Woke up this morning to an interesting conversation going on with this game. The less controversial conversation that is. It gave me the perfect chance to go on my rant About a topic that's been tickling my tits these last few years.

A little 1-4 player co-op (or just 1-3 for the trio meta) would make this game even more replayable. Flying around as a group, descending on some poor bandit camp and raiding it like Proto Death Eaters would be amazing. Plus, it'd be cool to have inter and intra house things. This game isn't tailored to it at all, but I'd love a version or a mode like it in the future.
Well returnal dropped a free co op a year later which was the most boss shit ever. I hope more games do it in the future. Thank you for taking your time to comment. It is appreciated 🙏🏾🔥🖤
I think a Harry Potter game that’s like red dead redemption would be awesome. You could join a house free roam become a powerful wizard or an evil wizard. Go around doing missions fighting other wizard groups or do group related tasks.

I totally agree. I really hope they will implement coop. I don’t mind if I can’t play the main quest with friends, but I’d love to roam and have fun with my friends

When I think of online for this game, I think about something like GTA online role play. That’s where the true multiplayer value is. Multiplayer is not synonymous with an MMO

I think to have this game just be a single player game really runs the game short. I actually think MMO format would do this game great. Because of the emersove open world and it's based on a school, they have a basis to make it a MMO. For example, hogwarts alone. You could have dungeons because of the Chamber of secrets. Secret missions because of room of requirement, fark forest quests. This game actually does work. And you could test your skill with dark wizards and such. You could have a end game mission to break into gringawds bank.
So on this one, I'd disagree and advocate with making it a MMO. It's not like it's going to go through much balance issues due to the fact it's not as many spells.

My argument was more that going MMO would mean getting a game that doesn’t look or play anything like this because the sheer size of MMOs change everything about how the game is designed, the intricacies of its gameplay loop, and the originality + fidelity of said game. Not to mention network demands, cost of operation.
But don’t get me wrong, with the success of this game, I wouldn’t be surprised if they rework it as an mmo in a whole separate project. There’s obviously demand (as no one seemed to realize my sarcasm in the video).
But yeah, I truly believe you’ll have what you want soon, and the simple ideology of online co op will continue to be ignored in high quality games.

The mod community is so strong 🔥. If the pc market wasn’t being so greedy right now with pricing of GPUs, I had intended on becoming a bigger pc gamer. For now I’ll just keep using my rig for editing.

You hit the nail on the head with this one bruh. Me and my mom both pre ordered the game and was hoping to have at least some kind of co op even if it was just the dark art arena.
I think we'll be seeing some updates as far as PVP type stuff sooner than later. As far as Co-op, Ill keep hoping for a Returnal like co op update out of the blue.

Local multiplayer is where it's at! Such a shame games rarely have it any more unless it's designed around *only* being a local multiplayer game. So much so, people don't even think about local, when they say multiplayer. Some of my best memories of playing games at all are local co-op with family/friends all on one couch. Now that's virtually impossible. But when it happens it's still beautiful!
Preach! Growing up playing games with my older brother is still one of my fondest memories and as he’s come back to gaming after a 17+year layoff, we search for things we can play together and it’s disheartening. We’ll always have excite bike 🤣!

@@PixelSilhouette I guess Nintendo are still making local co-op games, which is cool. But I loved playing It Takes Two with my brother. Don’t get to see him so much now he’s left home, so having that excuse to have fun together was amazing!

we could choose whether we wanted to play multiplayer or single player. in multiplayer there should be events to win clothes and other items.

I completely agree. These are the kinds of games I play with my brother, I just wanna play co-op with him. I'm finally able to play hogwarts legacy, and I was under the impression that this game was "multiplayer" this hole time.
I also grew up playing with my brother, and he’s just getting back into gaming after 15 years, only to find that co-op is barely a thing anymore. We constantly look for games that are co op or multiplayer that aren’t just shooting everything in sight.
They can also make another app for the multiplayer side of it.. so it’s technically two separate games like ghost of Tsushimas multiplayer.. they don’t have to change anything bout the purely single player game & then for the people who like the grind & metas they can be free to do that.. I just think it’s too big of an opportunity to roam the Harry Potter universe with my friends! They should def do something like it in the future with the IP 🤷🏽♂️
Absolutely! Co-op would be fantastic, And Ghost of Tsushima’s style of multiplayer would be interesting. I will hold out hope that they introduce co-op like Returnal did, randomly in an update. I do think they will have a pvp dlc added for specific mini games not too long after release. Quidditch, duels, etc.

