taylor invaded Liberia knowing that war would destroy homes people and progress so he didn't seek power to make Liberia better he was searching for his own glory as u can clearly hear kromah say he been wanted the presidency

@@figomacboy4779 Good question, our Economy grow under President Taylor, you could buy Rice as low as $8.00 for the half bag, you could visit anyone during Taylor time in office and they will give you as much you didn't expected to pay your way back to where you coming from, during Taylor time, you could sleep with your door open without no arms robbery coming at your home, when I say he was not given a chance mean that, the United States didn't wanted him to be a better President, so they did everything just to make him look bad, as for me, I don't care who bring war in Liberia or not, there was a reason why the war came in the first place, during the 14th years war, I was right in Liberia. If you don't believe what I'm telling you, do your research and prove me wrong.

@@samuelgezaye9523 Taylor restored order but at the cost of all the infrastructure being destroyed. Tolbert and Tubman were the best as they had Unification policies to bring the country together....obviously did not work though