A Harry Potter GTA is what we mean and keep single player but have a online mode and keep bringing DLCs nobody can beat GTAs consistently
I think you'll get this, but it wont be THIS game for all that because that is a completely different scope of project. I think they will still add dlcs (including quidditch matches and dueling, with story content to this game) But a massive open world mmo like GTA is fundamentally a different game (in design and technical execution) than what this was ever set to offer. Luckily tho, This game made MONEY by the boat-loads, so I do believe you will be getting an MMO version of this proven gaming IP with everything you want. Thanks for commenting. People that have a problem with a game being multiplayer is crazy. Most games that are multiplayer have single player options you do not need to play with other people.

Imo co-op is still multiplayer. MMO stands for “Massively Multiplayer Online” so an MMO is also multiplayer, just with a bunch of people…

I hold out hope that it’s success will result in a Returnal like co op update in the future. I think the multiplayer elements will be added sooner tho for things like quidditch and duels.
What sucks is that they issued a whole bunch of cease and desists to gmod Harry Potter RPs and stuff right before the game released, I’m not saying they were good but the only semblance of a multi player Harry Potter experience is gone now

Fair enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are already working on a full game to do just that with. It probably won’t look as good, or have as detailed quest, or story features, but a lot of people do want it so I hope u get what u want. 👍🏿
Yes, bringing along a friend would be nice and very doable. This isn't a game you would want to play as a MMO.

I think they could have done something like Elden Ring where you can go the whole game like it’s single player, or choose to summon allies and invade foes. Would have been really cool. But i love this game so much already

There’s always hope for an update like Returnal did a year after release. If you haven’t actually tried It Takes Two yet, it’s an amazing alternative for great co op husband and wife experience.

Issue is I have severe motion sickness so I can't actually play any combat in HL or Witcher. I let my husband do the fights so I don't loose my lunch. We usually play stuff like Divinity original Sin, Stardew Valley, Age of empires, Magicka etc.
"It takes two" is out of the questions for me, but thanks for the recommendations.
Omg Divinity Original Sin 2 is by far my favorite rpg of all time! Another great co-op game 💯.
The motion sickness thing definitely sucks. I usually only get it when playing first person shooters that slide around through the environment with no perceived weight (Ie Doom/Perfect Dark). Either way, it sounds like y’all still get to play fantastic games together at least! I will hold out hope for this game to add co-op.

If you look in the details page of co op games, it says “online co-op”. Yes I know people aren’t sitting next to each other especially after a pandemic and the last 10 years of gaming Smdh 🤣

Agree! Have the same thoughts. I love to have Skyrim, Red Dead, and others to be a co-up but not multiplayer. RPG multiplayer usually sucks, because with many players you can't immerse in the world

With the success of the game I’m pretty sure they’re going to bring at least ONE major dlc, with smaller updates for dueling and quidditch for the multiplayer heads.

it’s just an opinion lol. Some people agree and some don’t. Also some understood my sarcasm/humor and apparently some didn’t. It’s all to start a conversation. I think you’ll see multiplayer added to this game in an update very soon. Especially with its success.

A harry potter mmo of this Quality would take over the world by storm and with the rise of popularity in mmo's,its a no brainer asto why so many people are asking for this to be a mmo. So you have to look at it from both perspectives ig
Just a disclaimer for the single player fans: Im not asking the game to get rid of single player story line whatsoever but instead have a gta 5 set up where they have the single player story experience etc and also a online(mmo) version such as gta online.
I don't necessarily disagree at all with what your saying but one of the points I was attempting to allude to is that you will never see a game with this level of depth, gameplay, etc as an MMO, because it would tax any system or server and ultimately introduce unfavorable gaming elements just to keep it alive and production cost level.
This is why I find that No MMO can have this level of fidelity in any one area that makes it the quality I PERSONALLY look for from gaming. MMO's and open worlds, as my friend put it, "are 3 Miles wide, and an Inch Deep". HE LOVES MMO's and plays them consistently but even he recognizes its flaws. Unfortunately their size imposes limits and creative restrictions, But Co-Op Games doesn't have that hang-up, because nothing has to change except one to 3 more people all in the same unaltered story instance.
Again, i don't disagree with you as it is a no brainer as to why people would want this as an mmo, but making it so would by default take away the fidelity that makes them want this as an MMO because of the other demands that come with that territory.

You never know they may add a full-fledged online mode but i expect what the will do is add multiplayer elements like Arenas quidditch, dungeouns etc.

That’s not a bad suggestion at all. Most people have commented saying Elden Ring or Gta/Red Dead as model suggestions. Monster Hunter style definitely works.

Have a single player mode and multiplayer mode like the Diablo franchise. Problem solved. I'd love an open world version with a player base like eso or wow. But I also like to relax and take it slow sometimes.

Valid opinion! 🙏🏾 some people took my stance outside the intended range of entertainment and opinion. I think if a game doesn’t have what you’re looking for, there’s no shame in spending your money elsewhere. My only real hope is that like Returnal, it’ll possibly get an update that allows co-op in the future. I do think it’s possible for a game to have great value without an “end-game”. A great story’s end is good enough for me with my preferences, but I completely understand the want for more!

I like to think Halo 3 was almost a perfect mix of multiplayer and co-op. You could do anything in that game locally, online, or both. Whenever a new map pack came out, it was actually exciting. It felt like a cool and exciting addition to the game rather than a forced microtransaction. That’s what’s missing these days.

I agree, per the video. Finding out it was a single player campaign meant that they had time to make a definitive experience, if done well, that would surely please fans.
The distinct point I was making was that “multiplayer” and what that means, isn’t the same thing as co op anymore. I definitely need less multiplayer in the sense it’s used these days, but co op doesn’t demand a different experience from the campaign and offers the option to gamers to have 1-3 friends. Like Returnal for instance. They updated that game with a free dlc that offered co op with one other person. Didn’t change the base game, just allowed a friend.

I don't want co-op multi-player. The world is as much a character as anyone else, if not more so. And I wouldn't want anything unnecessarily taking away from it visually just to accommodate more players smoothly. But a side multi-player menu of mini games at the start-up menu wouldn't be terrible idea. Could play an assortment of games from wizards chess and dueling, to forming a quidditch team with your friends to take on others.
I’m obviously in disagreement regarding co-op, but I can definitely respect that approach to the side game multiplayer like quidditch and dueling. I usually only find a loss in fidelity from “multiplayer” if it’s the issue I’m talking about in the video. Massive multiplayer leading to the flaws of a game as a service and such. Yeah, I don’t want that either, but as another commenter pointed out, the series was literally about a group of three friends. I hadn’t thought of that and think it’s a great point.

I can't understand why every game doesn't have a co-op or team mode, it's 2023, these options offer massive longevity potential and more importantly, fun!
I could not agree more. It’s this thought that lead me to make the video. Co op is such a forgotten art in gaming. But the reason, in my mind is because every studio jumped on the games as service mmo train to try to make as much money as possible, with as many players as possible, leading to lower quality expansive games.

I can respect that. there’s definitely people who love that. I personally just feel with that overall games as service format, it opens the door to every hot topic gripe gamers complain about daily and for the last decade.
When a game is a “service” I feel there’s a definite drop in overall fidelity, mission structure, set piece detail and overall execution in said service.

T H A N K Y O U ! GEEEZUS I felt like I was going nuts trying to explain this EXACT differentiator to the neck beards out there. All I keep getting as a response is “ not every game needs to have multiplayer “. I was like … has no one played Dead Island , Dying light , Borderlands , Halo Campaign co op before? Those aren’t mmos and offer OPTIONAL 4 player co op . There aren’t that many open world 4 Co op / narrative driven games out there, yet these same people bitch about it being suggested.
Open world games ( Non MMO ) without OPTIONAL COOP is like having a whole ass amusement park/ theater / arcade / roller rink all to yourself and you can not invite your friends or family. It can be very enjoyable … but way better with companions if you so desire.
And is usually a higher fidelity game with better story, graphics, set pieces, and the like. Single player sensibilities for a co op experience.

Like it or not if devs want to make money on games there going to have to go to multiplayer. All big titles where majority plays are on multiplayer games.
That’s the going thought process in the industry, but my only counterpoint is that we obviously have games that don’t and still do extremely well in sales. You add up all the failed attempts at following the trend and just like the games as service apocalypse last week and ubisofts current debacle, the numbers just don’t add up anymore. Yeah you MIGHT make a hit and get the big payout, but u could also spend all that money and shut down in 3 months in the negative.
You never have a sure shot in anything but asking for a balance can only benefit the world of gaming and its future, in both stances. At least that’s how I see it.

Hear me out, maybe if you don't want to be a part of the mmo maybe play singleplayer or maybe even play coop because in a game like this if they add multiplayer they will most likely add a coop mode which you can run through the campaign with your mates and a online multiplayer version of hogwarts with tons of other people, no one ever forces you to play what you don't want to be a part of so no point in complaining about it
Hear me out tho, some people watching this video didn’t get my humor or sarcasm, which is my fault on delivery, so fair enough. My thoughts on co op stand, but at the end of the day the point being made isn’t that I don’t want people to have what they want, it’s that people desiring co op, have been forgotten in modern day gaming by publishers who want everything to be the next money milking machine, and people bitch about the negative elements in gaming and gaming development, of which 80% of the problems come from this design philosophy. Also the bit about how these “money milking” games usually by nature don’t have half the qualities that a single player or designated co op game has.
I only buy single player games because other than hazelight studios, we basically don’t get any co op anymore.
I do think there will be a pvp update for duels and quidditch and I’ll keep hoping for returnal like update adding co op. If it comes it comes, 🤷🏾♂️. At the end of the day, it is what it is and just because you share your thoughts, doesn’t mean you’re “complaining”. 🤣
I'd rather they stick to SP only, having them focsed on the SP side of things was the best thing overall. And idk if you meant to badmouth mmo's but some have not only great gameplay but damn good story's to, FF14 and swtor do story just as good as some SP games.
I have more than one friend.....I need co-op for at least 10 people.

I definitely hope that an MMO for a Hogwarts game with similar fidelity comes out for people because everyone should be allowed to have fun. For now I just see a definite trade-off in the quality of a game when its made to be a service or MMO. The sheer size of that endeavor diminishes its ability to have the things that make THIS game so appealing to people. That's my take anyway, but your wants are just as valid.

@@PixelSilhouette I think there is a way to switch between from story mode and a different thing with servers for the online like GTA V. Also, quality doesn't have to diminish since the game can load the world from the on board saved files. That's what makes PC better. Quality would suffer only from the console side of things.

As far as what u can do in an mmo, I haven’t come across one that does any of these things to the quality which I’m talking about that makes the distinction in fidelity between the co op experience vs the mmo multiplayer experience. However as I also stated in the video, I understand that there are people who enjoy the things that I don’t. So don’t take it to heart. Your opinion is just as valid as the one I put forth in the video. It’s all entertainment. Sorry I failed you on this one.

I’m sure there will be updates adding pvp duels and stuff to the game. I’ll just keep hope alive for a returnal like co op update.
Rest assured though, with the success of this game, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re already working on a “multiplayer” update or a whole new project to focus specifically on that approach.

Forget multiplayer I want to know more about the companions can they come with you on Quest how good are they can you change their moves or upgrade them ect.
2:33 who wants that? millions upon millions of people. MMO keep you coming back. singleplayer games are like toiletpaper. you use em once and your done with it forever. Ya seen all the cinematic, you got all the unlocks.
You’re not wrong. I would offer up the point that the quality of an experience however isn’t based on how long you’re playing it, but the quality of the experience offered.
